Find immediate solution to farmers’ problems: BJP to CM

Hyderabad, August 28: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreyya on Sunday demanded that the government supply fertilizes directly to the farmers instead of giving dealerships to private parties.

Talking to media persons at State BJP headquarters, Dattatreyya said as per the policy decision, the government agencies are distributing 50 percent of fertilizers directly to farmers and the remaining 50 percent though private agencies and dealers. However, the private dealers and agencies, are selling fertilizers in the black market by increasing prices, he alleged.

Kadapa zone to get 400 new buses

Kadapa, August 29: The Kadapa Zone of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation will receive 400 new buses by the end of this year.

This was stated by RTC’s Kadapa Zone Executive Director Koteswara Rao while addressing a press conference after a review meeting convened with Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur district officials here on Sunday. He said the RTC has decided to replace 400 old buses with the new one buses by the end of this fiscal.

Stating that the region has already got 200 new buses, he said the remaining 200 buses would join fleet by the end of this year.

Iran to build its first geothermal plant

Tehran, August 29: Iran will build its first geothermal power plant in the northwestern part of the country.

The five-megawatt plant will be built in Meshkin-Shahr town. The wells have been drilled, the ISNA news agency reported Sunday.

Geothermal plants convert heat from earth to electricity. The energy is accessed by drilling water or steam wells in a process similar to drilling for oil.

They use components like other standard power generating plants such as turbines, generators, and transformers.

kashmir stone throwers gets Amnesty

Srinagar, August 29 :AS a goodwill gesture before Eid-ul-Fitr, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday announced a one-time amnesty for around 1,200 youths arrested for stone throwing during the 2010 summer unrest in the Valley. “Children make mistakes and as adults we have to forgive them,” Abdullah told reporters here.

“It is our responsibility to tell them we are ready to forgive them, but that they should not repeat these mistakes.”

Planet made of Diamond discovered

London,August 29:Astronomers have spotted an exotic planet that seems to be made of diamond racing around a tiny star in our galactic backyard.

The new planet is far denser than any other known so far and consists largely of carbon. Because it is so dense, scientists calculate the carbon must be crystalline, so a large part of this strange world will effectively be diamond.

Bike borne stone pelters attack police

Srinagar,August 29 :Over 300 motorcycle-borne stone pelters attacked a police station in this Jammu and Kashmir summer capital, injuring six policemen. Over 70 attackers were arrested and 10 bikes were seized during the clashes, which lasted for five hours, police said Sunday.

As Muslims throughout the Kashmir Valley prayed in mosques to observe ‘Shab-e-Qadr’ — the holiest night according to the Muslim calendar — the stone pelters attacked a police station Saturday night, trying to re-enact the unrest witnessed here last year.

Medina, August 28: Muslims around the world can soon access the Prophet’s Mosque in Saudi Arabia and get vital information related to it through e-gate services being developed by the Prophet’s Mosque Affairs Agency, newspapers said on Sunday.

They quoted Abdul Aziz Bin Ali Al-Ayoubi, Head of the Computer Section at the Agency as saying pilgrims using the e-gate can get detailed information and addresses of housing units allotted to them before embarking on their journey to the Prophet’s Mosque in the western town of Medina.

Husband kills wife after minor quarrel

Hyderabad, August 28: A man killed his wife due to family disputes. The incident occurred under Ghatkesar police station limits where 48 year old Sharda resident of Christian colony died during her husband’s attack. Expert of Iqbal studies Prof Ghulam Omer Khan died

Hyderabad, August 28:Dr. Ghulam Omer Khan (89) died in the early hours yesterday. He was an expert on Iqbal studies. He authored three important books on Iqbal. He served as Head of the Dept. of Urdu and Professor of Iqbal Studies in Osmania University.

He was buried after Asar prayer in the Muslim graveyard of Champapet. His daughter Dr. Atia Sultana is Professor of Urdu at Osmania University.

Minorities Finance Corporation is limited to disbursement of Scholarships only

Hyderabad August 28: As per the report of the bankers’ meeting, not a single rupee has been spent on sanction of loans to Minorities eventhough Rs. 12.55 crore were earnmarked for 2011-12.

A sum of Rs. 11, 815.29 crore is the liability on the Muslim borrowers which has to be collected. As per the R.B.I. guidelines, Rs. 986.45 crore have to be released by the banks as the share of loans to be given to Minorities which works out to 15% of the total loans to be sanctioned by the bank.

CM’s decision to pay compensation to Muslim youth welcomed

Hyderabad, August 28: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Mr. M A Khan welcoming chief minister’s decision of payment of compensation to acquitted Muslim youth in Makkah Masjid blasts demanded that the payment be made during the month of Ramadan. Washington, August 28: Hurricane Irene has begun to hammer New York City in the United States, with the city’s mayor warning of a grave danger and a rapid deterioration of conditions.

“Conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly,” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg told a news conference as the massive hurricane Irene began to hit the city late on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Anna Hazare ends fast; says fight for change has begun

New Delhi, August 28: Anna Hazare has ended his 13-day long fast, after the Parliament cleared his three demands late last evening.

He broke the fast with coconut water and honey.

He said “stay away from the media”.

“This the victory of the people of India. All the efforts that you have put in in the last 13 days, have born fruit. I would like to thank the media for helping this victory happen. I thank those who continously cared for my health. I want to thank the members of the civil society,” he said.

“It is a victory of every India.”
