Bilawal wants Interpol to issue red warrant against Musharraf

London: Pakistan’s slain Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s son has said that his country has asked Interpol to issue a “red warrant” against former military ruler Parvez Musharraf in his mother’s assassination case.

Pakistan has asked Interpol to issue a “red warrant” for Musharraf’s arrest, 23-year-old Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told the Sunday Times.

Musharraf, who has always denied any involvement, has been living in London since he resigned after elections in 2008 which brought Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples’ Party to power.

CBI arrests Jagan Mohan Reddy in illegal assets case

Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who made a stunning rise in politics after rebelling against Congress, was today arrested by the CBI in a disproportionate assets case.

The arrest of 39-year-old Jagan came after three days of intense grilling by the CBI and comes just ahead of by-elections to 18 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat in the state.

“CBI arrested Jagan Mohan Reddy at 7.15 PM,” CBI spokesperson said.

Seven railway officials suspended in Andhra Pradesh train accident

New Delhi: Seven officials, including two loco drivers, have been suspended by the Railways in connection with last Tuesday’s rail mishap in Andhra Pradesh that claimed 25 lives.

The May 22 accident of Hubli-Bangalore Hampi Express at Penukonda station in Anantapur district of South Western Railway also injured 55 people.

Assets case: Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy arrested

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy after three days of questioning in the illegal assets case.

Jagan appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the third consecutive day on Sunday in the disproportionate assests case.

Jagan, as the Kadapa MP is popularly known, reached Dilkusha Guest House, the CBI camp office, at 10.30 a.m. He was
accompanied by Congress MP Sabbam Hari and Congress legislators Alla Nani and S. Krishna Rao.

TV reports claim Jagan was taken away around 7: 20pm.

BJP condemns Modi’s comparison with Goebbels

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday strongly objected to the Congress comparing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, terming it “malicious” and “deeply condemnable”.

“Not even a single criticism of Shri Narendra Modi against the governance of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) is factually incorrect,” said BJP general secretary and spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Dad died of kidney failure: Robin Gibb’s son

Robin Gibb’s son Robin John has clarified that his father died of kidney failure and not of cancer as has been reported in media.

Gibb passed away May 20.

“It wasn’t the cancer that killed my father. Those reports are wrong,” Robin John, also known as RJ, was quoted as saying by contactmusic.com

“Dad had actually gone into remission and the cancer was completely unrecognisable, it was too small to detect. No scan could see it. He actually died of kidney failure,” he added.

Iraqi president calls for national dialogue to avoid growing rifts

Baghdad, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani urged the country’s deeply-divided political factions to resolve their political dispute through national dialogue to avoid growing tensions that could split the country.

“I am firmly convinced of the seriousness of the current circumstances which entail that we speed up efforts to sit on the table of brotherly and constructive dialogue,” Talabani said in a statement posted on his website and obtained by Xinhua on Sunday.

American arrested with live cartridges

New Delhi, An American man has been arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here with 23 live cartridges, police said Sunday.

The discovery was made when he was about to board a Turkish Airlines flight.

“The passenger said he brought the bullets from the US. But he was not holding valid license,” a police official said.

Video: Horrific Saudi car stunt leaves men dead

Two young Saudi men were killed after their vehicle overturned many times during a car stunt which was filmed live and published on YouTube showing the two flung out of the car before the eyes of a large horrified crowd.

The Saudi Police have yet to verify the film and whether any part of it has been doctored. However, they are investigating the incident.

Man held in Saudi for tattooing women

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested an Arab man involved in drawing tattoos on women’s bodies at their homes.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice identified the man after receiving a tip off that he visited women at their homes for hair cuts and tattooing.

A police undercover posting as a private driver of a woman phoned the man and told him his boss wanted him to go to her for tattooing.

Homage to Nehru on 48th death anniversary

India Sunday paid homage to its first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 48th death anniversary.

President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid floral tributes at Shanti Van, Nehru’s memorial here.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath were also present at the memorial, which was marked by an all religion prayer session.

Nehru was born in Allahabad Nov 14, 1889. He died in Delhi May 27, 1964.

According to a survey conducted by a national magazine the Osmania University has been ranked sixth among the top 10 universities in India.
