Congress didn’t promise T-state: Venkat Reddy

Senior Congress leader Mr. G. Venkat Reddy told that in its election manifesto Congress didn’t promise T-state. Seema Andhra leaders are against formation of T-state. He said that by organizing Dharna and stalling the Assembly session T-state can’t be formed.

Talking to newsmen in the Assembly premises, he said that separation is not the solution, because it hampers progress. By dilly dallying policy, A.P. is lagging behind in progress. Congress High Command should take a decision in this regard. Congress leaders have already apprised the central leadership of their views.

Despite agitation, Central Govt. is silent spectator

Congress members of Parliament stalled the session for the third day also raising Telangana issue. They termed the remarks of CM of A.P. about students’ suicides as objectionable.

Talking to media persons Mr. Jaganatham Congress MP said that one the one hand MPs are agitating but on the other hand Dr. Manmohan Singh and Pranab Mukherjee are not bothered to react on this issue.

Half of US households own Apple products: Survey

Half of all US households own at least one Apple product, a survey has showed.

According to CNBC’s All-America Economic survey released on Wednesday, the Apple-buying household on average has a total of three Apple products.

Overall, the average household has 1.6 Apple devices with almost one quarter planning to buy at least one more in the next year, Xinhua reported.

The survey, collecting answers from 836 Americans, found that Apple buyers tend to be male, college-educated and younger.

UN raises Syria death toll estimate to more than 9,000

The United Nations said on Tuesday that more than 9,000 civilians have been killed in the Syrian government’s yearlong assault on protesters opposed to President Bashar Assad, an increase of nearly 1,000 over its previous estimate.

“Violence on the ground has continued unabated, resulting in scores of people killed and injured,” Robert Serry, the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, told the 15-nation Security Council.

Gaza baby dies after respirator runs out of fuel

A Gaza man said Sunday his 5-month-old baby died after the generator powering his respirator ran out of fuel, the first known death linked to the territory’s energy crisis.

The baby, who was born with lymphatic disorder, had only a few months to live, said his father, Abdul-Rahim Helou, 27. But his parents miscalculated how much fuel a new generator needed to remove fluids that accumulated in his respiratory system, he said.

“If we were living in a normal country with electricity, I think his chances of living (longer) would have been better,” Helou said.

Breast cancer awareness drive starts Saturday

Princess Hessa Al-Shaalan, wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, will launch on Saturday the national campaign for early screening of breast cancer at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh.

Zian Maimish, assistant deputy health minister for preventive medicine, said the campaign will examine around 10,000 women aged between 40-65 in Riyadh region in the next 12 months. He thanked the princess for her humane gesture and constant support for social and health care causes.

Colon cancer campaign kicks off at Red Sea Mall

The Jeddah Health Affairs Department launched an awareness campaign about colon cancer and its dangers on Tuesday evening at Red Sea Mall in Jeddah.

Visits by navy ships to boost Saudi-India maritime ties

Three Indian Navy ships, in Jeddah port for the past three days, aim to further boost cooperation between the two navies of India and the Kingdom, said the commanding officer of the ships.

“The primary aim of the visit of these ships is to enhance friendly relations between the two navies,” Capt. Ajay Sirohi said while addressing a press conference with Indian Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao aboard INS Tir on Tuesday.

The commanding officer and captain of the ships also interacted with their counterparts in the Western Naval Fleet of the Royal Saudi Navy.

Petrol could cost Rs 15 less if VAT is reduced

If state government follows Goa’s example of doing away with sales tax on petrol, the fuel will become cheaper by roughly Rs 15 a litre in the four metros. The reduction will be higher in states that tax the fuel at a higher rate.

Goa CM Manohar Parrikar on Monday proposed an 11% reduction in VAT (value added tax) on petrol in the state’s budget. The fuel costs Rs 65.61 a litre in Panjim. After the reduction takes effect on April 2, the price will come down to about Rs 55 a litre.

Talaq on phone by ‘Drunken Man’ valid: Darul

THE Darul Uloom, Deoband, has delivered yet another Fatwa on Talaq.

While replying to a recent query, Darul Ifta — the online fatwa department of the renowned Islamic seminary in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district — ruled in favour of a talaq ( divorce) given by an inebriated man on a mobile phone.

It declared that the woman cannot continue living with her husband even if he admitted later that he was drunk and had inadvertently uttered “ talaq” thrice on the cell phone.

National convention for protection of the Muslim youths.

(Siasat News) All India Milli Council is organising a national level convention for the protection of the Muslim youths for implicating them in fake cases and resorting to violence.

The convention will be held at Maolankar Hall, constitution club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi at 10.a.m. on Saturday 31st March 2012. Hi-tech gang of ATM robbers busted

The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday busted an inter-state gang of robbers who used to swindle money by swiping ATM cards of unsuspecting people.

According to the home department, the gang was busted after a series of thefts through ATMs was reported in the state capital.

The STF had begun to keep a tab on the suspected criminals, putting their phones under electronic surveillance, and on Wednesday swooped on the gang at Mahanagar.

Model schools teachers recruitment High Court cancels notification.

(Siasat News) A.P. High Court ordered the Govt. of A.P. to accept the applications of all the eligible candidates for the posts of teachers in the Govt. model schools irrespective of their medium of instruction.

Mr. Justice V. Eswaraiah and Mr. Justice K.G. Shanker struck down the notification of the Govt. issued earlier.

The Division bench also instructed the Registry to shift this case to another single bench and present the case before the chief justice of A.P. High Court.

An appeal was submitted challenging the stay order of the single judge.

Explosion outside Indian consulate in Afghanistan

A huge explosion has been heard outside the Indian consulate in Afghanistan’s eastern city of Jalalabad.

Casualties are feared. However, reports say that staff at the consulate are safe.

The Afghan Taliban have reportedly claimed responsibility for the blast.

The blast took place in a market which is at least a kilometre away from the consulate.

The facility on Voice of Jihad, the official website of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan — the Taliban’s own name for their movement — allows readers to submit queries to spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

It is a demonstration of how far the insurgents’ attitude towards technology has changed.

Indian Traders Sleeping On Streets of Shanghai

Two Indian traders who are awaiting judgment from a Chinese court over a bitter dispute with businessmen in the southern trading hub of Yiwu were forced to spend Tuesday night sleeping on the streets of Shanghai because they have run out of money, The Hindu reported.
