Fake currency gang unearthed
(Siasat News): The North zone team of commissioner task force has unearthed a gang involved in making fake currency notes and recovered Rs. 6.5 lakh comprised of fake notes.

It is said that Prabhuchari, native of Medak, along with his two associates Chand Pasha and Raju, used to make fake currency with the help of a colour printer.

Obama win: India Inc happy, but outsourcing still a concern

Leaders of India Inc on Wednesday welcomed the re-election of Barack Obama as the U.S. President saying that continuity will be good for bilateral relations, but some of them expressed concerns over the outsourcing issue.

“This is a good development for India. Between two large economies there will be issues and concerns. Outsourcing is also a concern and I hope it will be addressed soon,” Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej told reporters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on India in Gurgaon.

The best was yet to come, a triumphant Barack Obama said after winning a second term as US president and thanked “every American” that had participated in the fiercely fought election.

Acknowledging the greeting of thousands of cheering supporters in Chicago, Obama, who defeated Republican Mitt Romney to get a second term in the White House, said: “We know in our hearts that for the United States of America, the best is yet to come.”

He congratulated Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan on a “hard fought campaign”.

US gay rights advocates claimed a major victory Tuesday as voters in Maine and Maryland became the first to approve legalizing same-sex marriage, media reported.

Telangana: Student commits suicide in Osmania University

Frustrated over the delay in formation of a separate Telangana state, an Osmania University student committed suicide, leading to tension in the campus on Wednesday.

V Santosh, a degree student of a college in the city, hung himself from a tree in front of Arts College in Osmania University, which has been witnessing violent protests by students for last three years demanding separate statehood to Telangana.

Bharti Airtel net down 29.7% to Rs. 721 crore

Telecom major Bharti Airtel’s net profit declined for the 11th quarter in a row, dropping by 29.7 per cent to Rs. 721.2 crore in July-September this year over the same period last year.

It had posted a net profit of Rs. 1,027 crore in the same period last fiscal, Bharti Airtel said in a BSE filing.

The total revenues were, however, up by 17.14 per cent to Rs. 20,283 crore in the quarter against Rs. 17,276.4 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s total subscriber base across services stood at 262.6 million globally at the end of September 2012.

2G auction will be over on first day; price too high: Mittal

The reserve price of Rs 14,000 crore set for airwaves is “too high” and the auction of 2G spectrum will be over on the first day itself, Bharti Group Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said today.

“Reserve price is too high and we have been saying that since day one,” Mittal told reporters here on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on India.

Next week, the Government is auctioning spectrum at a minimum bid price of Rs 14,000 crore for 5 MHz of airwaves for all the country’s 22 telecom zones.

Blast in Pakistan’s Peshawar city kills four

Four persons, including a senior police officer, were killed and about 30 others injured when a powerful bomb blast targeted a police vehicle in Peshawar city of northwest Pakistan Wednesday, officials and witnesses said.

Superintendent of Police Hilal Haider and three others were killed when the officer’s vehicle was hit by the blast outside a police station near the famous Qissa Khwani Bazar in the heart of Peshawar, the capital of the restive Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Three shot at California workplace: Report

A California newspaper is reporting that three people have been shot at a workplace in California.

The Fresno Bee reports that the shooting occurred at the Apple Valley Farms plant in the central part of Fresno. A call to police by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.

No additional details were immediately available, including the conditions of the victims.

Emraan Hashmi has never starred in a true blue romantic film and feels he is “pretty twisted” to ever feature in one.

“I don’t know about my sensibility, I don’t know about the way I look and if I fit in with my looks into a love story, whatever. But I think I am pretty twisted in my head to do a traditional romantic film,” the 33-year-old said here Tuesday at the launch of the DVD of “Raaz 3.”

“My idea of romance is also extremely quirky and twisted. I don’t think the world is ready for it yet,” he added.

As the first results started trickling in from the US presidential election, exit polls projected President Barack Obama to have 64 electoral votes to Republic challenger Romney’s 40. It takes 270 votes in the 538-member electoral college to win the White House.

The race is tight in Florida, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia, according to CNN.

Exit polls showed Obama has taken Vermont, Washington DC, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island in the winner-take-all elections in the states. Romney won Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina and West Virginia.

India’s trade volume rising with Nigeria

Improved relations between India and Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and a major oil exporter, have led to the trade volume between the two countries rising to $17.3 billion over the past year, Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria Mahesh Sachdev has said.

Speaking at the Indian Day celebrations at the Lagos International Trade Fair, which opened Nov 2, he said: “With bilateral trade of over $17.3 billion, India is currently Nigeria’s second largest trading partner. It is hoped that India’s participation will further enhance our bilateral trade.”

To stop the menace of pesky messages, telecom regulator Trai has said only 100 SMSes in a day per SIM card will be allowed at concessional rates.

For every SMS beyond the cap of 100 SMSes, a charge of minimum 50 paise will be applicable, the regulator said.

Israel ready to strike Iran: Netanyahu

Israel’s hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he was ready to press the strike button on Iran if economic sanctions fail to stop its nuclear programme.

Speaking on Israeli television, Netanyahu said Iran will not have the bomb as long as he was at the helm in Israel.

“I am, of course, ready to press the button if necessary,” he said, Israeli media reported.

Akhilesh cracks the whip, officials shunted out

After dragging its feet for several days on taking decisive action against officials who failed to control the communal clashes in Faizabad, the state government late Tuesday shifted the district magistrate (DM) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) of the district.

A government spokesman said that DM (Faizabad) Deepak Agarwal and SSP Ramit Sharma were replaced by Ajay Shukla and Dharmendra Singh.

The government also withdrew the charge of law and order from Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Jagmohan Yadav, hitherto considered very close to the ruling party.

Barack Obama is the third consecutive president of the US to retain office after his predecessors George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

Obama became the only African American to hold the office of president in 2009 and he has now defeated Republican Mitt Romney to get a second term in the White House.

His predecessor George W. Bush served as US president from 2001 to 2009.

William J. Clinton, better known as Bill Clinton, became president in 1993 and went on to retain his office till 2001.

Before him, George H.W. Bush had a single term from 1989-93.
