There is a need to launch a protest campaign to seek political reservations in order to enter the portals of Assemblies and Parliament. Communal elements evolve various strategies to stop the Muslims from reaching the policy making political bodies. Keeping the situation in mind, the Muslims should evolve their strategy for struggling to get political reservations.

Summer Vocational course by M.D.F

(Siasat News) Siasat and Minorities Development Forum are offering short term summer vocational courses. A meeting of the incharges of centres was held at Siasat office yesterday under the chairpersonship of Mr. Khadija Sultana, Convener, Ladies wing of M.D.F. Applications were invited from various welfare organization of the city for organizing summer courses for imparting vocational training. She said that MDF will provide guidance for organizing these vocational courses. MDF has been active in this field for the past 10 years. It has established branches in Hyderabad and the districts.

Md Ali Shabbir is Chairman Media committee of Congress in A.P

(Siasat News) Former Minister Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir has been nominated Chairman of A.P. Congress media committee. Mr. B. Satyanarayana, APCC President issued orders after consulting the chief minister of A.P.

It may be recalled that for taking part in the conferences and teleconferences of APCC , a media committee consisting of 36 members was nominated taking 18 legislators and 18 other members.

Mr. Shabbir was nominated as convener of the media committee earlier. Now his status has been elevated and he has been made chairman of Congress media committee.

Haj pilgrims – 17000 applications received – Draw on 10th June

(Siasat News) A.P. State Haj Committee received nearly 17,000 applications for Haj 2012. It is said that state Haj Committee will get nearly 6,000 pilgrims’ quota this year. In 2011, the quota fixed was 6,222 which was later increased to 7525. It is expected that after including Govt. employees’ quota, nearly 8,000 pilgrims from the state will get an opportunity to perform Haj this year.

At least 10% applicants fall under the reserved quota which includes persons aged 70 and above and those who could not be selected for the past three years.

Mini-general election to be held on June 12

Three months after several Congress MLAs were disqualified and crossed over to the YSR Congress, the Election Commission on Tuesday ordered by-elections to be held on June 12 to fill the vacancies to 18 Assembly and the Nellore Lok Sabha constituency.

Kanimozhi may appear before ED today

DMK MP Kanimozhi may appear before Enforcement Directorate on Thursday to record his statement in connection with its probe into alleged financial irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation case, according to reports.

Reportedly, Kanimozhi has been asked by the agency to either come herself or send an authorised representative for submission of financial documents and recording of statement on April 26 (today), ED sources said.

Gilani guilty of contempt: SC

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is guilty of contempt for refusing to obey an order to write to the authorities in Switzerland to ask them to re-open corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.

In a symbolic sentence for the Pakistan Premier, Gilani has been sentenced for ’30 seconds’. He was convicted for violating Article 63(1) (g) of the Constitution, but escaped jail term.

Talking to Geo News, Gilani termed the verdict as inappropriate.

BJP refutes talk of colluding with Cong on T issue

According to a press note, Prof. Sathyanarayana’s paper entitled ‘Migration of Telugus to Burma and Dubai in the Era of Globalisation’ has been accepted for presentation.

Gangula family refuses to contest in allagadda; Likely to join YSRC

The Gangula family has rejected the congress party’s request to contest from the Allagadda constituency in the by-elections, schedule for which was announced.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, Gangula brothers Pratap Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy have said they could not continue in Congress as it has been following dual standards. They have announced that they would be resigning to the party.

Anna to meet leaders over Lokayukta

Anna Hazare will be meeting top political leaders in Mumbai on Thursday, to garner political support for a strong Lokayukta legislation in Maharashtra.

Hazare would meet Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday morning. He is also expected to meet Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray.

Ajit Pawar had met Hazare last year at his Ralegan Siddhi village.

“Anna’s two-day schedule in Mumbai is packed with meetings on Lokayukta issue with those who matter in state politics,” Hazare’s aide Datta Awari said.

CID takes Bhanu Kiran into custody

CID police have taken Bhanu Kiran, prime accused in the murder of Rayalaseema faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, into its custody here on Wednesday.

On the request of the CID, a city court has permitted custody of Bhanu Kiran for nine days. The court has directed the investigating agency to interrogate him only from 10 am to 5 pm and without using third degree methods. They have also to interrogate him in the presence of his relatives or lawyer.

There are 15 cases pending against Bhanu Kiran, the main one being Suri’s murder. (NSS)

Vijaya Sai’s bail petition transferred to nagamaruti sarma’s court

The CBI Special Court has accepted the plea of auditor Vijaya Sai Reddy, second accused in the illegal assets case against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, to transfer his bail petition to the court of another CBI judge Naga Maruti Sarma.

Judge Nagamaruti Sarma was heading this Special Court when Vijaya Sai Reddy was granted bail. However, he was transferred to the Second Additional Special court as three more courts were established. Judge Pullaiah was posted in Judge Naga Maruti Sarma’s place.
