Pak man caught raping a 13-year-old girl

Riyadh, August 13: Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested a Pakistani man after catching him raping a screaming 13-year-old Nigerian girl inside his car under the cover of night.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice were on a routine night patrol in the western town of Makkah when they heard a girl screaming inside a car at a deserted area.

“When they came close to the car, they found a 33-year-old Pakistani man raping the Nigerian girl…they caught him red-handed,” Sabq newspaper said.

Technician dies in blast at IDL

Hyderabad, August 13: One person died of severe burns in a chemical blast that occurred in one of the units of IDL factory located in the Kukatpally industrial area.

B Janardhan (57) was a technician in the IDL unit that manufactures detonators.

“The blast took place at 1.30 p.m where no one except Janardhan is allowed to enter,” Kukatpally SI S Pradeep told Express.

Gujarat IPS officer chargesheeted for misconduct

New Delhi, August 13: Gujarat IPS officer Rahul Sharma was chargesheeted for indiscipline on Saturday. He was chargesheeted for misconduct in taking away CDs from the 2002 riots case papers. The chargesheet came a day after Home Mininister P Chidambaram said that the Centre is willing to intervene in the IPS officers versus Gujarat Government fight.

Sharma’s lawyer Mukul Sinha said, “This is shocking, we are studying the chargesheet. They have targeted any person who has spoken the truth about the riots.”

9 troops died in two days in Afghanistan

Kabul, August 13: Insurgent attacks have killed nine NATO service members in the past two days in Afghanistan, where the US-led coalition is mourning the deaths of 30 American troops and eight Afghans in a helicopter crash last week, military officials said on Friday.

The Aug. 6 crash was the single deadliest loss for U.S. forces in the nearly decade-long war.

TRS leaders appears before Delhi Police

New Delhi, August 13: Four TRS leaders, including party chief K Chandrasekar’s son K T Ramarao, today appeared before Delhi Police in connection with an attack on an official of the Andhra Pradesh Bhawan last month.

No permission for fast yet, Team Anna upset

New Delhi, August 13: Another round of confrontation between the government and Team Anna seems to be taking shape as sources have told that the Delhi police have asked for an undertaking that he will not fast for more than three days, and will give him a venue only after that.

Team Anna, however, had requested for a permission to fast for 30 days and is unhappy with the police’s decision.

“It is unfortunate that they still cannot grant us a place to protest. We have been asking for a place for months,” Arvind Kejriwal said.

Hasan Ali Khan leads the list of top ten tax defaulters for 2008-09

New Delhi, August 13: Stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan leads the list of top ten income tax defaulters in financial year 2008-09 in the country, who together owe more than Rs 80,000 crores in taxes, the government said in Parliament today.

The businessman owes Rs 50,345.73 crore in taxes for income tax assessment year 2009-10. He and his associates will now have to pay the government Rs 89,000 crore, including the penalties, according to the details furnished by government in the Lok Sabha.

Murder case against 5 cops

Hyderabad, August 13: Tou ghening its stand against extrajudicial killings by trigger-happy cops, the AP High Court on Friday delivered a verdict with a directive to book murder case against five police personnel, including a sub-inspector, involved in the encounter killing of a dacoit in 2010.

The court directed Nuzvid DSP K Sambaiah to register criminal cases under Section 302 of IPC against then Penamalur SI G V Vinaya Mohan, now working in I town police station in Vijayawada, and four constables.

Girls to receive arms training to counter militants

Jammu, August 13: The Indian Army officials in Rajouri district imparted arms training to girls with an aim to combat militancy in Jammu & Kashmir.

Girls in Rajouri district were trained to use the weapons by the army personnel of the paramilitary 63 Rashtriya Rifles. The aim of the training is to curb the rising militancy in the state.

Young girls, who generally live in a protected environment, came forward to learn the usage of weapons, which they could use in self-defence.
