Both Sabitha and Belineni held the mines portfolio in YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s cabinet.

TDP takes credit for Gali’s arrest

Hyderabad, September 06: Taking credit for the arrest of former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy on Monday by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the multi-billion illegal mining scam, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu said it was his party which brought the entire scam to the nation’s notice.

New Delhi, September 06: Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday alleged that social activist Anna Hazare was a “mask for the RSS like yoga guru Ramdev” and was being used to divert attention from the arrest of Sangh members in terror cases.

The Lokpal issue, Mr. Singh told journalists here, was raked up “to divert the attention of the people from the arrests of various RSS activists in connection with terrorism and others in corruption cases.”

“They [BJP and RSS] formulated this plan. First they made Baba Ramdev as its mask and them Anna,” he alleged.

MI6 knew I was tortured, says Libyan rebel leader

Libya, September 06: A Libyan rebel leader who was rendered to Tripoli with the assistance of MI6 said on Monday that he had told British intelligence officers he was being tortured but they did nothing to help him.

In a claim that will increase the pressure for further disclosure about the UK’s role in torture and rendition since 9/11, Abdul Hakim Belhaj said a team of British interrogators used hand signals to indicate they understood what he was telling them.

“I couldn’t believe they could let this go on,” he said. “What has happened deserves a full inquiry.”

Chota Rajan’s gang member found murdered

Lucknow, September 06: A member of underworld don Chota Rajan’s gang was found dead with bullet wounds in Dhurpur area here, a top police officer said today.

“A bullet-riddled body was found near a factory in Iradatganj village yesterday,”said UP Special DGP Brij Lal here.

With the help of mobile phone found near the body, he was identified as Abu Sahma alias Osama of Jaunpur, an active member of the Chota Rajan gang, Lal said.

Ahmedabad, September 06: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flayed ‘pseudo-secularists’ for resorting to vote-bank politics, and cautioned Muslim community members from falling prey to them. “Us muslim victims of 9/11”

Washington, September 06: “The Muslim community and peace activists in different parts of America have been victimized by the climate that unfolded in the United States [after] 9/11,” Mauri Saalakhan, the director of The Peace through Justice Foundation, said in an interview with Press TV’s US Desk on Saturday.

This comes as new reports indicate that the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have singled out Muslim communities for surveillance after 9/11 attacks.

No Teesta pact without Mamata’s consent: Govt

New Delhi, September 06: In order to persuade a sulking Mamata Banerjee, the Central government on Monday said that no Teesta water sharing accord will be signed with Bangladesh without the West Bengal Chief Minister’s consent.

Giving clarifications on the issue Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said that no pact will be signed with the neighbouring country without consultations with the West Bengal government.

The Foreign Secretary confirmed that Mamata Banerjee will not be accompanying the Prime Minister to Bangladesh which he will visit tomorrow.

Body found in suitcase

Bronx, September 05: A decomposed body was found stuffed inside a suitcase on a Bronx street Sunday, sources said.

The unidentified body was discovered by cops on Needham Ave. near Wilson Ave. in Williamsbridge after a neighbor called about 3:30 p.m. to report the luggage appeared suspicious, the sources said.

It was not clear how long it had been since the suitcase had been dumped on the block, but the body was decomposed, a source said.

The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to try to identify the body and find the cause of death.
