“KCR will go down as traitor”

Hyderabad, October 28: Telangana Telugu Desam Forum has blamed the TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for “dilution” of the movement for separate Statehood when it was at its peak.

In a statement, Forum leader, Motkupalli Narasimhulu said Mr. Rao owed an apology to the people of Telangana for letting them down badly. While full credit goes to government employees of the region for selflessly continuing the strike for 42 long days, Mr. Rao would go down as a “traitor” of the movement. Unfortunately political leaders of the region could not match the employees’ determination.

Cong, MIM playing musical chairs

Hyderabad, October 28: The Congress party seems to be playing a clever game with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen on sharing the Mayor post of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

As per the original understanding, the Congress will enjoy the Mayor post for three years and the MIM for two years. However, the Congress will relinquish the post after two years, so that the MIM would continue in the post for next two years and the final year term would once again go to the Congress.

Libya to put killers of Qaddafi on trial

Tripoli, October 28: Stung by an international outcry over the execution of Muammar Qaddafi by a lynch mob, Libya’s new rulers on Thursday promised to try the killers.

“With regard to Qaddafi, we do not wait for anybody to tell us,” Abdel Hafiz Ghoga, vice chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC), was quoted by wire services as saying at a news conference in the eastern city of Benghazi.

Congress versus Mayawati on corruption

New Delhi, October 28: The Congress Friday attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for misusing central funds while the Bahujan Samaj Party labelled as ‘politically motivated’ union minister Jairam Ramesh’s allegations of irregularities in the execution of the rural jobs scheme in the state.

‘It is a sad state of affairs that MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) funds were used for buying toys, tents and calendars,’ said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Delhi.

Jairam’s letter politically motivated: UP govt

Lucknow, October 28: Hitting back at the Centre, UP Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday wrote a letter to the Prime Minister stating that irregularities cited by Union Minister Jairam Ramesh in implementation of MNREGS in the state are “politically motivated”.

She accused Ramesh of having a pre-conceived agenda and arriving at conclusions without taking cognisance of steps taken by her government.

Advani demands immediate release of Kulkarni

Rajapalayam, October 28: BJP leader LK Advani on Friday demanded that his former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni, arrested for his alleged role in the cash-for-vote scam, be released immediately as he was “only” a whistle-blower.

He alleged that the Manmohan Singh government had bribed opposition MPs to vote in its favour in 2008 and had approached three BJP MPs.

“However, the BJP MPs in consultation with the party got the money, but put it before Parliament alleging the Congress tried to bribe them”, Advani said addressing a meeting here as part of his yatra.

Dalai Lama supports Anna’s movement

Dehradun, October 28: Supporting Anna Hazare’s anti-graft movement, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Friday said corruption is also a form of violence.

“Yes…. Corruption is a very very serious problem…. It is also a form of violence where people try to realise their wrong dreams,” the Dalai Lama said at a function marking the 76th founders day of the Doon School here.

He was asked by a student whether he supported Hazare’s movement against corruption.

The Nobel laureate also said that “some countries like China don’t care about corruption and moral values”.

Yeddyurappa to stay in jail when Advani arrives

Bangalore, October 28: Former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, arrested in two corruption cases, will remain behind bars when his Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leader L.K. Advani arrives here Oct 30 to address a public meeting against corruption and black money.

Justice B.V. Pinto of the Karnataka High Court Friday adjourned till Oct 31 Yeddyurappa’s bail plea hearing as arguments against it were incomplete.

The former chief minister, arrested Oct 15, has been in Bangalore’s central prison in the eastern suburb of Parappana Agrahara.

Electrician electrocuted; dies

Hyderabad, October 28: An electrician was hit by an electric shock when he was decorating and died. The incident occurred at Shivrampally police station limits where 23 year old Raju who was the resident of Sriram colony died. Raju had gone to his boss’s house at Katedan for decoration and was decorating the house with electric bulbs when suddenly he was hit by electric shock. Police has registered a case and investigations are on.

