India for zero tolerance towards corruption: Prez

New Delhi, September 28: India is committed to greater transparency and accountability in governance as also to the policy of “zero tolerance” towards corruption, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil said on Wednesday.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi who termed corruption as a “moral failure”, the President said legislation alone would not be enough to combat the menace but also requires looking at individual behaviour as well as societal norms through mediums of education, creation of awareness and moral regeneration.

Khushboo, 27, who was widowed recently, has vowed to continue wearing her bridal attire till justice is done. Hyderabad, September 28: Secretary Minority Welfare Department Mr. Mohammad Ali Rafath visited Hajj house on Tuesday and reviewed the arrangements made by the Hajj committee for Hajj aspirants. He inspected all the sections of the Hajj camp especially passport centre and accommodations provided to the Hajj aspirants. He directed the authorities of the committee to take preventive measures to save Hajj aspirants from any eventuality.

Deccan Waqf Protection Cell to organise 1-day hunger strike

Hyderabad, September 28: It has been decided by Deccan Waqf Protection Cell to organise one day hunger fast on Thursday, September 29 demanding immediate formation of separate Telangana state. Mr. Osman Alhajari president protection cell has told that by organizing a one day hunger fast on Thursday, September 29 near Badi masjid Jhirra immediate formation of Telangana will be demanded by the central government. Representatives of various JACs will attend the hunger fast. He told that the hunger fast is being organized to express solidarity with government employees.

ISB Dean is the Global B-School Rep from India

Hyderabad, September 28: The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), an association of global graduate business schools, has appointed the Dean of Indian School of Business (ISB) Ajit Rangnekar as a member of its board of directors on Tuesday.

Hyderabad, September 28: To clear the extra rush of passengers during Brahmotsavams, the South Central Railway will run six special trains between Secunderabad and Tirupati.

Train No.07145 special will leave Secunderabad on Sept 29, Oct 4 and 6 at 23.00 hours and reach Tirupati at 12.00 hours the next day.

The 07146 special will depart from Tirupati on Sept 30, Oct 5 and 7 at 20.00 hours and arrive at Secunderabad at 09.10 hours the next day.

Man held for hoax bomb threat

Hyderabad, September 28: The police apprehended a hoax caller who threatened to blast three temples located in three different places in the city on Monday.

According to sources, the accused Moin Hussain of Old City made several phone calls to police control room in the last two days in the name of an activist of Indian Mujahideen and said that he will carry out blasts at Birla temple, ISKCON temple and Bhagya Lakshmi temple at the base of Charminar.

Hyderabad, September 28: The ongoing Telangana Sakala Janula Samme has cast a shadow over the Dasara festival and has skewed travel plans of several people in the twin cities. While some had to cancel their planned trips to their native places altogether, others had to shell out more than the usual fare.

Said P Parameshwarudu, a high school teacher and a resident of Mehdipatnam, “I have cancelled my Dasara trip to Nellore due to the RTC strike. I wanted to go with my family. If I were alone, I could have gone somehow but with children, it is impossible.”

At least 16 die in blast at Pakistani mine

Islamabad, September 28: At least 16 people were killed in a massive explosion at a marble mine in Pakistan’s northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, media reports said Tuesday.

The deafening blast took place late Monday night at the marble mine in the Bhuhama area of Buner, a mountainous district lying some 110 km northwest of the country’s capital Islamabad, reported Xinhua citing media reports.

The exact reason for the explosion was being probed.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed condolence over the deaths in the mine explosion.

Telangana protesters torch buses, railway counter

Hyderabad, September 28 : The ongoing movement for a separate Telangana state appears to be taking a violent turn with suspected protesters allegedly setting afire two private buses and the booking counter of a railway station in separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh, police said.

One Volvo bus was completely destroyed after it was torched by unidentified people around 1.00 am on Wednesday near Jamia Osmania railway station here, they said.

The vehicle belonging to a private operator used to carry employees of a software company, the bus driver said.
