HMR selects Eptisa Servicious as Safety Consultant

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR) has selected Spanish consultancy firm, Eptisa Servicios de Ingenieria, as the Safety Consultant for the Metro Rail Project through international competitive bidding, here today.

The Safety Consultant was selected by the HMR Tender Committee for Major Works headed by HMR Mangaing Director N V S Reddy, a press release here today said.

Eptisa Ingenieria will carry out safety audit of the designs, drawings, Design Basis Reports (DBRs) and other documents prepared by the Concessionaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRHL) and it’s various consultants.

Forest officials seize 21 birds from poacher

The forest officials today arrested a bird hunter and seized 21 birds from him at Kolleru Birds Sanctuary at Kolleru Lake in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. Forest officials, said on a tip off, they arrested J M Lava Raju and seized 21 live birds including five Common Teels , two Indian More Harns, Four Saintail Jackon, five Visiting Teals and five Cotton Teals. Couples disown girl, fight over baby boy

A newborn girl has been abandoned in Jodhpur’s Umaid Hospital since her birth seven days ago, and is waiting for a DNA test to identify her biological parents.

She was born on the same night when another boy was born in the hospital. While the two couples are fighting to claim the boy, saying the babies were switched by the hospital staff, the girl has been deprived of her right to mother’s attention, universally acknowledged as crucial for the healthy development of a child.

CM sanctions 25.5 cr for Bhadrachalam

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today approved Rs 25.5 crore for developmental programmes of Bhadrachalam. Talking to newsmen at Bhadhrachalam, after participating in ‘Sree Seetha Ramula Kalyanam,’ he said Rs 15 crore would be spent on providing drinking water, Rs two crore for construction of Midhila Stadium and Rs 7.5 crore for development of roads. Mr Reddy along with his wife presented ‘Muthyala Thalambralau’ (pearls), and ‘Pattu Vastrams’ to the deities on behalf of the state government. YS Jagan defends allocation of lands by his dad

YSR Congress President and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy against whom the CBI filed charge sheet in the disproportinate assets case, today defended his father and Former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy saying the latter allocated lands to establish industries for generating employment. Addressing a public meeting at Gorantla Village in the district, he justified allocation of lands for the establishment of industries by Mr Rajasekhara Reddy to generate huge employment opportunities in the backward districts, including Mehaboob Nagar and Medak.

Israel not given airbase access for Iran strike

Azerbaijan has angrily denied allegations by a US magazine that it has granted Israel access to its airbases to launch an attack on Iran or to return its fighter jets there after a strike.

“We have stated on numerous occasions and we reiterate that there will be no actions against Iran… from the territory of Azerbaijan,” Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov told journalists in Baku.

A senior official at Azerbaijan’s presidential administration added that such speculation was “aimed at damaging relations between Azerbaijan and Iran,” AFP reported.

Sonia was aghast at wealth amassed by Jagan: Sailajanath

Congress leader and Primary Education Minister Sailajanath has said that the party president Sonia Gandhi was astonished at the way the YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had amassed such a huge wealth within a short time.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, he said that every one, including the party president, was fearing him because of the wealth he had illegally earned. He said that whatever the punishment pronounced by the courts, the State government would religiously implement it.

BC association urges govt to release Rs 2200 crores

Andhra Pradesh State Backward Classes Welfare Association has demanded that the State government release Rs 2,200 crores within eight days for disbursal of scholarships.

In a press release, association president R. Krishnaiah criticized the Finance department for rejecting release fee-reimbursement and scholarships from the Treasuries. He also criticized the State government for only releasing Rs 400 crores, out of Rs 2200 crores.

Autism run organized on Necklace Road

On the occasion of World Autism Day, the Care 4 Autism Centre organized a walk on ‘Autism’ to create awareness among the people on the Necklace Road here on Sunday.

Patients, college students and NGOs participated in the run. Psychologists said that autism can be cured if it is detected at early stage. CM agrees to increase Govt share on bus passes to staff

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy approved the proposal to enhance the government share on Bus Passes to its employees working in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Warangal, due to recent revision of tariff by APSRTC. Approximately, 43,386 NGOs are benefited. The additional financial implication on the exchequer will be Rs 1.82 crore per annum.

CM to tour Tirupati, Nagari, Alipiri today

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Budget for 2012-13 had given some relief to tax payers by proposing to raise the income tax exemption limit for individuals to Rs 2 lakh per annum from Rs 1.80 lakh and readjusting the slabs that attract higher tax rates.

Zardari Wants To Offer Prayers At Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Plans are under way for Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to make a brief visit to India in the coming week.

Vivek appeals for unity among ‘T’ Cong leaders

SCR’s Special Drive to popularise ATVMs

The South Central Railway will organize a three day Special Drive from April 2 to 4 at all the Railway Stations in Hyderabad and Secunderabad to popularise the use of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) and to boost the sale of Smart Cards among rail commuters.

According to the SCR, since its introduction in February, 2010, the number of ATVMs in twin cities gradually increased from 31 to 67 and at present, ATVMs at all the 26 MMTS railway stations issue around 5525 Tickets per day on an average.

TRS demands rollback of power tariff hike

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced that his party would organise large scale protests against the increase in power tariff.

In a statement, the TRS president condemned the hike in power tariff and said that it would further burden the common man who was already hit by inflation and other taxes. Demanding immediate withdrawal of hike, he said that the new tariff would break the back bone of common man.
