Where Do We Fall Related To Our Taqwa And The Guidance From Allah?

If we read the first few verses of Surah Al-Baqara (almost the beginning of the Quran), we would note that Allah describes three types of people related to guidance.

14-year-old rapes 4-year-old

(Siasat News)14-year-old boys of Class VII allegedly rape a four-year-old girl in Dahar village of Panipat district on Monday. On Tuesday girl’s parents registered a case against the boy.

According to Police the girl’s father filed a complaint alleging that the neighbour’s boy raped his daughter.

Parent said that girl was on her way to grandmother’s house when the boy took her to his house and raped her.

BCCI unaware of talks between Tendulkar, selectors

The Indian Cricket Board today claimed it was unaware of any talks between senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar and national selectors on his future in the wake of a prolonged form slump.

“I am not aware of it,” said BCCI secretary and senior selection panel convener Sanjay Jagdale when contacted in Indore for his reaction to media reports today that Tendulkar spoke to chief selector Sandeep Patil before yesterday’s selection meeting at the Board headquarters here.

Lata launches music label with bhajan album

Singing legend Lata Mangeshkar has launched her own music label L.M. Music with an album of bhajans. Lata has sung along with younger sister Usha for the new album.

The two sisters have sang a number of hit songs in the 1950s and 1960s like “Apalam chaplam” (“Azad”), “Kis kaaran kamini sharmaye” (“Chandan Ka Palna)” and “Bahe jaiye na rani” (“Sabse Bada Rupaiya”).

The new album has bhajans dedicated to Swami Samarth of Akkalkot.

There is nothing wrong in bringing the Prime Minister under the jurisdiction of Lokpal as like others he is also a public servant, former Supreme Court Judge and erstwhile Karnataka Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde said today.

“What is wrong in the Lokpal having jurisdiction over the Prime Minister? Is the Prime Minister not a public servant? Aren’t there cases of corruption against PMs in other countries? In Japan, you find every other year a Prime Minister is prosecuted.

Guj polls: Only 16 women in fray on BJP, Cong tickets

Only 16 women candiates have been fielded by the ruling BJP and opposition Congress for phase one of the Gujarat Assembly polls though both the parties back the Women’s Reservation Bill that provides 33 per cent reservation.

While the BJP has fielded 11 women candidates, the Congress has named just five candidates for the 87 assembly seats that will go to polls on December 13 across Saurashtra, South Gujarat and four seats in western Ahmedabad district.

Quake rocks Uttarakhand, no casualties

An earthquake of moderate intensity shook parts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday, Nov 27 but there were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage.

The quake, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, struck the Garhwal region at 5.45 p m, MeT department Director Anand Sharma said.

Lasting a few seconds, the quake had its epicentre in state’s Uttarkashi district, he said. The tremors were felt in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Dehradun and other districts where frightened residents rushed out their homes in panic.

A metropolitan court on Tuesday asked family members of Rajesh Khanna to appear before it in connection with a complaint filed against them by a woman claiming to be his live-in partner and seeking maintenance from the estate of the late actor.

Magistrate S S Deshpande, hearing the complaint filed by Anita Advani under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, suggested both the sides to settle the matter amicably and said if they agree he would refer the case to a mediator the same day.

Man dies after setting himself ablaze in AP town

A physically-challenged man died after he allegedly set himself afire over a family dispute at a busy square in the town, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place last evening, police said, adding that the victim has been identified as Rala Narayana alias Maraiah (32) from Navipet in Nizamabad district.

According to police, Narayana had come to Karimnagar on Monday to submit an application at the district collectorate for the sanction of a tricycle under the Praja Vaani programme.

Fire breaks out in shops near Kannur Railway station

A major fire broke out on Wednesday in a row of shops near Kannur Railway Station, police said.

Six shops were gutted and five partially in the fire, which was noticed at about 4.30 am. No one was injured.

Local people and police along with Fire and Rescue team fought for nearly two hours to put out the fire, police said.

Fire fighting units from nearby places including, Thalassery, Koothuparambu, Thaliparambu and Kannur, were summoned to douse the blaze.

The shops gutted include a bakery and an electric goods selling shop.

Woman IAF officer commits suicide

A woman officer in the Indian Air Force allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her official quarters here on Wednesday morning.

