Counselling date for Engg seats to be taken today

Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has said that a final decision would be taken on Sunday on the dates of counseling for Engineering seats.

Damodar said that a meeting with the officials concerned would be held tomorrow to finalize the dates for Engineering counseling. The government was planning to start counseling from August 6, he said, adding that counseling was delayed for finding a permanent solution to the fee issue.

Chinese teacher sacked for stripping students

A university lecturer in China has been sacked from his post for asking women students to expose their private parts and touch themselves during a test, reported Shanghai Daily.

According to Guangzhou Daily, employed with the University of south China in Hunan province’s Hengyang city, Yu Xiaohua asked women students of the School of Nursing to take off their clothes, including pants, during a test.

The test simulates the physical examination for patients.

Muslims help in temple construction in Ramadan in Bihar

In an example of communal harmony in India, Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan have helped in the construction of a Jain temple in Bhagalpur town of Bihar.

Mohammad Janeshar Akhtar even demolished a portion of his house Friday to enable the movement of a 70-foot long truck laden with a granite stone block, being carried for making an idol at the temple, officials said Saturday. Other Muslims helped widen the street so that the vehicle could reach the temple without much difficulty.

I’ve never been conscious of my body: Bipasha

Bipasha Basu, who has posed in itsy-bitsy clothes for a bold poster of “Raaz 3”, says she had no reason to hire a body double for the shoot as she is comfortable with her toned body.

“I have always been comfortable in my skin and never been conscious of my body,” Bipasha said in a press statement.

According to insiders, producers were reluctant to approach Bipasha for the shoot, given its controversial nature and had considered using a body double, and later morphing the actress’s face onto the model’s body.

However, Bipasha insisted on shooting for it herself.

Conference of medical students in Hyderabad from Aug 31

Over 1,000 medical students from across the country will attend ‘OSMECON 2012’, a national conference to be held at the Osmania Medical College here.

The three-day conference beginning on August 31 will present interesting clinical cases and research papers and also features debate on cannabis, a medical quiz and workshops on basic life support skills and surgical skills.

For the first time, Andhra Pradesh will made public the details of the assets held by Members of Legislative Assembly by displaying the information on website.

The MLAs have been asked to furnish details of their assets and liabilities to the Speaker within the next 15 days so that it can be put up on website.

Samosas

Ingredients:
1 cup white four
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
Clarified butter (Ghee) for frying
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 Tablespoon ginger, very finely chopped
1 Cup ground meat
2 Tablespoon peas
1 Teaspoon freshly ground coriander powder
1 teaspoon freshly cumin
1-1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala
1 Tablespoon fresh Cilantro, chopped
1 large potato, boiled, peeled and mashed
2 teaspoon lemon juice
Salt to taste

Method:

Popcorn Chicken

Ingredients:
1 lb. boneless chicken breast
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup self rising flour
1 tbsp black pepper
salt (to taste)

First cut chicken into small bite size pieces.
Add salt and pepper. Add self rising flour.
Now add about 2 tablespoons water. Mix well.(you should have a thick batter) In a seperate bowl add plain flour, salt, & pepper. (If you want chicken to be spicy you can add red pepper and garam masala to taste!)
Now take chicken and coat in the plain flour mixture, one piece at a time.

OIC to discuss problems facing Muslim nations

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will attend an extraordinary two-day summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation to be held in Saudi Arabia next month to discuss problems facing Muslim nations.

The summit has been convened by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to discuss the current situation in the Muslim world, including the threats of “fragmentation and sedition”.

Pakistani officials confirmed that Zardari would represent Pakistan at the summit to be held in Makkah during August 14-15.

Cab explosion in Kashmir claims 2 lives, injures 6

Two persons were on Saturday killed and six others injured in an explosion in a cab in Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The explosion took place at Bijbehara, 45 km from here, resulting in the death of two women and injuries to six others, official sources said.

They said four of the injured have been referred to a hospital here in critical condition.

Police is investigating the cause of the explosion.

