C.M.’s Iftaar Party at Nizam College on 13th August

(Siasat News) Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, C.M. of A.P. will host Iftaar party at Nizam College grounds on 13th August. General Administration Department has already started making arrangements for this programme on a large scale.

Some Muslim leaders of Congress Party had advised the Chief Minister to host Iftaar Party in a simple way in order to save huge expenditure on it and to divert the amounts thus saved to allocate for the construction of Aneesul Ghuraba Orphanage located at Nampally, Hyderabad.

National workshop on Skills Development – C.M. inaugurates today

(Siasat News) A national level workshop is being conducted by Rajiv Education and Employment Mission which is implementing Rajiv Yuva Kirnalu Scheme. This workshop is organized with the cooperation of Intel and FICCI. The objective of this programme is to understand the policies and strategies that are adopted by the national level agencies and Govt. departments. The topic of the workshop is “opportunities and challenges”.

Health cards for Govt. employees hailed

Govt. was reimbursing medical expenses of Govt. employees after they receive treatments from reputed private hospitals. The employees were facing a lot of difficulties in spending money on their own for treatment. They had to take loans for meeting medical expenses. The leaders of teachers’ union PRTU namely Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Khaja Moinuddin, Asrar Ahmed told that Govt. employees including the teachers were demanding for issuing health cards to Govt. employees on the lines of Arogyashree scheme.

Mr. Rizvi takes charge as collector of Hyderabad

Mr. Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi, IAS took charge as Collector of Hyderabad District yesterday from Mr. E. Sreedhar, Joint Collector to whom former Collector Mr. Natarajan Gulzar had handed over charge before proceeding to America for higher studies for two years.

After resuming charge, Mr. Rizvi met Mr. M. T. Krishna Babu, Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and discussed various issues relating to Urban Development and the cases pending.

Russia, Britain discussing space projects: Putin

Russia and Britain are discussing a number of space projects, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

“We plan to launch several British satellites,” Putin said while summing up his short visit to London.

“We would like to receive a positive response to the deployment of a Glonass (Russian satellite navigation system) station here, in Britain, to make the signal for Europe even more precise.”

“We also have opportunities of military and technical cooperation, which is good both from the viewpoint of the economy and political trust,” he said.

Belgium to help India develop railway stations

With the aim of developing railway stations to match global standards by leveraging commercial utilisation of land, Railways on Thursday joined hands with Belgium to carry out its modernisation plans.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders and Railway Minister Mukul Roy on bilateral co-operation for effective development and modernisation of railway sector of both the countries here.

42-year-old Sriniwas Thakur, a resident of Faridabad, was suffering from high blood pressure for a long time and was admitted to Asian Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Doctors diagnosed that he had kidney failure.

CM Held Review Meeting With Higher Education Dept Officials

In the light of Supreme Court verdict on engineering fee structure, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday held a meeting the officials concerned and discussed the matter.

The Minister for Finance, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Principal Secretary of Higher Education M G Gopal, State Higher Education Council Chairman Jayaprakash and other officials attended the meeting.

Two foreign nationals arrested in Hyderabad

Two Nigerians were arrested in Hyderabad for involvement in a credit card fraud, while a Ugandan and a South African were arrested for selling drugs, police said on Thursday.

All four, who included two woman students, were residing in Yapral in Ranga Reddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

According to MV Rao, additional deputy commissioner of police, the two drug peddlers were arrested on Wednesday night near Tarnaka when they were trying to sell cocaine. Nine grams of the drug was seized from them.

Goa Police step up vigil after Pune blasts

Stepping up vigil in wake of the Pune blasts, the Goa Police have asked hoteliers to keep an eye on tourists visiting the state.

Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh said that hoteliers from the Calangute area, 20 km from here, which sees the highest concentration of tourists annually, were sensitised about threats and that the exercise would be conducted in other tourist areas.

“They were sensitised about such threats and vulnerability and were requested to be more alert and to give any information about the suspicious people coming to their hotels for stay,” Singh told reporters.

Govt Committed To 50% Women Reservations In Local Bodies Elections

Suspected Al-Qaeda members held in Spain

At least three suspected members of the Al Qaeda terrorist group have been arrested and explosives and poisonous substances that could be used in terrorist attacks recovered from them by the Spanish police, according to Spain’s interior ministry.

The arrests were made Wednesday.

Police believe the suspects – two Chechens and a Turk – may have been planning “to commit terrorist acts in Spain”. The Turk was arrested in the La Linea town, while the other suspects were picked up from the central town of Ciudad Real.

Court grants 5-day CID custody to KVR in CDR leakage case

Centre to spend Rs 600 crore for Biodiversity Convention

The Central Government will spend Rs 600 crore for the successful conduct of Bio-Diversity Convention to be held in the city from October 1 to 19.

Addressing a press conference in the State Secretariat, AP Bio-Diversity Board chairman Dr R Hampiah informed that the arrangements were in full swing fo the conference. He said that 12 separate committees have been constituted to provide accommodation, transportation facility and security to more than 10,000 delegates from 198 countries.

Mopidevi applies for bail in CBI Court

Former Excise and Prohibition Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao on Thursday filed a petition in the CBI Special Court seeking bail in the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Admitting the petition, the special court posted the petition for hearing on Friday. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on May 25.

Telangana employees allege discrimination by Andhra officials

Alleging discrimination and disrespect by the State Government and Andhra officials over distribution of health cards to employees, members of Telangana Gazetted Officers Association on Thursday barged into the Secretariat where a review meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Minnie Mathews on the subject was going on.

Sensing the situation the officials have postponed the meeting immediately. Later, the Chief Secretary announced that the meeting would held on Friday.

Fresh wave of floods in Assam

At least 60 villages with a population of over 70,000 have been affected by fresh wave of floods in this Assam district.

The water level of Singra river has been rising alarmingly in 30 villages under Naoboicha revenue circle affecting more than 40,000 people, officials said today.

The water level of Ranganadi has also been rising and inundated 30 villages under Lakhimpur revenue circle.

India pushes for consensus on arms trade treaty

India Thursday said that a comprehensive legally-binding arms trade treaty should not be rushed through and underlined the need for forging consensus so that the proposed pact can make a real impact on the diversion of arms to terrorists.

“A number of delegations, including India, felt that the draft text needs further work and a treaty of this kind, which would be legally binding when in force, should not be rushed through,” said Syed Akbaruddin, the spokesperson of the external affairs ministry.

Start EAMCET counseling, demands YSRC

The YSR Congress Party has demanded the State Government not to shirk its responsibility and issue notification of EAMCET counseling immediately as a full academic year of the students is at stake.

“There is no point in going for an appeal(review petition) against the Supreme Court verdict on the fees structure, instead it should keep the welfare of students in mind and conduct the counselling immediately,” party spokesperson, Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Thursday.
