“This book has everything and I think what she has written is true. My journey has been very different because I am not so ambitious. But yes, I have been offered, I have gone through a lot of experiences, directly and indirectly,” the 31-year-old told reporters at the launch of the book.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has rubbished reports that his film “Heroine” is inspired by actress Manisha Koirala’s life.

“#Heroine’s not inspired by Manish Koirala’s life. It’s a figment of imagination. People should check facts before creating such stories,” Bhandarkar wrote on his Twitter page.

It was reported that the film, starring Kareena Kapoor in the lead, was inspired by the ups and downs in Manisha’s personal and professional life.

Script plays villain between Anil, Priyadarshan

Gul Panag unveils Sachin Garg novel, says it’s for all

Bollywood celebrity and activist Gul Panag Tuesday unveiled young novelist Sachin Garg’s latest book “Never Let Me Go” at the ongoing World Book Fair (WBF) and said it will strike a chord with readers of all age groups.

Loosely based on Garg’s own life, the book reflects the ups and downs faced by a young engineering student and how he runs away to Goa and tries to start a new life.

Speaking on the occasion, Panag said: The book truly captures the feel of Goa and the challenging times that Sachin spent there. I’m sure the book will strike a chord with people of all age groups.

2 trains on same track, major accident averted in UP

A major train accident was averted when two goods train came on the same track at Tundla railway station in Firozabad district under North Central Railways today. According to railway sources, a goods train was stationed at platform number nine while the second goods train was given signal to arrive at the same platform. The driver of the second goods train saw other train and stopped the train in time thus saving a major mishap. The probe had been launched into the incident, sources added. UNI

Andhra Pradesh State Minister for Tourism Vatti Vasanta Kumar today informed the state assembly the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has identified seven reservoirs and three irrigation sites for development of tourism corridors in the state.

Two students killed, 10 missing as bus falls into canal

At least two students killed and 10 others went missing after a school bus fell into a canal in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district Tuesday, police said.

The rescue workers recovered two bodies while search was on for others even after darkness. The local people saved 20 children.

The bus carrying the students of a private school fell into the irrigation canal at G. Peddapudi in P. Gannavarm mandal near the port city of Kakinada in East Godavari district, about 500 km from Hyderabad.

1984 Riots victims still wait for compensation

Delhi High Court today directed the Centre and the city government to examine the plea of a group of 1984 Anti-Sikh riot victims, who had left the city then and are seeking their due grant of rehabilitation package on basis of their residence here. Justice Vipin Sanghi directed the Delhi Government to verify the residential address of seven people of different sikh families who had left for Punjab after the riots and have returned here now and give them Rs 2 lakh each as compensation.

Abhay Deol Shows Concern For Homosexuals

Expressing support for homosexuals, Bollywood actor Abhay Deol today said the Government should not make sexuality an issue and instead focus on “real” matters like poverty and rising crime.

Deol’s remark came in the wake of Supreme Court taking up the issue of decriminalization of gay sex. During the hearing on the issue last week, the Government disapproved decriminalisation of gay sex, terming it as “highly immoral”.

However, today the Centre changed its stand and told the SC that it favored decriminalization of gay sex.

Vijay Raghav’s bail plea hearing adjourned to Wednesday

The CBI special court on Tuesday posted the hearing on bail petition of GV Vijaya Raghav, finance head for Emaar MGF Limited, to Wednesday.

The court has also directed the Chanchalguda Jail authorities to produce Vijaya Raghav in the court on Wednesday. It may be mentioned that the court has already directed the probing agency to file counter petition in this case by Wednesday.

ACB court to hear Nunna’s bail petition on March 1

The Anti Corruption Bureau court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on bail petition of Nunna Venkata Ramana, the alleged kingpin of liquor syndicate, to March 1.

Earlier, Venkata Ramana had created a political storm by alleging the he paid bribes to Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao and several other politicians to seek their support for the liquor syndicate.

BJP, CPM slams government for paddy ban

Allow inter-state export of paddy, demands JP

Lok Satta president Dr Jayaprakash Nayayan on Tuesday found fault with the State Government for imposing restrictions on export of paddy in the State.

Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, he said that due to the GO issued by the State Government, the farmers were forced to sell their paddy in the State at lower prices while suffering huge losses. “Despite the Centre clarifying that farmers could export and sell their products anywhere in the country, the farmers were put to hardship due to State Government’s restrictions,” he said.

No irregularities in issuing of auto permits: Botsa

Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday denied the reports of irregularities in issuing of new auto permits in the Hyderabad.

While replying to a question raised by TDP MLA M Kishan Reddy and others during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly, Botsa said that the State Government has issued new auto permits to unemployed persons in the limits of Greater Hyderabad. He said that the permits were issued as per the guidelines issued by the Transport Roads and Buildings (TR-I) Department through GO Ms No 33 dated November 24, 2011.

TP-JAC opposes Regional Council for Telangana

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Tuesday stated that the JAC would oppose the Centre’s proposed move to establish Regional Councils with functional autonomy.

Talking to media persons, Kodandaram said that the establishment of regional councils with liberal financial package would not serve the purpose and justice could be done to the Telangana only through the formation of separate State. He called upon the district and mandal JACs to oppose the establishment of regional councils and create awareness among people on the issue.

Former Congress minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Tuesday hailed the Centre’s proposed move to establish Regional Councils with complete financial autonomy.
