WWII bomb bound at Moscow stadium site

An object believed to be an unexploded WWII aerial bomb has been found at a construction site in Moscow, a police spokesperson said here Monday.

“Today at 2.49 p.m. we were informed that an object that looks like a WWII aerial bomb had been found during construction work…,” the spokesperson said, adding that a bomb squad, handlers with detection dogs and a team of investigators had been sent to the scene.

A stadium is being built for Moscow’s FC Spartak at the location where the bomb was found, according to public records.

Accountant commits suicide, blames sitting Congress MLA

A head accountant of Assam government’s Irrigation department allegedly committed suicide here, police said on Monday.

The head accountant Mothur Chandra Nath, currently posted in Udalguri district, hanged himself last night at his residence here.

In a 22-page suicide note, he blamed the sitting Congress MLA from Sonai in Cachar district Enamul Haque Laskar for allegedly driving him to this state, the police said.

Gunmen attack police building in Nigerian capital

Suspected militants of radical Islamic group Boko Haram attacked a high security police base here on Tuesday, leaving two policemen dead, and enabling the escape of 30 detainees, most of whom were recaptured.

The attack came a day after two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a church inside a high security military barrack in northern Nigeria.

In Abuja today, the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad building came under attack when a large number of gunmen launched an armed attack over it.

Osama bin Laden was given full Islamic burial: official documents

Heavily redacted official US military documents reveal that Osama bin Laden was given a complete Islamic burial after being killed by US forces in a daring raid at his Abbottabad hideout in Pakistan last year.

These documents have been obtained by Washington-based Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act (FIA) and were released to the press today.

The al Qaeda leader was reportedly transported by the USS Carl Vinson and buried at sea in accordance with Muslim law.

NATO to survey Patriot missile sites in Turkey

NATO officials will start surveying sites along the Turkey-Syria border Tuesday for possible deployment of Patriot air defence systems, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

The NATO delegation includes 30 experts from the US, Germany and the Netherlands, all of whom have Patriots in their arsenals.

The Turkish General Staff said that the Patriot missile systems will not be used to establish a no-fly zone or to conduct offensive operations, but only “against an air or missile threat from Syria,” the Hurriyet daily said, citing the statement.

SP suspended for Facebook arrests

(Siasat News)Government suspended Superintendent of Police Ravindra Sengaonkar and transferred Ramchandra Bagade, the first-class judicial magistrate at Palghar for Facebook arrests. Officials also said that Palghar police inspector Shrikant Pingle would also be suspended.
Shaheen Dhada had posted a post on facebook on November 18, the post was against the shutdown due to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s funeral and Shrinivasan had ‘liked’ the post. Seeing the post, the local Shiv Sena chief complained against the girls and cops arrested both of them on November 19.

Fire kills 14 at German workshop for disabled

At least 14 people died and seven injured in southern Germany after a fire broke out at a workshop, having disabled people as employees, police said Monday.

The blaze occurred in a workshop, which employs some 120 mentally-or physically-handicapped workers for jobs in metal and wood processing or electrical assembly, at the small town of Titisee-Neustadt, in the Black Forest in Germany, Xinhua reported.

Three others were reported missing after the blaze, police said.

Nigeria church attack toll reaches 15

The toll in the twin blasts that hit a military church in Nigerian state of Kaduna Sunday rose to 15, a military official said Monday.

The blasts rocked the St. Andrew Military Protestant Church in Jaji in central north Kaduna, leaving dozens of others as injured, Xinhua reported. The first explosion occurred at about 12 p.m. while the second went off 10 minutes later.

Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College AVM Abdullahi Kureh informed about the casualties to Governor Patrick Yakowa Monday when he visited the site of the attack.

Russian space industry to merge into holdings

A structural reform of Russia’s space industry will see its numerous enterprises united into five or six large holdings, according to Federal Space Agency chief Vladimir Popovkin said.

The reform should make the troubled industry more manageable, Popovkin said after a governmental meeting in Moscow.

The draft list of industries to get separate holdings includes orbital spacecraft development, in-orbit operation, guidance systems, scientific research, testing and strategic rocketry, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin also said Monday.

Drug dealers to fund Russian rehab programmes

Funds seized from drug traffickers should be spent on treatment and rehabilitation programmes, director of Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Ivanov.

“It is common practice in the world for drug barons’ money to work in the public interest, in the interest of [drug] users who need treatment,” Ivanov said.

Complete confiscation of drug dealers’ property is the most effective way to combat the drug mafia, he said.

“These criminals should have the burden of proving that their property, real estate has legitimate origins,” Ivanov said.

No Cases Pending Against TNGOs’ Leaders: Sabita

Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy has said that she did not think there were cases against the employees’ leaders.

Talking to the media here on Monday, she said no such cases came to her notice. She said the State government was re-examining the cases registered against people’s representatives and students during the “Sakala Janula Samme”. She also said that 100 cases registered in Karimnagar were about to be cleared.
