Treat mother tongue like a mother: ZAK

Hyderabad, January 8: If students study in mother tongue their education will be strong. Urdu medium schools are being gradually closed down by the government. These views were expressed by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan editor Siasat at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall on the occasion of release ceremony of SSC Urdu medium question bank.

He further said that SSC question bank is helpful not only to pass in the exams but for obtaining distinction. Lauding the educational services of Safdarya High school he said Urdu medium students have got admission in medicine and engineering.

Miscreants wiped out memorial tablet from Puranapul door

Hyderabad, January 8: The Puranapul of Hyderabad has a special place among the old bridges of India and it is a memorial of Qutub Shahi architecture. This bridge was constructed to connect Hyderabad city with Golconda.

The construction of Puranapul was started in 1573 and finished in 1578. In 1820 after the Moosi river flood, the bridge was repaired during the period of Nawab Sikander Jah Bahadur for the memorial of which Maharaja Chandulal Shadan installed a tablet on its door.

‘US threats in PG to elicit Iran response’

Tehran, January 08: A senior Iranian lawmaker says that Tehran will respond to any threat posed by the US military presence in the Persian Gulf, stressing that Iran’s military strategy is one of defense.

“Should the United States maintain its presence in Iran’s waterways as before with its rhetoric of threat, the Islamic Republic will act accordingly,” said Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, chairman of Iran’s Majlis Foreign Relations Committee in a Friday interview.

Eamcet on May 12

Hyderabad, January 08 (INN): Eamcet 2012 will be conducted by JNTU on May 12 and there will be no change in the pattern of examination.

This was announced by the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE), Chairman K Prakasa Rao here on Saturday.

The ICET, for admission to MBA and MCA courses, will be conducted on May 18 by Andhra University, while ECET for common engineering and pharmacy courses will be conducted by JNTU, Kakinada on May 24. EDCET for BEd courses will be held on June 8 by Osmania University, he said.

Survey of Toli Masjid completed

Hyderabad, January 08: The survey work undertaken by the orders of the court relating to the Wakf property attached to Toli Masjid was completed yesterday. Hurdles were created. Two or Three land grabbers had illegally occupied wakf land. Mr. Mohammed Azmath filed a case with Wakf Tribunal. Ms. Geetanjali Gupta was appointed as Advocate Commissioner. The land grabbers used political support and also used police force as well to stop the survey. The efforts of Osman Shaheed & Adnan Baig Advocates proved to be fruitful and the survey was completed.

Teachers Eligibility test today

Hyderabad, January 08: A.P. is holding Teachers’ Eligibility Test for recruiting teachers in schools. The test is being conducted in 2134 centres of the state today. In this test 4,37,94 candidates will appear to write papers I and II. This was told by the Director of Govt. Examinations Ms. Seshu Kumari. The candidates whose hall tickets do not bear their photos won’t be allowed to enter the examination hall. Paper I will start at 9-30 am and Paper II at 2-30 pm. Late comers are not allowed.

Mock test for competitive exams preparation

Hyderabad, January 08: “I have never spoken against Telangana. I will not utter a word in future too. It is the central government which has to take a decision on the issue,” Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu told a huge gathering at Narsampet on Friday.

The 14km long Rytu Poru Bata of Naidu in the district culminated in a public meeting at Narsampet.

In a couple of minor incidents, a student hurled a shoe at the dais but was soundly thrashed by TDP workers and handed over to the police. As the meeting began, a handful of TRS activists raised Jai Telangana slogans.

Srilakshmi to surrender as SC refuses relief

Hyderabad, January 08: The Supreme Court today refused to stay the AP High Court orders suspending bail to the tainted IAS officer Srilakshmi, accused in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan reddy.

As per the high court orders, Srilakshmi will now have to surrender to the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad before this evening.

While refusing the stay, the apex court adjourned till Jan 16 further hearing on the special leave petition filed by the suspended IAS officer.

NIA busts fake currency racket in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, January 08: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday busted a multi-crore fake currency racket being run in Hyderabad and arrested four people in connection with the case. Fake cash worth Rs 27,000 was recovered from the spot.

The NIA conducted raids acting on a tip-off from an arrested gang leader in Kolkata.

Sources in the agency said that those arrested were operating a nation-wide network and smuggled large sums in 1000, 500 and 100 rupee notes from Bangladesh via air routes.

One dead in Bengal train collision

Kolkata, January 08 (IANS) One person was killed and six others injured as a local train collided with a stationary train in West Bengal’s Nadia district Saturday, a railway official said.

“The accident happened when the Shantipur-Sealdah local hit another Sealdah-Shantipur local which was waiting at the platform of the Fulia station,” said Samir Goswami, chief public relations officer, Eastern Railways.

An off-duty railway gateman who was traveling in the Sealdah-Shantipur local died and six other passengers were injured.

Naidu not committed to farmers’ welfare, says JAC

Hyderabad, January 08 (INN): Expressing doubts over the sincerity of Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to the farmers’ cause, JAC Chairman Prof M Kodandaram said TDP had a different view while it was in power.

Talking to media persons at JAC office, Kodandaram stated that “Naidu, who termed investment in agriculture as `waste’, has no moral right to conduct padayatras in the State,” Prof. Kodandaram told reporter here on Saturday.
