Nagpur, January 05: Two engineering students have been arrested by the police in Nagpur for harrasing a 16-year-old girl over an alleged MMS clip of their sexual encounter.

According to the police (rural), the girl was in a relationship with 19-year-old Mithilesh, son of Yashodha Dhanraj Gajbhiye, a influential Congress leader and a a senior zilla parishad member in Nagpur district.

Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): TDP politburo member Yerran Naidu on Wednesday accused the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government of attempting to save Vijay Sai Reddy, the accused in Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged disproportionate assets case.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Yerran Naidu said that the state government made futile efforts to save Vijay Sai Reddy by appointing him as a director in the RBI to save him from arrest by the probing agency.

Bright prospects of Sarabjit’s release: Lawyer

Lahore, January 05: Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, currently on death row following his conviction for alleged involvement in bomb attacks in 1990, is hopeful that his fresh mercy petition will get a “favourable decision” from President Asif Ali Zardari, his lawyer said Thursday.

Awais Sheikh, the counsel for Sarabjit, said the fresh mercy petition had received “special attention” from Zardari.

“This time, there are bright prospects of Sarabjit’s release,” he said.

Sarabjit’s release will help expedite the peace process between India and Pakistan, he claimed.

New Delhi, January 05: Against economic troubles in Europe and uncertainty in the US, Saudi Arabia today said it sees “huge potential” for stepping up commercial engagement with India.

However, Saudi Arabia which is home to two million Indian workforce, asked the Indian government to relax visa rules to boost bilateral trade and investment.

“We are eager to do more trade with India. Huge potential is present in both the nations as both are emerging economies,” Saudi Arabia Commerce and industry Minister Tawfeeq Bin Fouzan Al Rabea said at a Ficci meeting here.

20 Tons Of Herring Wash Up On Norway Coast, Then Vanish Suddenly

Oslo, January 05 : An estimated 20 tons of dead herring fish mysteriously washed up on the coast of Norway on New Year’s Eve and then disappeared.

The fish remains turned up on Norway’s northern coast and officials are still looking to explain just how and why they showed up.

“People say that something similar happened in the 80s,” said local resident Jan-Petter Jorgensen, 44, who was walking his dog Molly when he made the discovery.

“Maybe the fish have been caught in a deprived oxygen environment, and then died of fresh water?” Jorgensen asked.

Pak girl given a new lease of life by Indian doctors

Faisalabad, January 05: With her parents unable to afford her treatment, it was a miracle that seven-year-old Hadia Khan, a resident of Faisalabad in Pakistan, had survived till now after being detected with chronic liver diseases when she was just five-months-old.

But thanks to Indian doctors, the girl underwent a successful liver transplant surgery here, and can live a normal life now.

Kohli fined for showing obscene gesture

Lecturer jailed over Facebook status

Dhaka, January 05: Bangladesh’s high court on Wednesday sentenced a university lecturer to six months in jail after he posted a Facebook status wishing for the death of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a lawyer said.

Ruhul Khandakar, who was sentenced in absentia because he is studying in Australia, posted the comments after the death of Bangladesh’s most famous filmmaker Tareq Masud in a road accident last year.

“Tareq Masud died as a result of government giving licence to unqualified drivers. Many die, why does not Sheikh Hasina die?” the status said, according to court officials.

Saudi health technicians salary to be doubled

Abha, January 05: The Cabinet is considering increasing the salary of health technicians working in the private sector to SR6,000 from the present SR3,000. The government would pay 50 percent of the wages while the other half will come through the private sector, informed sources in the Ministry of Civil Service told Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Tuesday.

This step is intended to make health technicians in both private and the public sectors equal in terms of salary, sources added.

Shops of historical mosques are paid a paltry rent

Hyderabad, January 5: Mostly the mosques in Hyderabad have shops in the premises so that the salaries of imam, muezzin, khateeb, khuddam etc. can be paid by the income. There are nearly 75-80 mosques like this.

You would be surprised to know that the tenants of some shops located under old historical mosques pay just 60, 100 and 150 rupees as rents. It is a matter of shame that they pay Rs. 100 as mosque rent and Rs 200 for star connection for their TVs.

Saudi officials assault woman in Madina

Madina, January 05: Several members of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (the Hai’a), who assaulted a Saudi woman were convicted for abusing their power.

The conviction comes after a two-month investigation into the case by the Control and Investigation Board (CIB) in Madina.

The Hai’a members have now been referred to the Administrative Court. The CIB has also given the go-ahead for the woman to bring a civil rights case before the relevant authorities.

‘MMS could have forced girl to commit suicide’

Harda (MP), January 05: In a new twist to the suicide case of a minor girl, her parents have claimed that an obscene MMS could have driven their daughter to take the extreme step, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

The victim’s family members have provided a CD of the alleged MMS, featuring the deceased, to the police claiming that this must have forced their daughter to end her life, Harda’s Superintendent of Police (SP) R S Uikey told reporters.

Srilakshmi moves SC, CBI files caveat

New Delhi/Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): Tainted IAS officer Y Srilakshmi on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of orders of the Andhra Pradesh High Court suspending her bail in the illegal mining case even as CBI filed a caveat to preempt her move.

Srilakshmi filed the petition in the apex court challenging the High Court order of suspending of her bail plea.

In her special leave petition, she contended that the CBI apprehensions that she would influence witnesses if released on bail were not true.

BJP leaders to meet Prez over Lokpal Bill fiasco

New Delhi, January 05: A delegation of senior BJP leaders will meet President Pratibha Patil on Thursday to register the party’s protest against the Lokpal Bill fiasco in Parliament.

A decision in this regard was taken recently during the meeting of BJP’s core group, which took place a day after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die without putting to vote the Bill for an anti-graft ombudsman.
