I don’t work with sleazy directors: Mahie Gill

Actress Mahie Gill has often chosen bold roles in her previous films and was never worried to shed her inhibitions. But the Bollywood star, who is busy promoting her film Paan Singh Tomar, has hundred percent confidence about her directors and she says that she does not work with some sleazy directors, but intelligent ones.

Talking about her nude act, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster star says that she does not think that the issue is about revealing, but it is about doing particular characters. Mahie Gill adds that her role requires a bold act she would do it without hesitation.

Saif Ali Khan supports Deepika Padukone

Witnessing the support that actress Deepika Padukone has been receiving these days after her Race 2 dumping act, it looks like the actress is back to producer Ramesh Taurani’s pavilion. After Deepika dumped Race 2, she not only enraged the producer, but her Race 2 co-stars too were possibly miffed with her.

2 Swinfe Flu Cases Identified in City

The doctors at the Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet in the city have identified two Swine flu cases on Tuesday.

Yadagiri of Hayatnagar and Syed Unnisa of Jaggannaram were admitted for treatment on February 26 in the hospital. As the patients showed swine flu symptoms, the doctors have sent their blood samples to the IPM, Narayanaguda for testing. The doctors at IPM have confirmed that the the patients were suffering with Swine flu.

However, the doctors said that the two patients were being provided treatment and they were out of danger. (NSS)

Mukesh Goud plans to contest from Secunderabad LS seat

Marketing Minister Mukesh Goud on Tuesday hinted that he would contest from Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency in the next elections.

Talking to media persons, Mukesh Goud said that he was desired to contest for Secunderabad parliament seat as the present MP Anjan Kumar Yadav would be completing 10 years on the lines of former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bhandaru Dattatreya from the seat.

CPM refuses to support TDP in by-elections

Communist party of India (M) state secretary B V Raghavulu on Tuesday made it clear to Telugu Desam Party that his party would not extend support its candidates in the by-elections.

Talking to media persons after having a meeting with TDP seniors T Devender Goud and Varla Ramaiah, the left leader stoutly rejected Naidu’s appeal seeking left parties’ support for the by-elections. He said that the party would contest in four constituencies out of seven and announce its support for left party candidates in the remaining segments.

Bus accident: CM assures help for victims’ families

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed East Godavari district Collector to rush rush immediately to G Peddapudi village of P Gannavaram mandal where a school bus was drowned and asked him to personally supervise the rescue and relief operations and provide adequate medical assistance to the victims.

The Chief Minister also wanted the Collector and other officials to provide all assistance needed for the injured children. He also asked the officials to constantly monitor the situation and keep him informed of the measures taken from time to time.

Over 11 lakh cases pending in AP courts

Over 11 lakh cases are pending in different courts, including the Andhra Pradesh High Court, in the State.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Gade Venkata Reddy during Question Hour, Law and Courts Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy informed the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that as many as 1,98,214 cases were pending in the State High Court as on December 31, 2011. Similarly, the total pendency of cases in the subordinate courts is 9,45,737.

Soha-Kunal is not waiting for Saifeena to marry

Soha Ali Khan denied reports stating that she and boyfriend Kunal Khemu will marry only after her brother Saif Ali Khan ties the knot with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor.

Apple to showcase its new iPad and more on March 7th

Apple on Tuesday sent out official invitations for a media event to be held next Wednesday, March 7, in San Francisco where it is expected to introduce its next-generation iPad.

The March 7 event will be held at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif., the same place the last two iPad unveilings have been held. The invitation features a finger pushing down on an iOS calendar icon with March 7 as the date.

Chinese woman shot dead in Pakistan

A Chinese woman and a male Pakistani friend were Tuesday shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen in Peshawar city, police said.

Tahir Ayub, senior superintendent of police, said a passport found in the pocket of the slain woman showed she was a Chinese national.

The man killed in the incident in Jahangir Pura area is believed to be a local resident, Xinhua reported.

An earlier report said both people were foreigners.

The incident took place around 5 p.m. when two gunmen on a motorbike opened fire at the two people in a car at a market place in Peshawar.

Shehla Masood case: Woman interior designer, contract killer held

In a major breakthrough in the Shehla Masood murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a woman interior designer for alleged involvement in the murder of the activist in Bhopal last August, said an agency official Tuesday.

