Hyderabad, January 31: Qutub Shahi Mosque of Balapur which was demolished earlier was surveyed again jointly by the officials of Revenue and Wakf Board. Two weeks back it was demolished by land developers for converting it into plots.

Muslims had protested against its demolition. Siasat had published a pictorial news report a few days back about this mosque. The surprising thing is that even after 13 days of its demolition, the officials of Wakf Board have not been able to assess the area of land registered under wakf act.

New Delhi, January 31 : The Gandhi family will hit the campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh from February 1 with Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressing rallies at Deoria and Gonda.

Rahul Gandhi will share the dais with Ajit Singh in Meerut on February 2, the first joint rally of Congress and RLD.

Party sources said Priyanka Gandhi is also likely to also begin the party’s election campaign in the family pocket boroughs of Rabebareli and Amethi the same day.

There has been a speculation about Priyanka’s election campaign going beyond the confines of the two constituencies.

“I think we’re going to see a totally different India.There’s no doubt in my mind. They’re definitely hurting.

Abu Dhabi, January 31: Pakistan spinners Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman were listed among the top 10 test bowlers in rankings published by the International Cricket Council on Sunday.

The duo played a key role in their team’s remarkable 72-run win against England in the second test on Saturday.

According to the ICC, two Pakistan spinners have not made the top 10 in 23 years.

Tehran, January 31: Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says Tehran will not remain indifferent to US mischief in the region if Washington tries to cause problems for regional countries.

In a meeting with Indonesian Parliament Speaker Marzouqi Ali on Monday, Larijani said the US seeks to make mischief in the region as it is unhappy with regional developments and does not see revolutions in Muslim countries to its benefit.

The 34-year-old police constable accused his boss of persecuting him for no reason,

The incident occurred on January 25 morning, when Ganesh Bharat Kamble met Senior Inspector Vijay Dhopavkar and handed over the suicide letter seeking permission to kill himself.

Washington, January 31: Washington’s unauthorized surveillance drone operations in Iraq have prompted outrage among senior Iraqi officials and the public.

Iraqis say the US must respect the country’s sovereignty and consult with the Baghdad government before carrying out any operation now that “the war is over.”

But Iraqi officials say they have never been consulted by the US about the drone operations and that despite the official US withdrawal from Iraq, it maintains a strong presence in the country.

Hyderabad, January 31: A police officer who was recently terminated from service by director- general of police V Dinesh Reddy filed a petition in the AP Administrative Tribunal (APAT) Monday, stating that her sacking was the result of her refusal to do the police chief’s bidding in a private land deal involving his relatives.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) P Venkata Ratnam, posted at Ramachandrapuram in Medak district, was relieved of her duties on corruption charges by S A Huda, additional director-general of police (law and order) on Jan.

New Delhi, January 31: Union Budget 2012-13 may bring cheer to the salaried class as the Centre is said to be mulling a restructuring of the income tax slab.

According to reports, Monday, Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee may announce a rejig in income tax slabs and also increase the income tax exemption limit from the existing Rs 1.8 lakh to at least Rs 2 lakh.

A newspaper report said that the new tax slabs could be in line with the Direct Taxes Code Bill, which was introduced in Parliament in 2010.

Hyderabad, January 31: YSR Congress party honorary president and MLA YS Vijayamma on Monday appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct CBI to act “impartially” not yielding to any pressure from its political bosses as far as investigations against her son and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy are concerned.

“The way the CBI has been carrying on its investigations into various cases, (it is) desperately trying to establish a link to YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who never occupied any public office before May 2009, leaves much to be desired.

Warrangal, January 31: A TRS leader was Monday booked for allegedly slapping and swearing at a deputy commissioner of Warangal Municipal Corporation (WMC).

A case has been registered against TRS urban constituency in-charge A Vidyasagar under section 169 of Indian Penal Code after he reportedly slapped N Shankar during a ‘dial your commissioner’ programme. Vidyasagar swore at Shankar, who was conducting the programme in the absence of the commissioner, threw the grievance papers and slapped the deputy.

Hyderabad, January 31: Speaker Nadendla Manohar is likely to announce his decision on the disqualification of 16 rebel Congress MLAs and one PRP MLA in next 48 hours. While the 16 MLAs refused to appear before the Speaker, PRP MLA Shobha Nagi Reddy had questioned the legality of the whip issued by her party as it was merged with the Congress.

Haiti, January 31: A Haitian judge has recommended that former dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier face trial for corruption but not for human rights violations.

Investigative Magistrate Jean Carves said on Monday that Duvalier should not face charges of human rights abuses allegedly committed during his 15-year rule because those charges fell outside Haiti’s statute of limitations.

Duvalier is alleged to have embezzled between 300 million and 800 million dollars of assets during his presidency.

He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Hyderabad, January 31: The matter of a waqf building located at Abids, the prime locality of the city, given on paltry rent, has been referred to chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. The government is said to have sought legal opinion on the matter. Minority Welfare Minister Ahmedullah also met chief minister and clarified the matter.
