Former MLC Rahman on Monday alleged that TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao has mortgaged the self-respect of Telangana people to the 10 Janpath New Delhi.

Speaking to the media here, Rahman said tongues of TRS leaders would be slashed if they spoke against late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who had provided 4 per cent reservation to Muslims. He also demanded that KCR reveal the business links between his son K Tarka Rama Rao and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.

Vijayashanti Denies Rift With KCR

TRS MP from Medak Vijayashanthi here on Monday stoutly denied that she had differences with party Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR).

Speaking to the media here, Vijayashanthi said that there was no truth in the media reports that she had differences with KCR. Demolision Of Houses: One Attempts Suicide

One affected resident tried to commit suicide while scores of others made vain bids to prevent the GHMC officials, who launched an “Operation Demolision” of illegal buildings in Anjaiahnagar and Sadiqnagar in Gatchibowli on Monday morning.

The GHMC is stated to have identified as many as 150 illegal constructions allegedly on government land in the area. Claiming that despite notices the residents have not vacated the houses, the officials launched a massive demolition operation.

Slight intensity quake in Andaman Islands

A slight intensity earthquake, measuring 4.8 on Richter scale, jolted region of Andaman Islands today.

The quake, which struck at 4:44 AM today, was measured 4.8 on the Richter Scale, the India Meteorological Department said.

The epicentre of the quake was located at 14.1 degrees north on the latitude and 93.5 degrees east on the longitude.

No loss of life or property was reported from anywhere in the region.

13-year-old raped by father, brother, uncle for 2 years

The father, brother and an uncle of a 13 year-old girl from nearby Dharmadom in north Kerala’s Kannur district have been arrested for allegedly raping the minor for the past two years.

The shocking incident came to light two days ago when the 8th standard student of a local school was seen crying and refused to go home even after school hours. When one of her teachers enquired, the petrified girl narrated her plight.

After 19 years, Belgian finds out his wife was a man

A 64-year-old Belgian man wants to have his marriage annulled after he discovered that his Indonesian wife of 19 years had been born a man and had later undergone a sex change.

The man, named Jan, married Monica in 1993 despite legal difficulties raised by the Belgian immigration authorities, Telegraph reported.

But it was only recently that he discovered that his 48-year-old wife had originally been a man.

“I feel I’ve been assaulted,” he told the Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.

The Pentagon today said it was premature to speculate on the US troop numbers in Afghanistan following the scheduled drawdown of 2014, saying no decision had been taken on the issue yet as reported by the media.

Pak violates ceasefire, targets 10 Indian posts

Violating the ceasefire yet again, Pakistan troops targeted 10 Indian forward posts by firing over 6000 rounds from heavy weaponry along the Indo-Pak border in Poonch district. The firing last night, which was the heaviest this year, came ahead of the ninth anniversary of the Indo-Pak ceasefire agreement today. The Indo-Pak border truce came into force on November 26, 2003. “Pakistan troops opened heavy fire with Medium Machine Guns and Heavy Machine Guns on 10 Indian forward posts along LoC in Krishnagati sub-sector of Poonch district last night,” PRO, Defence, S N Acharya said today.

Teenaged girl alleges rape

A teenaged girl in Haryana’s Sonepat district has alleged that she was gangraped by four persons after which police have registered a case against the accused. The 13-year-old victim alleged that she was gangraped by four persons, on Friday night in Gannaur, they said. The complaint was lodged with the police by the victim’s mother, who stated that her daughter had come out of the house to answer nature’s call, when the accused overpowered her and committed the crime. The mother rushed to the girl’s rescue when she heard her cries after which the accused ran away, police said.

Youth gets life term for killing vegetable seller

A 21-year-old youth has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court for stabbing a vegetable vendor to death. Additional Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar Dahiya awarded the jail term to Delhi resident Pankaj for stabbing Dharmender, a vegetable seller in Mahavir Enclave in West Delhi, over a tiff on payment for tomatoes eaten by the convict and his friends from the victim’s shop. The court, however, rejected the prosecution’s plea for capital punishment saying the case does not fall under the “rarest of rare” category.

Nine injured in group clash

Nine persons were injured in a clash between two groups of a community over slaughtering of an animal at Jamalpura colony in the district today.

The clash broke out between the two groups over the slaughtering and members of both the groups attacked each other with canes, injuring nine, police sources said.

Of the nine injured, four were undergoing treatment at MMG hospital here.

No police case has been filed by any of the two groups.

Consulted “stakeholders” on FDI in retail: Sharma

Amid logjam in Parliament over FDI in multi-brand retail, the government today said it held consultations with “stakeholders” including traders’ associations on the issue and the decision to implement the policy is left to the states.

“Consultations were held in this regard with stakeholders including traders’ associations, consumers’ organisations, farmers’ associations, small and medium enterprises’ associations and food processing industry representatives,” Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

Weapon smuggling bid into Saudi Arabia foiled

Saudi border guards have foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition into the country, reported Saudi News Agency Monday.

While all the weapons and ammunition were confiscated, traffickers who traded fire with the border guards, managed to escape, Xinhua reported.

Saudi Arabia announced earlier this month the arrest of 30 smugglers in the border province of Asir in last three months.

Rs.35 lakh robbed on knife point

Four masked men robbed Rs.35 lakh from the house of a property dealer after threatening his wife with a knife Monday afternoon, police said.

The incident was reported around 12.30 p.m. from north Delhi’s Timarpur.

The accused allegedly barged into the house of Mohammed Shahabuddin, a property dealer, when his wife Mumtaz was alone with her two sons – a three year old and a six months old.

India signs pact with China to develop railways

India Monday signed a pact with China to enhance mutual technical cooperation between the the two Asian countries in the field of railways, an official statement said.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), both the countries will enhance mutual cooperation across various areas of rail technology including high speed rail, heavy haulage and station development, said a statement from the railway ministry.

The two sides will undertake exchange of information on policies, training and exchange programmes, site visits, joint symposiums, it said.

Two killed as car rams into tree

Two people were killed while two of their friends were injured after a car they were travelling in rammed into a tree here early Monday, police said.

The accident was reported around 2 a.m. from central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar.

Raj Singh Dhillon, 27, a resident of Punjab, and Akshat Kumar, 22, a resident of central Delhi’s Paharganj, died in the accident. Sukhchain, 30, a resident of Punjab, and Ismail, 19, a resident of Jalandhar, were injured, police said.