Along with the woman, identified as Zahida Pervez, another person, whom Pervez had allegedly hired to kill Masood, was arrested Tuesday from Bhopal.

“Pervez is at present in CBI custody and it is believed that she had some personal rivalry with the RTI activist,” said the official.

Fullest consideration’ to Muhammad Yunus for World Bank chief’s post: US

The US will give “fullest consideration” to the candidature of Nobel Laureate economist Muhammad Yunus for the World Bank presidency if he wants to head the multilateral agency, American Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena said here today.

“If he agrees (to be a candidate for the World Bank presidency), he will be given fullest consideration,” US Ambassador Dan Mozena told newsmen on the sidelines of a function in northwestern Rajshahi.

The envoy, however, did not elaborate further.

UP polls: 60 percent turnout in MJ(Muslim-Jat) belt

The high stakes battle for power in Uttar Pradesh entered the last lap Tuesday with 60 percent peaceful voting in the sixth and penultimate round of the assembly elections that end next week.

The turnout among the 2.11 crore voters was in keeping with the high percentage in the last five rounds. Polling in 68 constituencies across 13 districts in western Uttar Pradesh had begun at 7 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m.

“Today appears to be more like the first phase when polling crossed the 60 per cent mark”, state chief electoral officer Umesh Sinha told IANS in Lucknow at the close of balloting.

Sonia goes abroad for ‘routine check-up’, to US

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has gone abroad for a “routine check-up”, nearly six months after surgery in the US, and is expected to return in four-five days, a senior party leader said here Tuesday.

“Congress president Sonia Gandhi has travelled abroad for a routine check-up after six months of earlier treatment. She will return in four-five days,” party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi Dwivedi said here.

Party sources said that Sonia Gandhi left for the check-up Monday night.

Girl shot dead by father for ‘honour’

A 16-year-old girl in Haryana was killed and then hastily cremated Monday night by her father, police said and added they suspect it to be a case of “honour killing”.

The Class 10 student (name withheld) was shot dead from point blank range by her father, Ratan Pal, a retired Border Security Force (BSF) trooper, in Rewari Khera village of Bhiwani district.

Police said that the trooper was under the influence of liquor at the time of the shooting. He is missing and on the run since Monday night.

Suspended IPS officer’s judicial custody extended

A court here Tuesday extended by a day the judicial custody of suspended Indian Police Service (IPS) officer A.K. Jain, arrested for his alleged role in the killing of criminal Dara Singh in an allegedly staged shoot-out.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought the police remand of Jain, who had surrendered in court Monday. This was objected to by Jain’s lawyers.

“The court has reserved the decision for the police remand for Wednesday. His judicial custody was extended till Wednesday,” said CBI counsel Sarfaraz Haider Khan.

12 killed in China riots

A violent mob Tuesday chopped to death at least 10 people in China’s Muslim-majority Xinjiang Uygur region, following which police chased the mob and shot dead at least two rioters.

The clash took place in Yecheng county of Kashgar prefecture, Xinhua reported.

Witnesses said the mob attacked the victims on Xingfu Street around 6 p.m.

The report, however, gave no details as to what might have triggered the violence.

Will Demolition Erase Bin Laden Ideology?

Analysts have cast doubts on the effectiveness of Pakistan’s demolition of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s compound in erasing his militant ideology.

“Ideologies cannot be erased or developed on the basis of buildings or places,” Shamim-ur-Rehman, a Karachi-based partially, told on Tuesday, February 28.

“They depend upon beliefs and circumstances.

“Until unless, the circumstances are there, an ideology does not need the sinews of any building or place to flourish.”

MDMK chief Vaiko on Tuesday termed as shocking a Sri Lankan official’s claim about New Delhi’s backing of Colombo in the ongoing UNHRC session and urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not to support it.

“It is shocking that Mahinda Samarasinghe, the chief Lankan negotiator, has stated that India will support Sri Lanka in the crucial voting at the ongoing session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at Geneva,” Vaiko said in a letter to Singh.

Bhanwari Devi case: Arrested Congress legislator faces new charge

Yet another case was slapped Tuesday against Congress legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi for obtaining a mobile SIM card on fake documents and using it to allegedly threaten CBI officers after his brother Parasram was arrested in the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, police said.

The legislator from Luni has already been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the disappearance and murder of the nurse, missing since Sep 1, 2011.
