Act tough against colleges if floated rules: Narasimha

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha today asked the officials of Task Force on Engineering Colleges to act tough against the colleges which flout rules and regulations. Talking to reporters after convening a meeting with the Task Force officials here, Mr Rajanarasimha said the inspection of colleges would begin from tomorrow.

He said inspections would be conducted based on the information provided by these colleges to the court and government and for implementing AICTE norms in all colleges in letter and spirit.

Minister asks TDP to explain why GO 69 was issued

Andhra Pradesh Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathi today asked the TDP to explain to the people of the state why it issued GO.69 in 1996, restricting the release of water from the Nagarjunasagar project to the Krishna Delta. Addressing a press conference here today, he said referring the GO.69, some Telangana leaders approached court, pleading to stop release of water to Krishna delta from Nagarjuna Sagar dam.

Dharmana Issue In CM’s Court: Botcha

Making it clear that he would not respond on Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao’s resignation issue, PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would look after it.

Narendra Modi slams Cong for ‘mismanaging’ country

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed the Congress for what he called the country’s “durdasha” (mismanagement) and urged the Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha to prevent the Congress from coming to power in the state.

“Congress is campaigning for ‘change of direction, change of situation’ in Gujarat. But due to the bad direction of the Congress, our country is in a bad situation at present. You will not let that atmosphere of ‘durdasha’ enter our soil,” he said while addressing a gathering of BJP Mahila Morcha in Gandhinagar.

Create R’seema State If Division Of AP Is Inevitable: Byreddy

TDP senior leader and Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi (RPS) president Byreddy Rajashekar Reddy has demanded that the Centre create a separate Rayalaseema State too in case it decides to divide the State.

Several Rayalaseema leaders met here on Sunday at Sridhar Function Hall under the RPS. Addressing the gathering, Byreddy said that the RPS was evolved only to achieve separate Rayalaseema State. He said that the RPS has established Rayalaseema JAC to chalk out an action plan for reaching the goal.

YSRCP Calls For State-Wide Bandh On Aug 31: Power Crisis

The YSR Congress Party has announced it’s agitation programme to protest against the Government’s negligent attitude in solving the power crisis, including State-wide bandh on august 31.

TRS Wants Kapu Rajaiah Award Constituted

TRS senior leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Sunday demanded that the State government constitute an award in the name of world-famous painting artiste of Telangana region late Kapu Rajaiah.

Chiranjeevi Wants Sub-Plan For BCs Too

Congress MP K. Chiranjeevi has suggested that there should be a sub-plan for welfare of the BC communities.

Expressing happiness over the report the cabinet sub-committee has prepared on the welfare of the SCs and STs, he said it was a historic step that the state government was taking to prevent diversion of funds meant for the welfare of these communities. Governor Takes Part In Marathon

Governor E S L Narasimhan participated n the closing ceremony of the marathon organized jointly by Hyderabad Runners and the Airtel at the Gachi Bowli stadium.

The marathon, which started on the Necklace Road, concluded at the stadium. The Governor participated in the closing ceremony enthusiastically.

Speaking on the occasion, Narasimhan said that marathon was not a running race. He said such events generate enthusiasm. The Governor and the first lady Vimala Narasimhan distributed prizes to winners of the event.

Tension At MGM On Arrival Of Ministers

Tension prevailed at the MGM hospital here on Sunday when the TRS MLAs and party workers staged a dharna protesting against the alleged negligence of the doctors and lack of amenities resulting in the deaths of children.

TRS MLAs Vinaya Bhaskar and Rajaiah led a large number of party activists in the protest when a group of ministers arrived here on a fact-finding mission into the deaths of children.

The TRS activists had heated argument with the police, who asked the protestors to leave the place. Police later arrested the MLAs and other activists and cleared the area.

Promotions To SC/ST Senior Lecturers Demanded

Telangana Malala JAC on Sunday demanded that the government promote the SC/ST senior lecturers working in the government polytechnics as heads of sections.

Speaking to the media here, the JAC chairman B Deepak Kumar said that the government was showing negligence in giving promotions to SC, ST senior lecturers as head of section. As per GO No 47, promotion would be provided to SC, ST lecturers, who had two years seniority and passed in second class in qualifying education as senior lectors and for senior lecturers as head of section. Two held for helping rape accused in Raj

Two persons were today arrested for allegedly helping two main accused of an abduction and rape
case in Sikar district, police said.

Girdhari and Yograj, who had helped the main accused in the case, were being interrogated since August 21 and were
arrested after their involvement was verified during the investigation, SP, Sikar, Gaurav Srivastava said.

A minor girl was abducted and raped by Suresh and Ramesh on the night of August 20, he said.

The duo were arrested from a village near Salasar road on Friday, the SP added.

Teenager raped in WB

A teenage girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Howrah district, police said today.

The incident took place last night when the class nine student was raped by Sheikh Shahrukh at a desolate place in
Krishanrampur village in the district, they said.

An FIR has been lodged against the absconding accused while the further probes are on, they added.
