IGNOU to have centre for the deaf

New Delhi, Octber 02:The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will inaugurate the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center (ISLRTC) for the deaf community Oct 4, the varsity announced Sunday.

The centre has been set up with the support of the social justice and empowerment ministry.

Hyderabad, October 2: Chief Minister had to face Jai Telangana slogans at his camp office on Saturday. Unexpectedly the slogans were not raised by either TRS or JAC activists but were raised by the women belonging to the city who were called by Congress leaders.

This is a Muslim graveyard on which a non Muslim has constructed a room and has set up a temple. Popular Front of India to organize public convention

Hyderabad, October 2: A public convention will be organized by Popular Front of India on the topic of social justice on Sunday October 2, at 7:30 pm at Khilwat ground.

Maulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi secretary Muslim Personal Law Board will preside over. Chief Muslim Dalit leaders will address the convention. It should be noted that this is the first convention in connection with the All India Social Conference to be held on November 26 and 27 in Delhi.

Striking govt. employees paid just 12 days salary

Hyderabad, October 2: Except for those who participated in general strike, the state government on Saturday paid full salary to all the officials and workers of the state for the month of September; while the striking employees were paid a salary of just 12 days. The number of government employees working in various public departments including Singareni Collieries, APSRTC, various electric departments, etc. who were paid 12 days salary is 5.70 lakhs. Telangana legislators removed from assembly building

Hyderabad, October 02: Police forcibly removed four legislators from the chamber of the deputy speaker at the Andhra Pradesh assembly building late Saturday, ending a nearly nine-hour-long episode.

The personnel from the police commissioner’s Task Force broke open the door of the chamber, bodily lifted the legislators and dropped them at their respective houses around midnight.

A large number of Telangana supporters, including lawyers, had gathered outside the assembly building in support of the legislators who had locked themselves in the chamber since 2.30 p.m. Saturday.

Telangana issue to be settled soon: Azad

Hyderabad, October 02: The issue of a separate state for Telangana will be settled as soon as possible, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said here Sunday.

He said consultations with the elected representatives of all three regions of Andhra Pradesh — Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema — were completed but there is need for more consultations on the issue at the national level.

Azad, who is in charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, was talking to reporters at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here after his arrival on a daylong visit to the state.

Nagarjuna threatens woman journalist

Hyderabad, October 2: Jubilee Hills police has registered a case against Telugu film star Nagarjuna on the complaint lodged by a freelance woman journalist. According to police sources Sunita Chaudhri went to Annapurna studio on September 29 where she met Nagarjuna. Earlier Sunita Chaudghri had written an article about Nagarjuna which was published in a newspaper; the film actor was angry over it. As soon as the two came face to face Nagarjuna argued with Sunita and threatened her. Police Jubilee Hills has started investigations.

Team Anna’s Jan Lokpal survey starts today

New Delhi, September 02: Team Anna will kickstart a nationwide survey on Jan Lokpal Bill from Sunday.

The week-long process will start from Ghaziabad, the Lok Sabha constituency of BJP leader Rajnath Singh and cover UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s constituency of Rae Bareli and Rahul Gandhi’s seat Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

Mother, son found murdered

Hyderabad, October 02: A 35-year-old woman and her 13-year-old son were found murdered at their house in the limits of Rajendra Nagar police station on Saturday.

According to police, the local residents of Manikyamma Nagar Colony have informed the local police station that foul smell was emanating from a house which was locked from outside. The police officials broke open the lock and were shocked to see the dead bodies of a woman and a boy. The local residents identified the deceased as Geetha and her son Chandu. Both the bodies were high decomposed.

Hyderabad, October 02: In an unprecedented development, four legislators from Telangana region carried on a sit-in inside the speaker’s chamber at the Andhra Pradesh assembly till late Saturday night, demanding that their resignations be accepted.

High drama was on at the assembly premises as four legislators led by former minister Nagam Janardhana Reddy continued their protest for over eight hours, insisting that the speaker accept their resignations over the demand for separate Telangana state.
