Demand to hold BUMS counseling at Hyderabad

Hyderabad, September 5: President Association of Urdu development Mr. Mohammad Tameezuddin Ahmed has urged the government to hold BUMS counseling at Hyderabad. He said that this counseling had been conducted at Nizamia Tibbi College Charminar Hyderabad for long but for some time this counseling is held at NTR University Vijaywada due to which students face lot of difficulties besides this alleged irregularities are reported during counseling.

Ajay Devgn to clash with Aamir!

Mumbai, September 05: Actor Ajay Devgn who recently delivered a blockbuster hit in ‘Singham’ is all set to challenge none other than Aamir Khan. His forthcoming film `Tezz` has been slotted to release with Aamir Khan-starrer in January 2012.

Apparently, Ajay’s flick `Tezz` directed by Priyadarshan was all set to release in November this year. But, a possible clash with Ranbir Kapoor`s `Rockstar` didn`t seem to be a good idea.

A pair of Rhinos put on display at zoo

Hyderabad, September 5: A pair of male and female Rhinoceros has been put on display at open enclosure at Nehru Zoological Park Hyderabad which was brought from Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park Patna Bihar. S Vijayarama Raju, minister for Forests flagged the pair of rhino. On the occasion zoo curator M A Waheed and other officials were present. The pair of rhinoceros was brought in exchange for the animals of Hyderabad zoo.

Digvijay should be sent to mental hospital: Anna

Ralegan Siddhi, September 05: Sharply reacting to Digvijay Singh’s comments on Arvind Kejriwal, Anna Hazare on Monday said the Congress general secretary should be sent to a mental hospital.

Digvijay Singh had on Sunday accused Kejriwal of amassing crores of rupees for his NGO.

Singh charged the former bureaucrat with not only flouting government service rules but also being involved in politics and collecting “crores” through his NGO.

Singh also drew a line between Yoga Guru Ramdev and Gandhian Anna Hazare, both of whom are engaged in anti-corruption campaigns.

Shehla murder: another BJP MP under the scanner

Bhopal, September 05: Almost nineteen days after RTI activist Shehla Masood was gunned down by unidentified assailants outside her home, there seems to be no breakthrough in the murder case.

After Tarun Vijay, another BJP MP whose name has cropped up during investigations is Anil Madhav Dave. Shehla had filed some RTI applications against a trust run by Dave.

Dave finally broke his silence, saying, “since it it a procedure, everyone need not behave like the CBI… The case is being now investigated by the agency.”

3-yr-old raped, killed during visarjan

Mumbai, September 05: The frenzied crowd on the streets during Ganpati visarjan claimed its first victim as a three-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Goregaon (East) on Friday evening.

The victim, a resident of Aarey Colony had gone to participate in the Ganpati immersions with her sister. However, amid the crowds, she got separated from her elder sister.

According to investigating officers from the Vanrai police station, the victim began crying after losing her sister.

Two from state die in US, UAE

Hyderabad, September 05: Two persons from Andhra Pradesh, including a Hyderabadi, were killed in different mishaps in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

A software engineer from Rajahmundry drowned in the Grand River in the wee hours of Satrurday. Chakka Shiva Kiran Kumar, 34, drowned accidentally in the river when he along with wife Rekha and friends went for a picnic in Michigan. Efforts were on to trace his body.

NATO offers missile defence cooperation to India

Brussels, September 05: In a move that holds great strategic significance, NATO has offered to share its missile defence technology with India to build its capability to shoot down incoming enemy missiles, realising the commonality of threats faced by the 28-nation grouping and South Asia’s pre-eminent power.

India, thus, becomes the only nation, apart from Russia, outside of the NATO that the US-led military alliance is willing to work in the critical missile defence technology sector.

UN official in Haiti sacked in sex attack probe

Port-au-Prince, September 05: Uruguay announced it has sacked a Navy commander with the UN mission in Haiti after a video was circulated of an alleged sexual assault on a young Haitian man by members of a Uruguayan peacekeeping unit.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that in addition to the dismissal of the official — who was not immediately named — a military justice board had been convened and paperwork for the return home of the five allegedly involved had been started.

Mamata snubs PM, skips visit to Dhaka

New Delhi, September 05: In yet another embarrassment to the ruling UPA government, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has refused to accompany Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his upcoming visit to Bangladesh on September 6-7.

Reports, Monday, claimed that the Trinamool Congress chief is unhappy with the Teesta water sharing accord, which the two countries are due to sign during the Prime Minister’s visit. Heavy rains and mudslides killed 15 people in Japan

Tokyo, September 05: Heavy rains and mudslides from powerful Typhoon Talas killed at least 15 people in Japan as the storm moved northward past the country on Sunday. At least 43 others are missing, local media said.

Evacuation orders and advisories have been issued to 460,000 people in western and central Japan, Kyodo News agency reported.

NHK TV footage showed a bridge that had been swept away after intense rainfall, which caused a river to swell with brown torrents. People holding umbrellas waded through knee-deep water in city streets and residential areas.
