10 lakh acre lands to be doled out on Gandhi Jayanthi

Hyderabad, October 1: Village development minister Mr. Mankayya Varaprasad said that 10 lakh acre lands will be dispensed off among landless people in the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. He told the programme will be inaugurated by chief minister Mr. N Kumar Reddy on October 2, at Prakasham district. He told that as part of the programme 4 lakh acre land will also be dispensed off to landless people in Telangana.

Cheetah cub found in Nizamabad

Nizamabad, October 1: A Cheetah cub was found in Khoonipur village of Varni mandal in Nizamabad district. The six year old cub lost its way to forest and came towards Khoonipur. When the dogs started barking on him the Cheetah cub got scared and hid behind the bushes near an old well.

Son kills father

Hyderabad, October 1 (Siasat News): A son killed his father in the jurisdiction of S R Nagar police station. The son was very upset as his father used to harass his mother.

According to police, one Pragi Yadiah, 58, was killed by his 27-year-old son Kishore. He was attacked by an iron rod. The deceased was a habitual drunkard and was living in Yousufguda.

Hyderabad passport office break record issues 64,000+ passpsorts

Hyderabad, October 01: Though the Telangana agitation was continuing for more than three weeks, the Hyderabad Regional Passport office(HRPO) has issued a record breaking 64,000 plus passports in September alone this year.

This was a new record in the country and with this, the HRPO has issued more than 1.19 lakh passport in the Past two months, HRPO said in a release here friday.

AIPEA National President Vasudev congratulated the staff which worked double shifts to clear the pendency in the past two months inspite of lesser working days owing to bandhs, the release added.

Mother Butchers Daughter In Name Of Allah

London, October 01: A Muslim woman disemboweled her daughter as a sacrifice to God after she became convinced the four-year-old was possessed by spirits, the Old Bailey heard.

Shayma Ali, 36, stabbed the girl up to 40 times and took out her liver while Koranic verses played in the background.

When police arrived at their east London home, Ali was heard chanting: ‘I seek refuge in God from the curse of Satan’.

Ali was found covered in blood rocking back and forward in the lounge of her home, with the child’s liver on the carpet.

Hyderabad bandh complete

Hyderabad, October 1: The general strike called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has entered into 18th day. Hyderabad bandh was observed on Friday on the appeal made by JAC after conducting various protest programmes such as boycott of government work, rasta roko, rallies and gherao of Telangana leaders.

Bandh was complete in the new city however the old city was not affected by the bandh. RTC services were totally disrupted and traffic seemed to be quite low due to shops being closed down. Petrol pumps and cinema theatres were also closed.

Power crisis deepens in Andhra

Hyderabad, October 01: Power crisis in the state has deepened further with the power supply deficit touching 35 million units on Thursday.

It is likely to worsen as the NTPC has shutdown its seventh unit of 500 MW at Ramagundam on Friday evening due to short supply of coal arising out of the strike of Singareni workers.

Due to closure of its seventh unit, the NTPC-Ramagundam Thermal Power Plant is producing 1,528 MW against its capacity of 2,600 MW.

Government employees to get pay today

Hyderabad, October 01: The state government is firm on invoking the ‘No Work No Pay’ rule against the striking Telangana employees.

It has decided to pay salaries to all the government staff on Saturday based on their attendance.

Accordingly, Telangana employees who have been on strike for the T cause since September 13, will get salaries for the first 12 days of the month only.

According to finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, necessary instructions have been given to the treasury department for payment of salaries to the employees based on their attendance.

3 held for murder of girl, grandmom

Hyderabad, October 01: Police on Friday solved the mystery behind the murder of an elderly woman and her granddaughter that took place nearly two weeks back.

Three persons involved in the killings were arrested and stolen property recovered from them.

Police said the ten-yearold girl was murdered as she witnessed the killing of her grandmother.

G Bhavani (65) and N Pravallika (10) were found dead in their flat in Shiva Sai Apartments at Chikkadpally on September 16 by the owner of the house.

Their bodies were found in a highly decomposed state.

TRS chief to meet PM, Swaraj in Delhi

RTC stir causes more pollution!

Hyderabad, October 01: Ever since the APSRTC staff went on strike from September 19, pollution levels have gone up in some prominent areas in the city, according to the AP Pollution Control Board.

APPCB officials attribute the spike in pollution to the increased usage of personal vehicles.

This phenomenon was observed in areas where people depend heavily on public transport and had to take out their personal vehicles due to the ongoing strike.

Renowned architect Khairuddin Ahmed Siddique passes away

Hyderabad, October 1: Internationally renowned architect Mr. Mohammad Khairuddin Ahmed Siddique son of late Zaheeruddin Ahmed passed away on Friday. Mr. Khairuddin Ahmed was unwell for the past few days. Funeral prayer was performed at Shahi Masjid Public Garden. Burial took place at graveyard adjacent to Masjid Hazrat Abadullah Shah Dabeerpura.

Mr. Siddique had the privilege of taking part in the construction work of Harmain Sharifain. He was one among those selected architects who had chosen architectural profession at its beginning.

Salaries withheld

Hyderabad, October 01: As many as 1,75,595 government employees in the Telangana region will not get their September salaries on Saturday as the drawing officers in eight districts are also participating in the Sakala Janula Samme since it began on September 13. Out of the total strength of 2,51,401 employees (1,99,656 regular and 51,745 contract) in the Telangana region, only 75,806 have been attending duty during the strike period.

KCR will go to jail like Gali

Hyderabad, October 01: TDP senior leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu has said that TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao would go to jail like the Karnataka former minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy if CBI undertook an investigation into his activities.

Talking to the media here on Friday, he alleged that KCR had colluded with the Congress only to ensure that his own corrupt activities would not come out. He demanded that CBI investigation should be instituted into KCR’s activities.

India successfully test fires N-capable Agni II

Bhubaneswar, October 01: India on Friday successfully test fired the nuclear capable Agni II missile from a defence base in Orissa.

The surface-to-surface missile with a range of over over 2,000 km was test fired in Bhadrak district, said S.P. Dash, director of the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler’s Island, about 200 km from here.

“It was a perfect launch,” Dash told IANS. He added that the missile was tested at about 9.30 am.

The launch of the missile was postponed Aug 29 due to a technical snag.

First batch of Haj pilgrims leave for Madina

Hyderabad, October 01: The first batch of Haj pilgrims from the state boarded the flight to Madina (Saudi Arabia) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the wee hours of Friday. State Haj Committee officials said a total 297 passengers left for the pilgrimage.

Officials said, this year, 26 flights would ferry 7,200 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The last flight is scheduled to take off on October 16. The Hajis will start returning after performing Haj from November 13 onwards and the last flight will arrive here on December 1.
