McIlroy excites game as he completes rise to top

Rory McIlroy was proclaimed as golf`s next truly great player after winning the Honda Classic on Sunday and taking over as the world`s number one ranked player.

Many had expected McIlroy to reach the top and the Northern Irishman fulfilled those prophesies when he officially became the world number one, at just 22 years old.

“He`s the real deal,” said Johnny Miller, a 25-time winner on the PGA Tour and now a respected television commentator.

“He is just going to get better, he could have a run now where he could separate from numbers two and three.”

China readies next generation rockets

China is planning to launch is next generation Long March-5 carrier rocket in 2014.

Chinese experts have succeeded in developing the hydrogen box that will store fuel for the Long March-5 rocket. It will more than triple its carrying capacity.

China is also developing a Long March-7 rocket for launch in the next five years, said Liang Xiaohong, deputy head of China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology.

China has sought to develop non-toxic, low-cost, reliable and safe carrier rockets to build a space station, the Shanghai Daily reported Sunday.

Man missing from Shamshabad

(Siasat News): A man residing in the slum area of Oomda Nagar has been missing since February 25. His daughter has lodged a complaint in RGI police station.

According to the police, P Allaswamy, 40, had left his house on February 25 but did not return. His family members searched him everywhere but he could not be traced.

Ultimately, his daughter lodged a complaint. Inspector Kiran Kumar has registered the complaint and started the investigation.

Senator Schumer asks FTC to probe Apple, Android

A US senator has urged the Federal Trade Commission to investigate reports that applications on the Apple Inc and Google Inc mobile systems steal private photos and contacts and post them online without consent.

Democrat Charles Schumer’s request comes after iPhone maker Apple tweaked its privacy policies last month after prodding from other lawmakers.

The distribution of third-party applications on iPhones and phones running on Google’s Android system has helped create a surge in the popularity of those devices in recent years.

Drink coffee daily to lower heart diseases

A new study has found that people who regularly drink coffee don’t have an increased risk of diseases like heart disease and cancer, and they also have a lower risk of Type 2 diabetes compared to sporadic drinkers or non-drinkers, Huffington Post reported.

“Our results suggest that coffee consumption is not harmful for healthy adults in respect of risk of major chronic disease,” said study researcher Anna Floegel, an epidemiologist at the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke.

Nato air strikes in Libya killed 60 civilians: report

A UN commission investigating war crimes and human rights violations in Libya reported on Friday that Nato airstrikes in the country last year killed 60 civilians and wounded 55 others.

“Amongst the 20 Nato airstrikes investigated, the commission documented five airstrikes where a total of 60 civilians were killed and 55 injured,” read the unedited version of the report obtained by AFP.

The commission also probed two Nato airstrikes which damaged civilian infrastructure and where no military target could be identified, it said.

The family of Aliya was happy for the imminent wedding of their 28-year-old daughter, but their happiness turned into a shock over hearing the news that their beloved has committed suicide.

`Six of 10 patients with HIV are women`

Two studies from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS showed that 60 percent of people with this disease in the Dominican Republic are women, infection linked to gender violence.

Diabetes can make women deaf

A new study has found that having diabetes may cause women to experience a greater degree of hearing loss as they age, especially if the metabolic disorder is not well controlled with medication.

According to the study from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, women between the ages of 60 and 75 with well-controlled diabetes had better hearing than women with poorly controlled diabetes, with similar hearing levels to those of non-diabetic women of the same age.

The study also shows significantly worse hearing in all women younger than 60 with diabetes, even if it is well controlled.

Four Maoists killed in Jharkhand

Four Maoists were killed in a gunbattle with security forces that broke out early Monday after about 300 guerrillas attacked a Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) project in Jharkhand and set on fire 19 vehicles.

A security personnel was also injured when the armed Maoists attacked CCL’s Ashok project close to the Iparwar police station, about 160 km from here, and set on fire 19 vehicles, police said. They also attacked a police camp nearby.

Police have recovered the bodies of two of the Maoists.