Cook commits suicide

Hyderabad, October 28: A man committed suicide due to fear of returning money at Chilkalguda area. According to police sources 35 year old Ramulu resident of Sanjiva Puram Parsigutta, who was a cook by occupation received 10 thousand rupees for cooking on October 19 but didn’t go for cooking on October 23 and spent the amount in drinking and other activities. Ramulu feared that he had no the money to return. Worried over this he hanged himself to death.

The suicide was revealed when the local informed police as the house was stinking.

Hyderabad, October 28: Congress MLC Mr. Farooq Husain has demanded that the chief minister convene a special meeting of Minority Welfare Department for repair and revamping of dilapidated mosques, dargahs and Ashurkhanas. He said that there are several such old mosques, ashurkhanas and dargahs in the state which are facing dilapidation due to financial crisis, they need special attention.

No.of Indian Haj pilgrims crosses 1 lakh

Dubai, October 28: A total of 101,072 Indian pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia so far to perform the annual Haj pilgrimage, Indian officials in the country have said.

According to the Consulate General of India in the Saudi city of Jeddah, 97,405 pilgrims are presently in Macca while 3,628 pilgrims are in Madinah.

A total of 356 flights have so far ferried pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

According to the consulate, as of Wednesday, 46 pilgrims have died, out of which 39 came through Haj Committee of India and seven through private tour operators.

Entire school in one classroom

Hyderabad, October 28: A school located in Jahanuma is being run since 2002 in which 67 students study in one room. Right from 1st to 5th classes are taught in the single room. The negligence of our people friendly government has reached to such an extent that the rent of one-room school which is Rs. 1085 is not paid on time.

In the year 2009 when the then collector of Hyderabad Naveen Mittal had visited this school he was surprised to see how 5 classes are being run in a single room.

I am not in CM race

Hyderabad, October 28: With DS elected to Legislative Council, speculations rife over Cheif Minister change in coming days. Though PCC president Botsa denied any such idea, political circles feel that DS name is acceptable to majority of the leaders across the state, if high command decides to replace KKR with a candidate from Telangana.

However, Mr Srinivas said that he is not CM race. Responding to a query, DS said, the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, is working very well and there is no need to replace him.

Dubai, October 28: A drunk worker, who bit his friend’s ear causing him 1 per cent rate disability, was sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay Dh1,000 fine by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

According to the records, the victim Rajishor Nela, 35, Indian, construction worker , testified that on August 18 at around 12am he was in the  accommodation of Al Fateh Contracting at Muhaisna 2 area  SMB, entered the room and attacked him by bitting his right ear.

Three bogies of Kalka Mail derail, no one injured

Chandigarh, October 28: Three coaches of Howrah-Delhi Kalka Mail derailed at a railway station in Haryana early this morning but no one was hurt. The derailment took place near Rathdhana station close to Sonipat, about 60 kms from Delhi, at 0543 hours, a Northern Railway official said.

The train was moving at a slow speed after crossing Sonipat in the busy Ambala-Delhi section when the three bogies jumped off the track, he said.

Divisional Railway Manager Ashwini Kumar said there was no casualty in the mishap and all the passengers of the derailed bogies were safe.

MIM seeks Mayors post for two years

Hyderabad, October 28: The Majilis Ittehadul Muslimeen has expressed its keenness to have their own candidate for the mayor’s post after completion of the two-year term of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s elected body.

In a letter addressed to the chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi asked them to respect the agreement reached between the two parties in November 2009.

RTA staff to put in extra hours

Hyderabad, October 28: The Road Transport Authority officials are taking steps to clear driving licence applications and vehicle registrations which had piled up during the Sakala Janula Samme.

�As many as 40,000 learning, permanent licence applications and 70,000 vehicles registrations are pending in Telangana region, including Hyderabad and Secunderabad due to the RTA employees’ strike from Sept 13 to Oct 24.

Road transport commissioner Hiralal Samariya told Express that working hours for staff in RTA offices in Telangana had been increased to clear the pending applications.
