Cop caught having sex on car bonnet

Washington, September 05: A former police officer of the year has been fired after he was filmed having sex with a woman on the bonnet of a car in the United States.

Bert Lopez, an eight-year veteran of the New Mexico State Police, was stood down from his duties after photos of him having sex in full uniform went viral across the internet last week, the Santa Fe New Mexican reports.

But Sergeant Tim Johnson confirmed to the newspaper that Lopez is no long employed by the state police, but has 30 days to appeal his firing.

Relief from pesky calls, SMSes from Sept 27

New Delhi, September 05: Millions of telecom subscribers (mobile and landline) will finally get relief from unwanted calls and SMSes from September 27.

All those subscribers who have registered with the National Customer Preference Registry (earlier known as ‘Do Not Call Registry ‘) would get relief from all commercial communications, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) said.

“…relevant clauses of regulations have been amended and the regulations are being implemented from September 27,” it added in a statement.

Janardhana Reddy sent to jail

Hyderabad, September 05: Former Karnataka tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinivasa Reddy have been sent to 14 days in judicial custody. The Reddys were produced before a Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Hyderabad on Monday afternoon. The Hyderabad court will decide on the CBI’s request for 15-day custody of the duo on September 7.

CBI takes charge of Shehla Masood murder case

New Delhi, September 05: A Central Bureau of Investigation team led by DIG Hemant Priyadarshi on Monday visited the residence of slain Madhya Pradesh] RTI activist Shehla Masood in Bhopal and recreated the sequence of events that led to her murder.

The team, which reached Masood’s house around 11 am recreated the scene of the killing, which took place outside her residence last month.

It examined the car in which Masood was shot dead and a man was made to sit in the vehicle to find out the possible angles from which she may have been shot.

Fake account of CPM leader in Face Book

Hyderabad, September 05: Unidentified persons have been maintaining two accounts in Face Book, in the name of the CPI (M) State Secretary Mr. B V Raghavulu, without his knowledge.

Mr. Raghavulu was aghast to find one of the accounts with the information taken from the Wikipedia without his photograph and another account with photograph. There were several mistakes in the information including the date of birth of the communist leader. It said he likes music and is fond of Puchalapalli Sundaraiah’s life history. It also said that ABN was his favourite channel.

Not connected to Janardhana Reddy: Jagan

New Delhi, September 05: An enraged Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, MP and son of late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Monday slammed the media for “falsely” connecting him to mining baron G. Janardhana Reddy who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an illegal mining case.

“How is Janardhana Reddy connected to me? I don’t have any connection with him. He is a separate man in a different state,” fumed Reddy, who is in the capital to meet various national-level political leaders.

Court seeks case diary in Kerala sex scandal case

Kochi, September 05: The Kerala High Court Monday asked the state police to submit the case diary in the investigation into the two-decade-old Kozhikode sex scandal case involving state minister P.K. Kunhalikutty.

The court served notices to the state government and the director general of police. It ordered the police to produce the case diary on Sep 22.

Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan had Friday filed a petition in the high court, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the case.

Hindu trader shot dead in Pakistan

Islamabad, September 05: A Hindu trader has been shot dead in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, a media report said Monday.

The assailants fled the scene after the attack Sunday in Hub tehsil of the province, Daily Times reported.

Police have since handed over the body to his relatives.

Hindu political and community groups have burnt tyres and closed the Quetta-Karachi highway to protest the incident, and demanded the arrest of the attackers.

11 Babies Die In Just 2 Days in AP

Hyderabad, September 05: As per reports, eleven babies have lost their lives in just two days at the Government General Hospital at Kurnool in the state of Andhra Pradesh, allegedly owing to a faulty oxygen supply system.

Four babies died on August 31 accompanied by seven on September 01 at the administration-run hospital, around 180 km south of Hyderabad.

All the babies were just 5 days old, and admitted to the hospital for serious paediatric cases for cure.

Distraught parents said the infants died due to lack of oxygen supply through ventilators.

CBI shifts mining baron to Hyderabad

Hyderabad, September 05: Former Karnataka minister and mining baron Galli Janardhana Reddy and Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) director B. Srinivas Reddy, who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Andhra Pradesh early Monday in an illegal mining case, were brought here.

Amid tight security, the two were shifted to the CBI office in Hyderabad, where doctors examined them. The CBI officials later began questioning them. They were likely to be presented before a court later.

Decision to bring NGOs under the purview of Lokpal opposed

Hyderabad, September 5: People’s Support Organization working for the welfare of government employees has strongly criticized the decision of Indian parliament to bring Prime minister and NGOs under the purview of Lokpal bill.

Obama takes Arogyasri cue

Hyderabad, September 05: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, claimed that the US President, Mr Barack Obama, had taken a cue from the Arogyasri medical insurance scheme of the AP government to promise a similar programme for the US citizens.

He said, “Mr Obama had promised a medical insurance scheme for the US citizens two years after Andhra Pradesh had introduced it.” The CM said lakhs of people were benefited through the Arogyasri health insurance facility.
