Dead woman married twice

Investigators in China’s Hebei province are shocked after coming across a bizarre incident in which a woman’s corpse was married twice.

During this year’s Spring Festival, a family surnamed Wu sold their daughter’s dead body for 35,000 yuan ($5,557) to a man surnamed Liu who wanted to perform a “yin marriage” a marriage between two dead bodies between the Wu’s daughter and Liu’s younger brother, the Global Times reported.

After the ‘wedding’, the two deceased lovebirds were buried in a single tomb.

Man roasts and eats kids he can’t sell

A man had a horrific tale to narrate when he was caught by villagers with a kidnapped child, 12, in the Indian town of Meerut.

He told the authorities that he would kidnap children from their homes and sell them off to passengers on trains. The ones he could not trade, he would roast them and eat their flesh, reports news agency.

Recently, villagers in the Meerut district had complained that a few children were missing and they could not be traced.

Authorities are investigating if the man’s claims are true.

BJP to contest four seats?

The Bharatiya Janata Party appears to be preparing to contest in four Assembly seats of the seven 7 for which by-elections are scheduled to be held on March 18.

According to sources, the party is likely to contest in Station Ghanapur, Mahbubnagar and Kamareddy constituencies in Telangana, apart from Kovvuru in Nellore, native district of the BJP stalwart M. Venkaiah Naidu.

It is also learnt that some key leaders and former MLAs of TRS are likely to join the BJP as they are vexed with the dictatorial functioning of the party president K Chandrasekhara Rao.

2 injured after gas cyclinder catches fire

Two people, including an NRI, sustained serious burn injuries after a cooking gas cylinder exploded in Subhash Nagar today. Both injured NRI Harmesh Lal(60) and Kamaljit(23) were admitted to local Gandhi Hospital in critical condition. Treating Doctor Satnam Singh Parmar said the condition of both injured was stable, but serious. The injured came here to attend a social function and were sleeping in a room in the house of their relative Mahant, when one of them noticed some bad smell from the kitchen.

Mamata to meet PM; NCTC on agenda?

Pitching for early solution of the Farakka barrage issue, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Wednesday.

Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress has 19 members in the Lok Sabha, would also take up implementation of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the meeting with Singh.

Kiran not keen on Assembly run: Naidu

TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu today said that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy appeared to be not serious about conducting the Assembly properly.

Speaking to media persons on the Assembly premises, the TDP president said that if the corruption of the Kiran Kumar Reddy government was exposed in the Assembly, more than half of the ruling party members would be in jails. He said that there was an urgent need to discuss the burning issues like plight of drought-hit farmers, tuition fee crisis of students, ministers accepting bribes from liquor syndicates and so on.

TDP Telangana Forum convener Yerrabelli Dayakara Rao has said that his party would not have TRS MLA Harish Rao even as an attender.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Yerrabelli said that TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, his son K T Ramarao and nephew Harish Rao should stop enacting “dramas” at least now.

It may be recalled that Harish Rao had declared that he was ready to work as an attender in the TDP office if that party chief N Chandrababu Naidu gave a letter to the Union government proclaiming support to formation of separate Telangana State.

If the word on the street is to be believed, actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s newborn is likely to be named Abhilasha. A tweet from author Shobhaa De sparked off speculation on the name of the baby girl.

De tweeted: “Beti B to be named Abhilasha? That’s a stroke of genius. Well done,parents. Abhi and Ash. Truly inspired, if true.” The news has not been confirmed yet by any one from the Bachchan clan. But it did not stop people on Twitter from sharing the news, most retweeting De’s cryptic tweet which does not specifically confirm the news.

President Son questioned for 1 crore cash seized

The Amravati police on Tuesday questioned Congress MLA and son of President Pratibha Patil, Rajendra Shekhawat, in connection with the Rs 1 crore seized from a vehicle coming from Congress MLA and Minister Rajendra Mulak’s house in Nagpur.

According to Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Shekhawat accepted the fact that the money belonged to Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and was meant for election expenses of Congress candidates in Amravati’s recent municipal corporation polls.

Noose around mopidevi’s neck tightens

Noose around the neck of Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao is tightening with Nunna Ramana, who is in ACB custody, asserting that the minister had accepted Rs 10 lakh bribe from the liquor syndicate.

Ramana, who was being questioned by the ACB investigators for the past two days, told the interrogators that they had paid Rs 10 lakhs as bribe to the Excise Minister for bringing about a settlement between two syndicates in Khammam district.

It may be mentioned here that Nunna Ramana was taken into custody by the ACB officials in connection with the liquor syndicates scam.
