YSRC leaders arrested throughout the state

In a precautionary swoop, police have arrested the YSR Congress official spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakara Rao and party’s Nellore Lok Sabha candidate Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy on Monday.

According to information, police have arrested Jupudi when he went to Kukatpalli to have a medical checkup at a hospital there. He was taken to his house, where he was kept under house arrest.

Jagan himself responsible for his woes: Balakrishna

Telugu Desam Party leader and film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has said that YSR Congress Party president and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was going to Jail, as he had committed irregularities. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy himself was responsible for the present situation.

Speaking to the media persons here on Monday, he likened Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to late NTR in the party. Due to busy film shooting schedules, Balakrishna said that he could not campaign in the by-election. He said that NTR family members were striving united for Telugu Desam party.

Lakshmi Parvathi faults CBI

Former Chief Minister late N.T. Rama Rao’s wife, Lakshmi Parvathi has alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was functioning like a political system and she had no faith in the CBI.

On the occasion of NTR birth anniversary, Lakshmi Parvathi paid tribute at NTR Gardens. Speaking to the media persons, she hoped that YSR Congress Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy would come out clean from the disproportionate assets case. AOU distance EDN exam put- off to June 4

The Ambedkar Open University has postponed the distance education first year examination slated for today.

In view of the statewide Bandh call given by YSR congress party following the party president YS Jagan’s arrest by the CBI, the examination has been postponed to avoid in-connivance to the Students. The University officials said that the postponed examination would be conducted on June 4. (NSS)

Three YSRC youth try to attack KVP’s house; arrested

Banjara Hills police have arrested three youth who have tried to attack the former chief minister Dr YSR’s close friend and Rajya Sabha member Dr KVP Ramachandra Rao’s house, protesting against the arrest of YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

On Monday morning, three youth known to be YSRCP activists have tried to attack the house of Dr KVP. But the police, who were present there, immediately responded and detained the youth and shifted them to Banjara Hills police station.

BJP supports Jagan; says Cong using CBI to oppress opponents

BJP has expressed support to the beleaguered YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Party senior leader Muktar Abbas Naqvi has charged Congress party of using the CBI for oppressing its political opponents. He said the Congress got Jagan arrested because it was unable to digest his increasing popularity. Former minister Dr Shanker Rao has predicted that the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would have great political future after he comes out from the criminal cases.

FM to tell CMs to consider sales tax cut on petrol

Amid widespread protests, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will soon write to state chief ministers to consider cut in sales tax on petrol to partly neutralise the impact of the Rs 7.54-per-litre hike in the price of the auto fuel.

“We are awaiting inputs from the Petroleum Ministry. The Finance Minister will be asking the state chief ministers to lower duties,” an official said.

Potential for petroleum products trade with India: Pakistan minister

Petroleum Minister Asim Hussain on Monday said there is a potential for trade in petroleum products between India and Pakistan, which is interested in importing furnace oil and diesel from the neighbouring country.

Initiation of talks in this sector will prove to be a step in the right direction, Hussain said during a meeting with an Indian delegation that is visiting Pakistan to discuss trade in petroleum products.

He informed the delegation regarding progress in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline project.

Paternity suit: ND Tiwari to give blood sample today

Veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari on Tuesday will have to give his blood sample in Dehradun on the Supreme Court’s orders to determine a paternity lawsuit.

The deadline set by the court ends on Monday. The question is will Tiwari voluntarily give his sample or will force have to be used? Petitioner Rohit Shekhar and his mother will be at Tiwari’s residence when the sample will be taken by two doctors who are being supervised by the Delhi High Court. Pakistani team in Champions League Twenty20, says report

Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla has told a private television channel that Pakistan’s Sialkot Stallions will compete in this year’s Champions League.

Shukla told Geo Television that the “decision will be stamped” in the Champions League’s governing board meeting later on Monday in which Australia and South Africa will also participate.

This year’s Champions League will be held in India and it will be the first time that Pakistan’s domestic Twenty20 champions will be invited to the tournament.

255 candidates in fray for by-polls

At the end of withdrawal of nominations on Monday, as many as 255 candidates remained in fray for the by-elections to be held in 18 Assembly constituencies and Nellore Lok Sabha constituency on June 12.
