Sponsors of importers of counterfeits will face criminal charges: Dubai Customs

Emarati sponsors of companies that import contraband or counterfeit products will face criminal charges, said Yusuf Al Sahlawi, executive director of Dubai Customs.

Al Sahlawi called on Emiratis to control the activities of companies under their sponsorship regardless of the amount of sponsorship money received by them.

This came during a recent ‘Rouh Al Qanoon’ (Spirit of the Law) programme presented by lawyer Eisa bin Haider on Noor Dubai Radio.

The programme discussed the role of Customs in the fight against counterfeit goods.

Constable crushed to death by Sand Mafia

A head constable has been crushed to death in Dholpur in Rajasthan. The police suspect the involvement of the local sand mafia. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Mahendra Singh.

A sand-laden truck was found abandoned near the crime scene. It is suspected that it was carrying illegally mined sand.

The police has cordoned off the crime scene and were carrying out investigations. No arrests have been made yet.

The incident comes three months after IPS officer Narendra Kumar was allegedly killed by the mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district.

Sarabjit Singh files fresh clemency appeal

Death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh, convicted for alleged involvement in bomb attacks in 1990 in Pakistan, has sent a fresh clemency appeal to President Asif Ali Zardari, a media report said on Tuesday. This is the fifth mercy petition from Sarabjit, who was sentenced to death for alleged involvement in a string of bombings in Punjab in 1990 that killed 14 people.

The 49-year-old Indian is currently being held at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore and has been on death row for over 20 years.

Deceived woman comes back from Saudi Arabia

Ms. Zakira Begum, resident of Saadatnagar, Yakutpura was recruited by an agent for household work in Riyaz, Saudi Arabia. She went to Riyaz on 3rd May and soon after joining duty in a private house two Saudi citizens Ewaz and Saleh removed her hair and compelled her to do unpleasant works. Regular legislation necessary for Muslim reservations

Once again, AP High Court has struck down reservation of 4.5% to Minorities. How long this kind of treatment will be meted out to the Minorities? Cancellation of Muslim reservations unfortunate

Mr. Mohammed Iftekharuddin Ahmed Advocate, President of Muslim Reservation Front told that it is the most unfortunate that AP High Court has struck down the Reservations for the Muslims. He told that Govt. of India failed to produce effective arguments in support of Muslim reservations.

He said that Govt. of India took hasty decision to provide 4.5% reservation to Minorities out of the already existing reservation of 27% provided for other Backward classes. In this connection, Govt. of India did not take into consideration the legal implications and took a hasty decision.

YSR Congress responsible for Jagan’s arrest: Law Minister

Muslim reservation: Cong intention not pure, says Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said it was for the Congress to comment on the order of the Andhra Pradesh High Court striking down 4.5 per cent sub-quota to minorities within OBC reservation in central educational institutions and jobs.

“The Congress intention for giving reservation to Muslims is not pure and the party is raising the issue to mislead Muslims,” the chief minister told reporters here.

He said if the Congress was at all interested in giving reservation to Muslims, it should bring an amendment to the Constitution on the issue.

Witchcraft practitioner arrested in Rain Bazar

Rain Bazar Police arrested a sorcerer (magician) by name Syed Mohsin (55) from Rain Bazar area yesterday.

It is said that he is a resident of King Kothi area. He had hired a house in Imam Bada area of Rain Bazar locality and had started witchcraft practice. Articles used in witchcraft were also seized from his custody.

Police has registered a case against him under sections 420 and with hundy. It is reported that he was cheating women and children by false practices.

ED to move court to question Jagan

After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to turn the heat on MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on charges of corruption.

The ED would be filing a petition in the CBI court Wednesday, seeking permission to question Jagan, as the YSR Congress chief is known, who was sent to judicial custody for two weeks by the court May 28.

A team of ED officials have reached Hyderabad from New Delhi and are working with their counterparts here to carry out the investigations.

Militants fire at CRPF men in Srinagar; 7 injured

Seven CRPF personnel were injured in a militant attack in Srinagar early Wednesday.

Reports said two bike-borne militants opened indiscriminate firing on a CRPF vehicle in which jawans were travelling.

The incident occurred in the Rainawari area.

“Seven CRPF troopers were injured in the firing. The jawans were immediately evacuated to hospital for treatment. The condition of two is critical,” an officer said.

Authorities rushed heavy reinforcements to the area, which has now been surrounded for searches to trace the two motorcycle-borne assailants who fired at the vehicle.

Youth held for beating father to death

A 21-year-old youth was arrested on charges of beating his father to death, police said today. One Avinash Mukne was arrested yesterday for the murder his 40-year-old father Ashok, police inspector Vijay Pawar of Manor police station said. The victim, who used to live with his wife and son Avinash in village Nandgaon-Pada in Manor, was working as a mason.

Assure formation of Telangana within 3 months – BJP
