Saudis ashamed to work as waiters?

A local restaurant here has been doing its bit to solve the country’s unemployment problem by hiring 13 young Saudi males to work as waiters, trainee chefs and accountants, Al-Watan newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The initiative of the Bayt Al-Shawaya Restaurant in Tabuk was welcomed by the director of the local labor office and customers at the restaurant.

Mansour Al-Shareef, director of the Tabuk labor office, said that the Saudization percentage was high in services, entertainment, restaurants, hotels and furnished apartments.

A federal advisory panel wants all U.S. adults to get vaccinated against whooping cough.

The panel voted Wednesday to expand its recommendation to include all those 65 and older who haven`t gotten a whooping cough shot as an adult.

Children have been vaccinated against whooping cough since the 1940s, but a vaccine for adolescents and adults was not licensed until 2005.

Israel claims Iran able to target US by 2015

Israel’s Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz claims Iran will be able to target the US by intercontinental missiles, which it aims to build by 2015.

“They are working now and investing a lot of billions of dollars in order to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles,” he told CNBC.

“And we estimate that in two to three years they will have the first intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach the east coast of America,” Steinitz said.

Stolen jewellery worth Dh1 million hidden in Dubai graveyard

A 24-year-old from Kosovo, RN, robbed jewellery worth Dh1m from a shop in Dubai and hid it from prying eyes in a graveyard before fleeing the country. He was arrested by Dubai Police upon his return to collect the loot.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance charged him with the crime along with two compatriots who have fled the country. “I did it, the others had nothing to do with it,” he told the court.

The other accomplices identified as OH, 42, MH, 26 and a German director, IT, 42 are accused of possessing stolen items.

The BCCI on Wednesday sought to scotch the intense speculation about a rift in the Indian cricket team in Australia with its President N Srinivasan calling such media reports as “exaggerated”.

Boy survives being born with heart outside body

London, February 23: A boy in US, who was born with his heart outside his body, is world’s first child to survive under such circumstances.

It is an incredibly rare condition and usually babies born that way are stillborn or die within three days.

Ryan Marquiss’ heart also hadn’t developed and so he only had half a heart – a combination of defects, which is so rare that he is the only one of his kind in the world.

Doctors advised his devastated parents to terminate the pregnancy when his mother was just 12 weeks pregnant, but they bravely refused.

Bride dupes six bridegrooms

A con woman in the Indian state of Rajasthan married not once or twice but six times, only to run away each time with the jewels and other valuables which the trusting families gifted her with.

She also had two male accomplices to help her carry out the act of a blushing bride each time, reports IANS.

Police officials finally managed to catch-up with the runaway bride and her two assistants when one of the bridegroom’s father filed a complaint with the authorities. Further investigation showed that the runaway bride was running a racket in that particular area in the state.

Uma Bharti Sits On Dharna Outside Police Station

BJP leader Uma Bharti on Wednesday evening sat on dharna outside the police station in Charkhari, from where she is contesting, after police detained three of her supporters on charge of distributing cash among voters.
