Hyderabad, September 08: The police action against the Muslims after the communal violence in Adhoni is causing a lot of inconvenience to Muslims. Curfew has been clamped in the town and the Muslims are being arrested. The police station of Adhoni Town is not receiving any complaints from the Muslims. Police has given free hand to the other community during curfew. The injured persons have been kept in a hostel where no medical aid is available. There is no one to take care of them. Adhoni town has become the example of violation of Human Rights.

Hyderabad, September 08: President of Telangana Muslims Joint Action Committee said that the communal violence in Adhoni is a failure of the the police which gave a free hand to the miscreants to damage Muslim properties. Policemen were silent spectators. Communal organizations in Adhoni resorted to violence in an organized way in connivance with the local police.

New U.S. Consul-General to focus on bringing more students to India

Washington, September 08: The United States Consulate General in Chennai will place strong focus on education, especially on bringing more US students to India for study and internship under a new initiative, the new Consul-General, Jennifer McIntyre, said here on Wednesday.

In her first interaction with the media after taking over the assignment, she said, “I am very happy to note that over 100,000 Indian students are studying in the US; we want to see more.” At the same time, she added:“We want more US students to be studying in India as well.”

Adhoni Communal riots Mr. Farooq Hussain MLC condemns

Hyderabad, September 08: Condemning the communal riots in Adhoni, Mr. Farooq Hussain, MLC demanded the police to make appropriate arrangements during the Ganesh festival and also to punish the culprits.

He said that Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of A.P. is taking tight security arrangements despite the critical law and order situation in the state. He has taken many steps for the developments of the Muslims. He has extended reservations to Muslims for ten more years.

Regular pay scales for school teachers – Suggestions by Education Minister

Hyderabad, September 08: Mr. Parthasarathy, Minister for Secondary Education, Govt. of A.P. has sent some important suggestions to the Chief Minister of A.P. regarding giving regular pay scales to the secondary school teachers recruited on the basis of District Selection Committee Examination held in 2008.

The minister has given an assurance to the leaders of A.P. State Teaches’ union to abolish apprenticeship system for teachers and to give them regular pay scales. Finance Dept has already sent a negative reply in this connection.

Exoneration of the Muslim youths in Makkah Masjid bomb blast case

Hyderabad, September 08: The three-member sub committee consisting of Secretary, Minorities Welfare Dept, Principal Secretary, General Administration Dept. and Principal Secretary of Finance Dept. has sought the list of the innocent Muslim youths who were arrested by the commissioner of police Hyderabad earlier and exonerated by the court.

The committee was been constituted by the Govt. of A.P. to consider payment of compensation to these innocent Muslim youths as recommended by the National Minorities Commission, New Delhi.

Haj pilgrims – A.P. gets 7454 seats

Hyderabad, September 08: AP Haj Committee has been allotted 7454 seats this year. As per the draw 6145 pilgrims have been selected whereas 1019 more Haj pilgrims were selected from the waiting list. Under Govt. quota 290 Haj pilgrims have been selected. Saudi Airlines has prepared the schedule of flights only for 7200 Haj pilgrims.

PM, wife pledge to donate eyes

New Delhi, September 08: Setting an example, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Singh on Thursday pledged to donate their eyes.

Singh and Kaur signed the pledge form on the occasion of National Eye Donation day.

There are over 4.5 million visually challenged persons in the country and doctors feel that at least three million can gain their sight through cornea transplant.

Eye donation can help restore vision among the corneally-blind.

Anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders to visit Australia

Washington, September 08: Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who was banned from Britain for his anti-Islamic views, plans to visit Australia.
Mr Wilders, 48, provoked outrage among Dutch Muslims when he branded Islam a violent religion, likened the Quran to Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

He was acquitted of five race-hate charges in June when the court ruled his comments offensive but legal.

The British banned Mr Wilders in 2009 but a tribunal upheld his appeal.

Mr Wilders is expected to visit late this year, or next year.

Extra security for Ganesh procession in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Khan told reporters that the police force had already made all security arrangements for the massive processions and will mobilise additional forces.

Rahul Gandhi meets blast victims

New Delhi, September 08: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday faced a crowd which raised slogans against him when he went to meet the victims of the High Court bomb blast at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

He reached the hospital in the afternoon and spent nearly half an hour with the victims and their family members.

Mr. Gandhi sought to know from the hospital administration the nature of the injuries suffered by the victims in the blast.

While leaving the hospital, he had to face a hostile.

‘Osama was looking to use 9/11 anniv to strike US’

Washington, September 08: Slain al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was looking to use the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks as another opportunity to strike the US, a top White House counter-terrorism official has said.

“We know from the material recovered from the bin Laden compound that he was looking at the 10th anniversary of 9/11 as an opportunity to strike yet again at the US homeland,” Deputy National Security Advisor John Brennan told the PBS NEWSHOUR in an interview.

Youth jumps to death from hospital building

Hyderabad, September 08: An unidentified person committed suicide by jumping from a private hospital on Wednesday. Police are yet to ascertain why the deceased took the extreme step.

According to police, a 25 year-old whose details are not yet known, committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the seven-storeyed private hospital. Around 11 a.m on Wednesday, Sayamma, a construction worker who was working on the sixth floor, noticed a youth, wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans, strolling on the sixth floor of Poulomi Hospital located at Sainikpuri.

Man fathers 5 children by teens

Mexico City, September 08: A Mexican has been accused of imprisoning two teenage girls and fathering five children by them before killing one and their baby.

Jorge Iniestra, 32, from Mexico City, allegedly abused the teenagers the daughters of his girlfriend for seven years and refused to let them outside.

In a chilling parallel to Austrian Josef Fritzl, he is said to have pulled the girls out of school and locked them in a single, filthy room in his mother’s house.

Muslims now worse off, says expert

New Delhi, September 08: Dr Abu Saleh Shariff is an angry man these days. The economist and former member-secretary of the Prime Minister’s high-level committee on social, educational and economic status of Muslims, which submitted its report five years ago, is annoyed that the government has squandered opportunities provided by Justice Rajinder Sachar Report and not put in place a proper assessment and monitoring system.

He claims to have written to the PM and the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission last month on issues ignored by the Centre.

Sonia Gandhi returns from US

New Delhi, September 08: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi returned to Delhi on Thursday morning after her successful surgery for an undisclosed ailment in the US.

She returned to India after more than a month and is being accompanied by her daughter Priyanka.

The 64-year-old Gandhi had left the country on August 02 and underwent a surgery on around August 04 and 05.

Heavy gunfire in central Syria; 11 killed

Beirut, September 08: Syrian security forces unleashed a barrage of gunfire on Wednesday, killing at least 11 people and leaving thousands cowering in their homes as President Bashar Assad’s troops kept up the government’s assault on a 6-month-old uprising, activists and witnesses said.

Nine of the dead were in Homs, a hotbed of opposition to Assad’s autocratic regime. Two others were shot dead during raids in Sarameen, in northern Syria.
