Maths Olympiad 2012 for school students

TDP’s protest on energy crisis

(Siasat News)TDP MLA’s staged dharna programme in front of C.M’s chamber in Secretariat yesterday evening but they failed to get any assurance from the Chief Minister. They were demanding the Govt. to restore seven-hour current supply to farmers. The dharna, which was staged at the 6th floor in front of C.M’s Chamber, continued for six hours. During the agitation, electric supply was disconnected at the instance of the security personnel in Secretariat. The TDP MLA’s continued their agitation using the light of their cell phones.

BJP should consult own govts : Agarwal

Criticising the BJP for attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue of coal block allocation, state Congress media department chairman Manak Agarwal on Tuesday said the BJP should have consulted their governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh before going hammer and tongs against the PM.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has already rejected the CAG report on coal block allocation while Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had asked for additional coal for a power project, Agarwal told a news agency.

World Champion India U-19 team return home

India U-19 team returned home to a grand welcome on Tuesday after winning the ICC World Championship held in Australia by defeating the hosts on Sunday.

The team, led by Unmukt Chand, defeated defending champion Australia in the final by six wickets lifting the cup for the third time.

Duped by Pak husband, Indian woman yearns to return home

An Indian woman, who left her country and religion to marry a Pakistani man, claims that her husband has locked her up in a small room on the roof of their house here for the past 13 years.

Shirley Ann Hodges married Gul Muhammad Khan, a Pakistani money lender, after meeting him in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat in the summer of 1997. She changed her name to Shabnam Gul Khan and came to Pakistan in 2000 with her newborn daughter.

At the time, Khan said they were going to Pakistan to meet his family and that they would return to India within six months.

Don’t need certificate of responsibility: BJP

Hitting back Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the issue of Parliament disruption, BJP today said it did not need a certificate of responsibility from Congress party.

It also reminded Congress of accountability towards Parliament and said it wants to hold a debate on the coal blocks allocation issue only for the sake of it.

Responding to Gandhi’s attack against it for not allowing Parliament to function, the opposition party said, “We don’t need a certificate of responsibility from Congress, we need conduct of accountability from them.”

For the first time, Indian Haj pilgrims will get SIM cards of Saudi Telecom company at a nominal cost before commencing for the pilgrimage, officials said.

“It will have talk time of 5 Saudi Riyals and incoming calls can be received with zero balance also. The SIM will be preloaded with contact numbers of all concerned officials of the Consulate as well as other important numbers,” Indian Consulate in Jeddah has said.

“We knew from previous research that central obesity is bad, but what is new in this research is that the distribution of the fat is very important even in people with normal weight,” said Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, senior study author and cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

A special anti-corruption court has sentenced a dismissed homeguard jawan to one-year imprisonment for taking a Rs 10 bribe 12 years ago.

Special court Judge Neeraj Kumar Sangal on Saturday ordered jail term for suspended homeguard Ongkar Singh and imposed a fine of Rs 3000 for taking a bribe of Rs 10 from a truck driver at the city’s Railway Road Chauraha in 2000.

Number of missing people rising in AP

With an alarming rise in cases of missing people, especially women and children, since 2009, the Andhra Pradesh police have taken several measures to trace them in co-ordination with various agencies and police force from other states.

According to data available with the CID, there was an upward graph in the number of missing persons including women and children during the last four years. A total of 47,936 went missing since 2009. Of them 13,120 were women, 11,104 female children and 5,926 male children.

The technology has been created by Professor David Carroll of Wakeforest University’s Centre for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials in the US. It is the most inexpensive way to produce electricity.
