Representation to Urdu knowing teachers in Urdu University: G. Mallesh

Floor leader of CPI in A.P. Assembly Mr. G. Mallesh demanded the Chief Minister to represent the matter to Central Govt. for issuing instructions to the authorities of Urdu University to appoint Urdu Knowing teaching staff. He also demanded to institute an enquiry to probe into the irregularities committed by the University in appointing non-Urdu knowing teachers. He demanded for the cancellation of all such recruitments.

Ghulam Nabi Azad to be relieved of AP Affairs

It is learnt that Congress High Command is contemplating to relieve Ghulam Nabi Azad of the responsibility of A.P. inchargeship as he has not been able to resolve the internal disputes of Congress party in the state. A.P. leadership is also not happy with his style of functioning. Ex-Constable Abdul Quadeer shifted to hospital from Jail

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Quadeer, a former police constable who is serving life sentence in Cherlapally jail was shifted to Gandhi Hospital on the advice of the jail doctors. He was imprisoned in 1990 and he has completed the term of life sentence in jail. He was undergoing treatment in jail hospital for the past one month. When his illness became severe he was advised to be admitted in Gandhi Hospital on 19th March.

Muslim applicants deprived of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme

It seems that uncertainty prevails in the implementation of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme Housing programme for the urban poor. Applications were received under this scheme with a promise that poor people living in urban areas would be given houses and an amount of Rs. 1,000 was also collected from each applicant by the staff of collectorate Hyderabad.

Certificate Distribution in Darul Uloom Mohammedia, Amberpet

Under the auspices of Abid Ali Khan Educational Trust and Idara-e-Adabiat-e-Urdu, for the past ten years, Urdu examinations are being conducted. A function was held to distribute certificates to the students studying in Darul-Uloom Mohammedia, Amberpet and learning Urdu Language. The function was presided over by Mr. Mohammed Fareeduddin, Mr. Mohammed Mustaqeem Nadvi attended the meeting as the Chief Guest. He applauded the efforts of Siasat and Minorities Development Forum for offering Urdu courses and vocational training. Certificates were distributed to the successful candidates.

Strong protest for refunding Minorities Budget

Various Minorities organizations recorded their protests on the action taken by the Dept. of Minorities Welfare for refunding the allocated budget amounts earmarked for various Welfare schemes concerning the development of Minorities. In a press conference held yesterday the leaders of All India Muslim Minorities organization told that at the Central Govt. level Rs. 587 crore are being returned to Govt. as unspent balance which testify to the inaction and incompetence of the officials to implement various schemes.

Obama Worried Over Safety Of Pakistan’s Nukes

US president Barack Obama on Tuesday voiced concern over safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, saying the world cannot allow nonstate actors and terrorists to get their hands on the nuclear weapons and end up destroying cities.

“We can’t afford to have non-state actors and terrorists to get their hands on nuclear weapons that would end up destroying our cities or harming our citizens ,” Obama told reporters alongside Pakistani prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani before the two leaders held private talks on the sidelines of the nuclear security summit here.

Team India leaves for South Africa

The Indian cricket team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni today left for South Africa to play one-off Twenty20 International against the host country at Johannesburg on March 30.

The one-match match, to be played at the Wanderers Stadium, is to commemorate 150 years of Indian settlement in South Africa and is to be an annual fixture.

Dhoni and company, including Robin Uthappa who replaced Sachin Tendulkar in the squad after the Asia Cup in Dhaka, attended the felicitation function of retired batsman Rahul Dravid at a hotel last evening before proceeding to South Africa.

PM Open To Visit Pak To Celebrate Something Solid

For the past four weeks, 33-year-old Shipra has been receiving thousands of phone calls and obscene text messages addressing her as Katrina.

The soft drinks ad campaign since February says “Katrina ka number label ke andar”.

Punjab bandh, hits normal life

A day-long bandh called by radical Sikh outfits to protest the proposed execution of Balwant Singh Rajoana, convicted in the Beant Singh killing case, disrupted normal life in parts of Punjab on Tuesday.

A report from Patiala said the call for bandh evoked a total response in the city where Rajoana is lodged in the local Central Jail awaiting his execution on March 31 as per the orders of the Chandigarh Sessions Court.

A gel that could stop beard from growing

Shaving could soon be a thing of the past, say scientists who claim to have developed a rub-on gel which could keep men stubble-free.

A team at the University of Pennsylvania says that early results from the experimental gel has showed it stops beards from growing.

The daily rub-on gel is made from a drug called cidofovir, which has been around for more than a decade and is widely used in high doses in the treatment of AIDS. Doctors, however, found that the drug caused alopecia – or lack of hair growth – the faces of men who had it injected.

Earthquake jolts Indo-Nepal border region

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale rocked parts of West Bengal in the early hours of Wednesday, the MeT Dept said.

The tremor, felt at 5.10 am, had its epicentre along the Bihar-Nepal border with 26.1 latitude and 87.8 longitude, according to the seismological centre of the Regional Meteorological Officer.

The duration of the quake was negligible, they said.

There was no report of injury to anybody or loss of property, police said.

Two more suicide attempts for the cause of Telangana

The suicide spree over delay in formation of separate Telangana state continued on Tuesday with two more attempting suicide by immolating themselves. Both of them are battling for their lives. An Intermediate student torched herself in her home in Pallenizamabad village in Konaraopet mandal in Karimnagar district on Tuesday night. Nishan Pallavi, 17, was rushed to Sircilla government hospital with 90%burns.

SBI hikes fixed deposit rates by up to 1%

Country’s largest lender SBI Tuesday raised fixed deposit rates on select maturities by up to 1 percent, amid tight liquidity situation.

Fixed deposits with maturity period of 7-90 days will earn eight percent interest against existing seven percent, State Bank of India (SBI) said in a statement.

The new rates would be effective from Wednesday.

Interest rates on 91-179 day and 181-240 day period fixed deposits have been raised by 0.75 percent and 1 percent, respectively. The rate of interest will be 8 percent now.

SBI lets existing home-loan customers to switch to lower rates

In a move that would help a large number of home loan customers to reduce their interest burden, nation’s largest lender State Bank of India has decided to allow them to reprice their existing loans at lower rates.

The switch over will be subject to a small fee–one percent of the outstanding loan amount– a top official said.

The move is expected to help all those borrowers whose home loans are linked to the prime lending rate which is as high as 14.75 percent at present.

Newborn girl’s body found in dustbin

The body of a newborn girl was found in a dustbin in Jaipur on Tuesday, bringing to fore the plight of the girl child in a state that suffers from a skewed sex ratio.

Police found the body wrapped in a piece of cloth in Shashtri Nagar area. “We got a call from a resident. Dogs were dragging it out from the bin. It seems the body was dumped at least three days ago,” informed a police official.
