Stealth missile joins Iran’s arsenal

Advani meets ‘scapegoat’ Kulkarni in Tihar

New Delhi, September 29: Senior BJP leader LK Advani along with Arun Jaitley reached Tihar jail in New Delhi to meet the “scapegoat” of Cash-for-votes scam – Sudheendra Kulkarni on Wednesday, Sept 28.

Kulkarni, the one time right hand of Advani, appeared before a Delhi court seeking interim bail on Tuesday. However, the self-claimed whistle-blower of the scam has been sent to judicial custody till Oct 1.

Before his arrest, Kulkarni had stated, “I was only a whistle blower and my purpose was to expose the rampant corruption.”

Cash-for-votes: Ex-BJP MPs bail hearing today

New Delhi, September 29: A Delhi court is expected to hear the bail pleas of two former BJP MP’s Mahabir Singh Bhagora and Faggan Singh Kulaste.

Both BJP leaders were arrested for their alleged involvement in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam.

Delhi Police is also likely to file a supplementary chargesheet about the probe conducted into the money trail.

Mum killed in car driven by daughter in Saudi

Riyadh, September 29: An old Saudi woman was killed in a road accident involving a car driven by her daughter in defiance of a long-standing ban on driving by women in the conservative Muslim Gulf Kingdom, press reports said on Wednesday.

The girl was driving her sick mother for treatment at a hospital in the central town of Aflaj when the car overturned on the road because of a tyre blast.

“The mother was killed in the accident, her daughter, in her 20s, was injured and taken to hospital,” Sharq daily said.

Bhopal, September 29 (Pervez Bari): Madhya Pradesh now stands at third position in the country in wheat procurement. Last year, a record procurement of 49.64 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was made. On birth certificate, 7-yr-old has three fathers, the ‘rapists’ of his mother

Bhopal, September 29: The seven-year-old may not have a dad, but in the space meant for ‘father’s name’ on his birth certificate, there are three names of the three men who allegedly raped his mother when she was 15.

Admitting that it was a shocking case of insensitivity, Sub-divisional Magistrate (Dindori) Kameshwar Choube has said he would personally determine if the certificate was genuine, how it had been issued and take appropriate action.

‘Pak, US need to work as partners in Afghanistan’

New Delhi, September 29: The Telangana Congress leaders have written a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh urging him to take a decision on Telangana issue early.

The Telangana Congress leaders including MPs, Ministers and MLAs met at Rajya Sabha member VH Hanumantha Rao’s residence here on Wednesday to discuss the future course of action to be adopted in October if the high command fails to announce decision on Telangana by September end. T-TDP MLAs resign afresh

Hyderabad, September 29: As many as 32 MLAs of Telugu Desam Party hailing from Telangana region on Wednesday submitted their resignations afresh demanding statehood for the region.

Earlier, the members of TDP Telangana Forum met at the TDP Legislature Party office in the Assembly premises to discuss the strategy. After about seven hours of deliberations, the members concluded that all MLAs from the region must resign en masses for the cause of Telangana. PM to visit quake-hit Sikkim today

New Delhi, September 29: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit earthquake-hit areas of Sikkim on Thursday.

As per reports, the PM would reach Gangtok via Bagdogra in north Bengal.

The north-eastern state was hit by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake on September 18 causing extensive damage especially in North Sikkim.

Rescue and relief operations are on. The injured are being treated in various government facilities and also referred to hospitals outside the state.

Food prices rise due to T-strike

Hyderabad, September 29: The Sakala Janula Samme or the people’s general strike has inflated the prices of almost all essential commodities in the State capital.

The prices of vegetables, rice and other food items have increased by 10 to 30 per cent in the last one fortnight. Although the private transport operators are not participating in the strike, but due to frequent road blockades and other agitations in the Telangana region, the general strike had a negative impact on the overall supplies of vegetables and other commodities.

FBI arrests man for planning to blow up Pentagon

Washington, September 29: United States authorities have arrested a suspected follower of al Qaeda and charged him with plotting an attack on the Pentagon with an explosive laden remote controlled aircraft.

Rezwan Ferdaus, a 26-year-old US citizen, was also charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organisation, specifically to al Qaeda, in order to carry out attacks on US soldiers stationed overseas, the Justice Department said on Thursday.
