London, August 16: Youngsters are turning ‘skin hungry’ as networking online leaves them feeling as lonely as the elderly, a study has found.

Having an average of 243 Facebook friends, teenagers are spending so much time on the internet that they have little time to move out with friends, Daily Mail reported the study as stating.

Commissioned by Yours magazine, the study included people aged between 18 and 80, it found that over a third of people spend more time chatting online than going out with friends.

Dubai, August 16: UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be honoured Tuesday with Islamic Personality of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) in its 15th edition.

The award will be given in recognition of his huge efforts in service of Islam, Muslims and humanity worldwide.

Ibrahim Mohammed Bumelha, chairman of the organising committee of DIHQA, disclosed it Sunday, adding that all were pleased with the election of the UAE President as the Islamic Personality because he deserved the title.

Hyderabad, August 16: Facing the heat over the probe into his alleged illegal wealth, Jaganmohan Reddy hit out at the Congress and said that his father’s legacy is being tarnished and that the Centre has unleashed a witch hunt against him.

Speaking to a news channel on Monday, Jagan – dubbed as India’s richest MP- said that he is helpless, alone and young and is being targeted for resigning from the party. “I was shown I-T notices after the death of my father,” rued Jagan.

Hyderabad, August 16: A large number of VIPs attended the ceremonial “At Home” hosted by Andhra Pradesh Governor Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan here on Monday evening on the occasion of Independence Day.

Those who attended the “At Home” include the Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Damodar Rajanarasimha, Legislative Council chairman Dr. A. Chakrapani and Assembly Speaker Mr. N. Manohar.

Islamabad, August 16:Chinese authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle around 560 kg of heroin through the Pakistan border into China, a media report said.

The heroin was found concealed in rice containers at the Sost land port in Gilgit-Baltistan, and China reported the matter to the Pakistani customs department, sources told Dawn News.

The report, however, did not mention when the incident took place.

But these “engineered” riots are seen to have a hidden agenda, are much more violent, continue longer and lead to extensive loss of life and property.

According to police, A Lakshmi from Nellore, fell in love with her colleague Harshavardhan (25), while pursuing her MBBS. Both of them got married nine months ago. Harshavardhan is from Chandragiri in Chittoor.

Moscow, August 15: Describing nuclear arms as “inhuman weapons” of the past century, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday said his country will never seek atomic arsenal which is a waste of money.

“Never, never. We do not want nuclear weapons. We do not seek nuclear weapons. This is an inhuman weapon,” Ahmadinejad said in an interview to English language Russia Today channel.

Jammu, August 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday reiterated that his government would continue its efforts as a facilitator to help consistent internal and external dialogue processes to move forward positively. Endeavours made by the government during the last two and a half years had yielded encouraging results.

New Delhi, August 15: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday vowed to uproot corruption from the State at all levels and extended support to social activist Anna Hazare in his fight for the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Addressing students after paying tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at his memorial at Vallabh Vidyanagar near Nadiad, Mr. Modi said the people had entrusted him the task of “cleaning up” the State and he would “perform his duty” faithfully and to the best of his ability.

Mumbai, August 15: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has described Bollywood veteran Shammi Kapoor, who passed away yesterday, as a “powerful” and “versatile” actor.

In a condolence message, Thackeray said Shammi’s exuberant cry “Yahoo” is unforgettable and will remain etched in memory.

He said he wanted to meet Shammi on learning about his ill-health. “Somehow I could not go,” Thackeray lamented and recalled his fond and close association with the Kapoor family.

Hyderabad, August 15:Police prevented Congress MPs belonging to Andhra Pradesh’s Telangana region from hoisting the national flag at the Telangana martyrs’ memorial here on Independence Day Monday.

The MPs, state legislators and other leaders paid tributes at Gun Park, in front of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly building, to people who laid down their lives for a separate Telangana state. They wanted to unfurl the national flag and also the flag of Telangana, but police prevented them from doing so.

New Delhi, August 15:Gandhian Anna Hazare and his supporters have been denied permission to go on fast here Tuesday as they had not agreed to certain conditions, Delhi Police said Monday.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sudhir Yadav said that if Team Hazare went ahead with its protest at the JP Park in the heart of the city, it would be deemed an unlawful gathering.

“We have denied (them permission),” Yadav told reporters, only hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked people not to resort to hunger strikes in their campaign against corruption.

Mumbai, August 15: Katrina Kaif`s decision to do two Yash Raj Films (YRF) with the warring Khans – Salman and Shah Rukh – has raised eyebrows, but the actress is unperturbed and argues there are no camps in Bollywood.

Katrina is set to start shooting with Salman Khan for “Ek Tha Tiger” next week and her film with Shah Rukh, which is veteran direcor Yash Chopra`s untitled venture, is expected to go on floors in a few months` time.

London, August 15: The reason for their split is still unknown, but Jennifer Lopez`s commitment to Scientology was reportedly a bone of contention between the Hollywood actress and her husband, Marc Anthony.

Lopez, 42 – who called off her seven-year marriage to Anthony last month – was hoping to send the couple`s three-year-old twins Max and Emme to a specialist Scientology school.

But Anthony, also 42, wasn`t so keen on the idea, reported Daily Mail.