TN fishermen return home

The 23 Tamil Nadu fishermen, set free by a court in Sri Lanka after being detained by the island navy on the charge of poaching, arrived at Mandapam coast near here on Saturday.

The fishermen, taken into custody on July 22 when they were fishing near Katchatheevu, were released by a court in Mannar on Friday after India made an appeal to Sri Lanka.

Japan to accept patients from disputed islands off Hokkaido

Japan will accept two patients from two of the four Russian-held islands off Hokkaido at hospitals on the northernmost Japanese main island as part of its support programme for Russian residents of the disputed islands, the Japanese Foreign Ministry has said.

The hospitals will accept the two female patients in their teens from Kunashiri and Etorofu islands, one of whom is suffering from a bone disease and the other from a hearing impairment, from July 30 through August 17, the ministry said yesterday.

Japan has accepted patients from the islands since fiscal 1998.

It’s time for healing: PM tells Assam victims

Sharing the “pain” of Assam riots victims, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday said it was now “time for healing” and assured them of government help to meet their needs.

Manmohan Singh, who reached Kokrajhar earlier in the day to visit relief camps for victims of the clashes between Bodos and Muslims, also appealed to the people of the state to shun recriminations and to help efforts for rehabilitation and to foster peace.

India has raised with the UK the issue of visa problems being faced by its professionals and the way they are impacting bilateral trade and investments.

At a meeting with British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vince Cable, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has said, “The bilateral trade and investment between the two nations is getting impacted by difficulties in obtaining visas.”

Sharma said India wants to make sure that business visitors are able to travel to the UK without facing visa related troubles.

Two tourists killed in Kashmir grenade attack

Two tourists were killed and four others were injured in a separatist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

“Militants tossed a hand grenade at a Tavera taxi carrying tourists in Bijbehara town, 45 km from here. The grenade exploded inside the vehicle resulting in the death of two tourists and injured four others,” a senior police official said.

The injured have been taken to hospital. The area has been condoned off and a search operation is on, the official said.

Govt not breaking Team Anna’s unity: Narayanasamy

Slamming Team Anna, Union Minister V Narayanasamy on Saturday said there was lack of unity among members of Anna Hazare’s team and dismissed the charge that government was trying to break it.

“There is already no unity among the members of Anna Hazare’s team. So, there is no need for us to break their unity, as someone alleged,” the Minister of state in the PMO told reporters at the airport here.

Narayanasamy’s remarks come in the wake of charge by Hazare in the backdrop of his meeting with Law Minister Salman Khurshid that the government was conspiring to split his team.

Jet Airways Delhi-Jaipur flight suffers bird hit

A Delhi-Jaipur flight of Jet Airways on Saturday suffered a bird hit during landing at Sanganer airport here following which the aircraft was grounded for technical inspection.

However, the landing was safe and no untoward incident occurred due to the bird hit, the airport sources told a news agency.

The flight landed here this morning and was scheduled to return to Delhi after 30 minutes. But it was cancelled as the aircraft developed some snag after the bird hit, they said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is visiting violence-hit Assam on Saturday, assured all possible help to the victims.

“My govt will do everything possible to help the victims,” the PM while visiting a relief camp in Kokrajhar.

“I have come here to share your sorrow and pain; this is time for healing,” Singh added.

The PM, who arrived in Guwahati this morning, travelled to violence-hit Kokrajhar district in an IAF helicopter after the previous chopper he was travelling in flew back here following a technical snag.

“Each evening sex workers descend on the bus stop to solicit customers due to which men come here and start creating problems even to the women waiting for their buses,” complained a resident of Hyderabad

PM visits relief camps riot-hit Kokrajhar

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reached strife-torn Kokrajhar on his visit to Assam to take stock of the situation on Saturday. Manmohan Singh visited two relief camps in Kokrajhar and interacted with the people there. “My government will do everything possible to help the victims.

We are here to talk to the people directly,” he said.

He said that this was not the time for recriminations and the country needs to first help the people to rehabilitate and bring peace.
