Drunk police constable suspended

A police constable was today suspended after allegedly being found under influence of alcohol while on duty in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan.

Jagdish Chandra, posted with Sadar police station, was consuming liquor in a vehicle today when some locals called up
the Superintendent of Police.

Following SP’s direction Chandra was taken for medical test and later suspended after the report came positive,
sources said.

Man found murdered in his flat

A 25-year-old man was today found murdered at his flat in Mishra Nagar locality here, police said.

We went to Anees Thakur’s flat after his female companion informed us that he was not attending her phone
calls, they said.

Police found Anees lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries after they broke open the door of his
flat.

According to police, the woman told them that the deceased attended a party last night and she had spoken to him
late night.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigations are on, police added. P

J-K govt to project unexplored areas at international level

The Jammu and Kashmir government was taking concerted measures for persevering heritage sites and projecting unexplored areas of the state at national and international levels, a state minister today said.

State government was taking concerted measures for the preservation and conservation of heritage sites,” J-K
minister for Health and Family welfare, Sham Lal Sharma said.

J-K was known for its scenic splendour and rich cultural heritage across the world and there were lot of unexplored
areas which need to be projected at national and international levels, he said.

Bomb hoax at SBI branch in Rajasthan

A bomb threat note found pasted on a wall of a State Bank of India (SBI) branch sent authorities into a tizzy here today but it turned out to be a hoax.

The hand written note, found near the staircase of the building at Gumanpura area of the city, claimed that a bomb
had been planted in the bank.

A thorough search was carried out in the building and adjoining areas. However, no bomb or explosive was recovered
from the building or from the nearby areas.

The agent branch office of Life Insurance Cooperation also runs in the same building on the second floor. The note

‘Go Govinda’ is an item song with a difference: Sonakshi

Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who will be doing an item song for the first time in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Oh My God’, says that the song is different from other such songs.

The song ‘Go Govinda’ from ‘Oh My God’, will have Sonakshi and Prabhu Deva, who has choreographed the song,
shaking the leg.

“The term item song is used very loosely today. Any solo number is termed as an item song. This (‘Go Govinda’) is
a good song with Prabhu and is very different from other item numbers,” Sonakshi told reporters here at a promotional event of her another upcoming film ‘Joker’.

Abu Salem seeks stay on trial in extortion case

Extradited underworld don Abu Salem today moved a Delhi court seeking stay on his trial in an extortion case after dismissal of India’s appeal against the cancellation of his extradition by Portugal?s Constitutional court.

In his application to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidya Prakash, Salem demanded that his trial be stayed as its “continuation after termination of the authorisation granted for his extradition is against the law, justice and without jurisdiction.

Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha here on Saturday opined that the government has responsibility to ensure facilities in the government colleges.

Wives hold protest for constable husbands

Tension prevailed at the APSP 8th Battalion main gate at Kondapur when wives of constables staged a protest march condemning the harassment of their husbands by the commandant.

Raising slogans against Battalion Commandant Ramesh Naidu’s high handedness and alleged harassment, hundreds of wives of constables staged a dharna at the main gate and accused him of not sanctioning leave to the constables. They alleged that the commandant was seeking Rs 500 for sanction of leave for their husbands.

A spurned youth allegedly threw a kerosene lamp at an 18-year-old girl who died after suffering burn injuries, police said today.

The youth barged into the girl’s house here late in the night and allegedly threw a kerosene lamp at her setting her
alight, police said.

The girl, a resident of Naseemnagar locality, died on way to a hospital, they said.