29-year-old squadron leader Anandita Das, hailing from Kolkata, was posted at the Jodhpur Air Force Station and living in the officers’ quarters with her husband, who is also an IAF officer.

“She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the wee hours today. The body has been shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for postmortem,” police said.

She was a ground duty officer.

Iran denies holding talks with US

Tehran has dismissed media reports stating it held secret talks with Washington.

Iran said that the alleged talks were an attempt by US politicians to encourage a bigger turnout in November presidential polls.

“As long as the US sticks to past policies, there will be no need for negotiations,” reported Press TV quoting Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast.

“When fair conditions for talks are provided, we will welcome [negotiations], but we have not yet observed any fundamental change [in US behaviour].”

Gunmen kill 10 at Nigerian pub

At least 10 people have been killed and several others seriously injured by unidentified gunmen at a drinking joint in Nigeria’s Plateau state, Xinhua reported.

The attack occurred Monday night during which eight people died on the spot, while two others gave-up Tuesday, said spokesperson for the Special Task-Force (STF) Captain Salisu Mustapha.

The incident occurred near the Heipan Airport at about 8 p.m. Monday.

Bodo tribals demand judicial probe into Kokrajhar

An organisation of Bodo tribals of Assam today demanded a judicial probe into the recent violence in Kokrajhar, alleging “aggression” against the indigenous people by illegal immigrants had led to the clashes that claimed 90 lives and rendered several hundreds homeless.

The demand was made at a day-long rally near the Parliament House here by about 1,500 tribals owing allegiance to 77 organisations under the banner of the Coordination Committee of Indigenous Tribal National Organisations, Kokrajhar MP S K Bwiswmuthiary said here.

Ajman, Oman discuss relations

Ajman, one of the seven emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman have reviewed their existing relations and explored ways to strengthen them.

The meet was held between Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, ruler of Ajman, and Omani ambassador to the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Ali Al Qatbi.

On this occasion, the Omani envoy also congratulated the Ajman ruler on the UAE’s 41st National Day and lauded the comprehensive cultural renaissance witnessed by the country.

Bangladesh to free 72 Indian fishermen

Altogether 72 fishermen, who were held in Bangladesh for violation of the international water boundary, were likely to return tomorrow, West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said today.

The matter has been settled through negotiation between the two countries and the intervention of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The fishermen were detained there for some time after they strayed into Bangladesh territory due to cyclonic weather.

The matter was heard by a local court there, Hakim said, adding that they were ultimately released.

Government today hailed India Inc for putting in place a code of conduct to include SC and ST community in the economic mainstream.

“It is good to note that Indian industry has set out an agenda which includes education, employability, employment and entrepreneurship along with a code of conduct to be followed to include SC/ST community in to economic mainstream,” Minister of state for Labour and Employment K Suresh said.

Five die in US house blaze

A total of five people, including three children, were killed Tuesday in a house fire in the rural areas of US’ Ohio state, Xinhua reported.

According to WTVG, an ABC-affiliated television station for northwest Ohio, which covers the Toledo area, the fire broke out in the morning about 80 km from Toledo. A truck driver spotted the flames and called for help. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was fully engulfed.

Govt spending money for public good, not on statues: Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that unlike the previous government which wasted public money on installing statues and developing parks, his government is focused on spending funds for benefit of people. “We brought the supplementary budget for benefit of farmers, medical care, roads, bridges and schemes like Kanya Vidyadhan for the common people, and not for installing stone statues. Whaling activities are driving large numbers of the Australian blue whales into Antarctica, currently on the endangered list, shows a study.

“Our genetic data unexpectedly found a higher proportion of pygmy blue whales in the Antarctic than the whaling catch data,” said Catherine Attard, study co-author and doctoral candidate at Macquarie University, who is researching blue whale genetics with Flinders University.

Key immune system gene could subdue HIV

A gene that protects the human embryo could possibly treat and subdue chronic infections such as HIV, hepatitis and tuberculosis.

The newly discovered gene, called Arih2, is basic to the immune system – making critical decisions about whether to switch it on during an infection or not.

Marc Pellegrini, Greg Ebert and colleagues from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research’s infection and immunity division, Australia, with collaborators from the University of Toronto, Canada, led the research, the journal Nature Immunology reported.
