Film collections not affected by bandh

Hyderabad, September 25: The ongoing bandh has no major impact on the Tollywood and Dukudu, the Mahesh Babu film released yesterday that is maintaining its record mark of collections.

With educational institutions declaring festival vacation and Tollywood earlier expressing its solidarity with Telangana agitation by shutting down screening of films by two days, it is a smooth sailing so far for the film industry.

Hyderabad faces Power cuts ?

Hyderabad,September 25 :The striking employees of the electricity department in Telangana have threatened to cut power supply to the houses and offices of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and other ministers in Hyderabad.

As the indefinite ‘people’s strike’ demanding separate statehood to Telangana entered the 12th day Saturday, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of electricity employees said they would resort to power cuts if the government failed to respond favourably to the demand.

Manmohan to visit Iran

Jagjit Singh stable but unconscious

Mumbai, September 25: Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, who underwent a surgery after he suffered brain haemorrhage on Friday, is stable now, according to Sudhir Dagaonkar, Director, Administrative Services, Lilavati Hospital, here on Saturday.

“He is stable but unconscious and is being monitored closely by a team of doctors in the Intensive Care Unit.” His breathing pattern was normal. Social micro blogging site Twitter was abuzz with messages praying for the speedy recovery of the singer. Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar and director Shekhar Kapur prayed for his well-being.

Telangana decision in 3 months

Hyderabad, September 25: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday announced that the Centre would announce its decision on separate Telangana in the next two to three months.

Addressing a gathering of Congress workers at Camp Office, the Chief Minister said that the Centre was fully aware of the Telangana demand and also the sentiments.

He said the on-going agitation was causing inconvenience to the general public, he requested the pro-Telangana groups to withdraw the general strike and wait for the Centre’s decision.

I didn’t cheat anyone, says SRK

Mumbai, September 24: IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan said he had no clue about the allegations levelled against him by retired Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who had claimed that he should never have listened to the Bollywood star while joining the IPL.

Shoaib, in his autobiography ‘Controversially Yours’, has claimed that he was betrayed by the then IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi as he made him agree to joining KKR for money, which was less than what he was offered in the now-defunct ICL.

Saif-Kareena wedding delayed

Mumbai, september 24: The marriage plans of chote nawab Saif Ali Khan and Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor have been put on hold after the demise of the actor’s father – Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi.

Apparently, Saif and Kareena were supposed to marry in mid-February 2012. Talking to a daily, a source said, “The official mourning period of the family is six months, but the family won`t celebrate for the next one year. The plans were already put on hold and we were looking at a date later next year because we expected Nawabsaheb to get better. But tragedy has struck.”

Shoaib was a problem and remains a problem: Akram

Mumbai, September 24: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Saturday ridiculed Shoaib Akhtar and his controversial autobiography, which has made several tall claims, saying that the pacer was a “problem” when he was an active player and remains just that even in retirement.

Akram pooh-poohed Shoaib`s claims of making Sachin Tendulkar uncomfortable with his pace in the Faisalabad Test in 2006 and also rejected some of the other allegations he has made in the book titled `Controversially Yours`.

7,100 vacancies expected in Adarsh Schools

Hyderabad, September 24: Govt. of A.P. has decided to start 355 ‘Adarsh Schools’ on the patterns of Navodaya Vidyalayas and central schools from the next academic year.

Admission in these schools will be given in sixth, 7th, 8th and 1st year of intermediate classes.
The officials of school education Department have started preparations for the recruitment of 355 principals,4,260 P.G. teachers and 2,485 T.G. teacher in regular scales.

Managing Committee of Unani Confernce deplored reduction of seats in Nizamia Tibbi College

Hyderabad, September 24: A meeting of the Managing Committee of All India Tibbi Conference, A.P. Branch was held under the chairmanship of its president Hakeem Ghulam Yazdani Khan. The committee deplored the reduction of 15 seats in BUMS course of Nizamia Tibbi College Hyderabad and for cancellation of admissions on 50 seats of Dr. Abdul Haque Unani Medical College, Kurnool this year.

C.M. shouldn’t make Group-I exam a Prestige issue

Hyderabad, September 24: Minister for Infrastructure Mr. Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy told that Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is taking conducting of Group-I examination as a prestige issue. RTC employees are on strike, Auto rickshaws and trains are also not available during “bandh’ on 25th September. In such a case how is it possible for the candidates to reach the examination centers for writing Group-I exams? Only C.M. can explain it.

RTC incurred a loss of Rs. 44 Crores due to strike

Hyderabad, September 24: Mr. Prasada Rao, Managing Director of RTC said that on account of RTC employees’ strike in support of separate Telangana state, RTC incurred a loss of Rs. 44 Crore. He further said that during 48 hours ‘bandh’ it is not possible to make alternate arrangements.

Mr. B. Satyanarayana, Transport Minister once again will hold talks with RTC employees today. He said that despite strike, 365 busses were operated yesterday. He appealed to RTC employees that in view of the inconvenience causing to the public, they should withdraw from the strike.

Income limit for scholarship of SC and ST students raised

Hyderabad, September 24: The income limit of the parents of the students belonging to SC’s and ST’s for getting scholarships has been increased from Rupee One Lakh to Rupees Two Lakh.

Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of A.P. has taken this decision to fulfill the demand of the SC and ST organizations.
