Sensex down 55 points as August derivatives end

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading 55 points lower in late afternoon trade as the August futures and options series expires Thursday and traders will roll over positions to the September series. Capital goods, metal and oil and gas were the worst performers.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,433.50 points, was ruling at 17,435.16 points, 0.32 percent or 55.65 points down from its previous day’s close at 17,490.81 points.

Samajwadi Party, Left demand probe by SC judge into coal allotment scam

Calling for normal functioning of Parliament, the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Left parties and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said on Thursday that a Supreme Court judge should investigate the coal block allocations scam.

The four parties will demonstrate in the Parliament House complex on Friday.

“A scam has occurred (in coal block allocation). There should be a probe and the guilty should be punished,” SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said.

TDP’s march towards Secretariat on energy crisis

(Siasat News)On Govt’s no assurance on the supply of electricity, TDP MLA’s tried to march once again towards Secretariat yesterday. Police foiled their attempt and arrested many TDP MLA’s and MLC’s.

TDP had organized a Dharna programme at Indira Park yesterday in connection with energy crisis in the State. They were demanding a clear assurance from the Govt. for the supply of electricity continuously for seven hours to farmers. Police acted promptly and stopped them from going to Secretariat. They were shifted to Chikkadpally Police Station.

Six killed as IAF choppers collide mid-air in Gujarat

Six defence personnel today were killed when two MI-17 choppers of Indian Air Force collided mid-air just after take off from an air base near Sarmat village of this district in Gujarat, IAF officials said.

The villagers, who witnessed the accident, said the two choppers collided soon after take off and crashed near the village, 15 kms from Jamnagar city.

The choppers were on training sortie, officials said.

“Two MI-17 choppers have collided mid-air in which at least six persons have died,” SP Jamnagar Harikrishna Patel told PTI.

New political Telangana Party Nava Nirman Sena formed

Partial funding for remodeling the heritage building –Metro Rail officials offer

Talking an initiative in this direction, the officials of Metro Rail have agreed to spend Rs.2 crore for the remodeling project of Moazzam Jahi Market, which costs Rs.16.375.

Despite payment of property tax notices were issued-owners complain

(Siasat News)There are many house owners in the city who never bothered to pay the property tax on time to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation although they were informed many a time but there a few owners of the properties who paid property tax on time but GHMC has issued notices to them. They are warned that if they don’t pay the tax, they have to pay heavy fines. Such owners get perturbed. May complaints are being received that the owners of such properties were asked to pay the taxes with fine even though they had already paid them.

BUMCET candidates proceeded to Vijayawada for counseling

Engineering Web counseling starts tommorow

Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority gets Rs.15 crore for Old City development

(Siasat News)Fulfilling his promise to develop Old City on the lines of the modern city of Hyderabad, Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, C.M. of A.P. has sanctioned Rs.15 crore for providing basic amenities to the residents of Old City.

This amount is in addition to the funds allocated to Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority earlier. C.M. has also sanctioned Rs. one lakh each to the victims of Naldurg in Maharastra who had met with an accident on 18th June.

Residents of Indiranagar deprived of water despite new water pipeline

Just because the MLA could find time to inaugurate the new pipeline, the residents of Indiranagar Tadbun are deprived of water for the past one year, despite the fact that the new water pipeline has been laid. According to local sources a government tap existed two years ago but the water supply got disconnected during construction of nala and sewerage line, following which the whole locality comprising of 200 houses had to approach their relatives for water.

Hajj camp to begin from Oct. 6, arrangements finalised

Rain, cloudburst killed 26 in Himachal Pradesh

At least 26 people have died in heavy rains and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh triggered by the southwest monsoon, which reached the state July 5, Revenue Minister Gulab Singh said on Thursday.

“Heavy rains and cloudbursts in various parts of the state claimed 26 lives during this monsoon,” he told the state assembly in a written reply.

The minister added that 1,892 houses have been damaged after the onset of monsoon over the state.

“The loss to public and private property in the state in terms of money has been estimated at Rs 896.02 crore.”
