Fees reimbursement report in conflict

(Siasat News) The Cabinet Sub-Committee Report on fees Reimbursement has met with conflicts. 1t was suggested in the report that Govt. would pay Rs. 31,000/- to the students of Engineering courses, whereas the excess amount of fees has to be either paid by the student. or Govt. would arrange loans from the banks. The experts committee recommended that only those students would be eligible to get fees reimbursement who would qualify the examination securing 50% marks. This suggestion has been made by admission and fees regulatory committee in case the fees for engineering courses is enhanced.

Phone facility for prisoners planned in jails in AP

After the introduction of telephone facility at the Cherlapally Central Prison here evoked a good response among jail inmates, the Andhra Pradesh Department of Prisons has decided to extend the service to other central jails in the state.

The move is aimed at bringing down the smuggling of cell phones into jails. It would enable prisoners to communicate with their family members in an official way, for which, they will have to pay Rs 200 per month.

Monica Bedi to make debut in Punjabi film

Bollywood actress Monica Bedi, who was last seen in “Bigg Boss”, is all set to make her debut in Punjabi film.

Bedi, 37, will feature in “Sirphire” along with actors Priyanshu Chatterjee and Gurleen Chopra. The film is produced by Gurpreet Singh Sidhu.

“I have done Hindi films, acted in Telegu, Tamil, Gujarati and Nepali films as well. I have done all sorts of films, but I had to wait for long for the right script to act in a Punjabi movie.

When I read the script of this movie, I knew the hunt was over,” Bedi said here today.

Only 21% MBAs are employable in India: Study

The employability of management graduates in India has declined in the past five years, as only 21 percent of MBAs surveyed are ’employable’, a study has said.

According to the MBAUniverse.Com–MeriTrac employability study 2012, which covered 2,264 MBAs from 29 cities and 100 B-Schools, beyond the Top 25, only 21 percent are employable.

The previous study of 2007 by MeriTrac had placed employability index at 25 percent.

Minor girl dies after abortion

An unmarried pregnant minor girl died after an abortion was performed by a nurse at Kothapeta here today.

Police said after the 16-year-old got pregnant, her parents consulted Vijaya Kumari, working as a nurse in a hospital. She performed the abortion in her residence seven days ago. Police said victim was cheated by one Sambasiva Rao who assured to marry her but later went back on his promise. The victim suffered heavy bleeding after the abortion and was admitted to the government general hospital.

Nityananda files petition in HC over release of film

Self-styled Godman Nityananda today filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court praying for stopping the release of Kannada-based film ‘Swamy Satyananda,’ which was dubbed into Telugu. Nityananda’s counsel, who moved the petition in the High Court, mentioned the Kannada movie, claimed to be based on his real life, was dubbed into Telugu and if the movie was released, the sentiments of his devotees would be hurt. Nityananda also mentioned in his petition this film portrayed him in a derogatory manner and attempted to insult and defame him.

Zardari writes to Myanmar Prez on Rohingya issue

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the loss of life and property of Rohingya Muslims in ethnic clashes in the state of Rakhine in Myanmar.

In a letter addressed to his Myanmarese counterpart, Zardari called for hastening the process of rehabilitation of Rohingya Muslims so that they can return to their homes and lead a “safe and secure life”.

The government and people of Pakistan “were saddened to learn about the losses of the Muslims and were deeply concerned about their plight”, Zardari said.

Will look at every aspect in Geetika case: Women’s panel

A National Commission for Women (NCW) team, probing the suicide of former flight attendant Geetika Sharma, Tuesday said it will look into every possible aspect in her death.

“We have spoken to her (Sharma’s) parents, brother. We will be soon talking to (former Haryana minister) Gopal Kanda also,” NCW member Shamina Shafiq told reporters.

Sharma committed suicide Sunday at her north Delhi residence, accusing Kanda of harassing her.

“Statements have been recorded. We will look into every aspect of the case,” Shafiq added.

581 police stations in Odishatolink with criminal networking system

Altogether 581 police stations along with other district police offices and higher offices in Odisha will be connected through specially developed software called Crime and Criminal Networking System to facilitate and expedite the process of crime tracking.

In total 748 locations in the state will be connected under the system.

The survey of all locations have been completed by BSNL.

While 213 locations will be connected though VSAT, 216 will be connected through BSNL exchange and 319 will be connected through VPN over broadband.

Four killed in Pakistan bomb blast

At least four security men were killed and a dozen others injured on Tuesday night after a bomb planted alongside a road in Pakistan’s Balochistan province exploded, Geo News reported.

The Deputy Commissioner of Balochistan confirmed the killing of four security men of Balochistan Constabulary.

The incident occurred after a paramilitary troops’ van came under bomb attack, Xinhua reported.

Assam violence: Gogoi recommends CBI probe, toll 73

Fresh incidences of violence were reported in lower Assam districts even as the government on Tuesday recommended a CBI probe into the ethnic clashes, which have left 73 dead.

In the worst-affected Kokrajhar district, three persons were killed and two others injured when some persons opened fire on a group of people at Ranibuli village late last night while one more body was found today in neighbouring Chirang district, IGP (Law and Order) L R Bishnoi said.

Indefinite curfew has been reimposed in Kokrajhar, while round-the-clock curfew continues in Chirang.
