Photo of Kaaba on Mobile phone – Footwear employee arrested

There was a panic in Chatta Bazar yesterday for a while when an employee of a footwear shop was circulating the photo of Kaaba on mobile phone. According to the details, G. Hari S/o G. Ramesh, resident of Kumarwadi, Jhira was showing his friends the photo of Kaaba on his mobile phone.

Some youths got irritated and beat him. Many people gathered there on receiving information. A team of policemen reached the spot and arrested him and shifted him to Mir Chowk police station.

Intermediate exams begin today in AP

In the entire state of A.P. Intermediate examinations will begin today. There are 2488 examination centers in the entire State. The total strength of the candidates taking intermediate examination is 19.58 lakh.

A US mom and her daughter celebrated their birthdays on Feb 29, beating the 2 million-to-1 odds of a mother and child sharing Leap Day birthdays.

It was Michelle Birnbaum’s, who is now 32, eighth birthday celebration and her daughter’s first.

Birnbaum, who lives in Saddle River, said that as delighted as she is to finally have a built-in party partner, she never planned to create two generations of Leap Year birthdays.

She went into labour on Feb 28, 2008, but Rose was not born for another 11 hours, on Feb 29.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained Shehla Masood murder accused Zahida Parvez’s friend Saba Farooqi in connection with the killing and is likely to arrest her soon. Saba Farooqi has reportedly confessed to helping Zahida in getting Shehla killed.

Sources have told that love triangle and jealousy could be the motive behind Shehla Masood’s murder. According to sources a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s proximity with both Shehla Masood and Zahida Pervez, the architect arrested in the murder case, could be the reason for the killing.

Dental nurse Kerry Trebilcock has eaten 4,000 washing-up sponges and more than 100 bars of soap due to a rare disorder. The 21-year-old loves nothing more than covering them in hot sauce,ketchup or mustard for added flavour and also dips them in tea or hot chocolate like biscuits.

Her disorder — known as pica — is so bad that she gets hungry while taking a shower, doing the washing-up or just walking down the cleaning aisle in supermarkets. The disorder causes victims to crave objects that are not food, mostly metal, coal, sand, chalk — or even lightbulbs and furniture.

The Mumbai Police on Friday conducted raids at the premises of former city Congress chief Kripashankar Singh, who has been accused of amassing disproportionate assets.

“The house and office of Kripashankar Singh in suburban Mumbai were raided. We are looking for some documents that will help us in the probe,” said a police officer.

Jaipur: Paraplegic woman arrested for ‘kidnap’ and ‘sexual abuse’

In a shocking and bizarre incident in Jaipur, the police have arrested a 21-year-old paraplegic woman over charges of abuse. The police claim the woman is involved in the kidnapping and sexual abuse of another woman.

What is shocking is that the 21-year old herself is allegedly a victim of sexual abuse by three Rajasthan policemen.

Her parents alleged that she was being falsely implicated in another case so that the three arrested policemen could walk free.

Emirati woman dies after she underwent surgery for obesity

The woman, 39, died after she underwent an operation to remove excess skin and fat, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Thursday.

MH, the mother of six children, had chronic obesity problem and decided to go ahead with operation despite knowing the danger it involves.

According to the court record, the woman underwent a five-hour operation on June 8 2010 and complained severe chest pain and breathing problem after the operation.

She was rushed into the intensive care unit (ICU) but died the next day despite several attempts to resuscitate her, the record showed.

Obama Defends Qur`an Apology

US President Barack Obama has defended his apology for the burning of the Noble Qur’an at a US airbase in Afghanistan, as the United Nations called for the punishment of those behind the desecration of the Muslim holy book.

“It calmed things down,” Obama told ABC News in an interview on Wednesday, February 29.

“We’re not out of the woods yet,” he added, referring to Afghanistan.

Anti-narcotic cops held with 1,500 kg of charas

Two constables attached to the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police have been arrested by officers from the same department for selling drugs seized in various cases yesterday. Cops recovered 1,500 kilograms of charas from the duo.

The constables, identified as Ashok Baburao Suryavanshi (50), and Shivaji Balkrishna Kshirsagar (37), both residents of Thane have been booked on the charges of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have been remanded to police custody till March 7.

Reprimand led to suicide

(Siasat News): A man who had turned his house into a tavern, committed suicide when he was reprimanded by his uncle.

This incident occurred in Alwal police station limits where 22-year-old Balakrishna hanged himself. The deceased used to booze in his house along with his friends and for this his uncle had warned him several times earlier but Balakrishna did not mend his ways.

Last night, when he was routinely boozing with his friends, his uncle suddenly reached home and reprimanded him.

Hyderabad awarded ‘Best Heritage City’

The city of Charminar bagged the Union tourism ministry’s first ever “Best Heritage City” award in New Delhi on Wednesday, drawing mixed reactions from historians and heritage activists in the city.

The National Tourism Awards for 2010-2011 were given by the ministry of tourism in several categories. Besides the award for Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh also bagged the Best Rural Tourism Spot for Srikalahasthi and Best Airport for the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Man booked for raping 4-yr-old

An 18-year-old man was booked for the rape of a four-year-old girl at Maruti Gaikwad Chawl in Akurdi yesterday evening.

The suspect was identified as Pavitra Prakash Gaikwad. Gaikwad was arrested by the Nigadi police for sodomy under Section 377 of the IPC. The incident came to light after the girl’s mother heard her cries.

All the residents of Gaikwad Chawl went to the terrace to check what was happening and they caught the man in the act.

According to eyewitnesses, chawl residents thrashed the man before handing him over to the police. The incident took place at 4 pm.

19-year-old arrested for molesting teen

A 14-year-old street dweller was allegedly molested by a 19-year-old man near PMPML’s Bibvewadi depot. The incident took place on Wednesday evening as the victim was coming out of a public toilet. The suspect, Santosh Bansode, allegedly pulled the girl inside a bus and molested her. After the victim’s eight-year-old brother came to know about the incident, he informed his parents about it. The mother then rescued the girl and handed over Bansode to the police. A case in this regard was registered at the Sahakarnagar police station.

Only 5% Saudis in construction jobs

About 95 percent of the four million jobs in the construction sector go to foreigners, with just five percent of the jobs being filled by Saudis. This was revealed by the Chairman of the Engineering Offices at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Architecture Section at the Saudi Engineers Association, Talal Samargandi.
