Islamabad, August 24: A British Pakistani woman, who is a black belt in karate, was detained at Rawalpindi airport after she had a brawl with security staff who did not allow her to check-in 89 cigarette cartons.

Zakia Bibi, travelling to Manchester, became angry when she was told she could not take the cigarette cartons out of the country.

She pounced on a security staff and then attacked two others, the Dawn quoted airport sources as saying.

The woman was arrested, but not before her `karate skills’ caused panic.

CCTV footage showed her slapping a female security staff.

New Delhi, August 24: A broad-based consultation among Muslim organisations was held yesterday at the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat (AIMMM) Central Office to discuss and formulate the Muslim community’s stand on the Lokpal issue. The meeting, chaired by AIMMM President Syed Shahabuddin, was attended by representatives of Jamaat-e Islami Hind, Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadees, All India Milli Council, Welfare Party of India, Muslim Political Council, Students Islamic Organisation and Lok Janshakti Party. A representative of the CPI(M) also took part as a special invitee.

Rome, August 24: Vatican’s office of interreligious dialogue has called Christians and Muslims as spiritually very close to each other. The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue which issued this letter to all Muslims lists important challenges that two of the largest faith-based communities face and ask for cooperation for the common good.

Lucknow, August 24: The Royal Family of Awadh has extended its support to Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement. And have decided not to celebrate Eid as a mark of their protest this year.

General secretary Royal Family of Awadh (RFA) Sikoh Azad on Tuesday said, “Nearly 20,000 RFA members will not celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr to express solidarity to Anna Hazare’s crusade against graft.” He added that members of the royal family would go to Delhi to take part in Hazare’s campaign. Regarding Jan Lokpal Bill, Azad said that Jan Lokpal Bill will help in bringing a change for the royal families.

Riyadh, August 24: Skeletons surfacing on the ground in a remote Saudi cemetery as if they are forcing their way out of their graves are sending shivers across a tiny village in the Gulf Kingdom.

Although it is a macabre scene, the villagers do not appear to be superstitious as they believe the bones are dug out by stray animals and soil erosion.

“The villagers have expressed resentment at what is happening inside that graveyard…they have appealed for authorities to act but have received no response,” Sabq daily said in a report from the western town of Qunfuda.

New Delhi, August 24: Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh declared the international Quran campaign led by Peer Syed Shabbir Naqshbandi, which continues for the past 21 years, as the need of the hour and said that the message of the Holy Quran is the guiding path for the entire humanity. During a conversation with Peer Shabbir Naqshbandi during a meeting at New Delhi he revealed that he reads Urdu translation of the Holy Quran atleast in the month of Ramadan.

Kozhikode, August 24: The first Indian Hajj flight of this year will fly from the Karippur International Airport in Malappuram on September 29. The Saudi Airlines flights will take pilgrims to Jeddah via Madeena.

More than 7000 pilgrims are going for the Hajj from Kerala this year under the Hajj Committee. Karippur is the embarkation point for pilgrims from Pondicherry, Mahe and Lakshadweep also, besides Kerala.

Mumbai, August 24: Mumbai: Salman Khan has once again flexed his muscles, thereby showing his might to arch rival Shah Rukh Khan, by not sharing screen space with the latter’s film trailer with his upcoming Eid release ‘Bodyguard.’ Instead, the hunk of an actor has accommodated Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ trailer.

Apparently, Reliance’s plans of releasing SRK starrer ‘Don 2’ trailer with Salman’s ‘Bodyguard’ have gone for a toss as the ‘Dabangg’ actor bluntly refused to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan.

Mumbai, August 24: The cold war between Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan shows no signs of thawing. The two are well known for taking potshots at each other, especially when either of their films is up for release.

Now, the rivalry has been taken up a notch.

Aamir Khan has apparently refused to be a part of UTV Star’s show Live My Life, which tracks a celeb’s life for a day, simply because it is being produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment!

Mumbai, August 24: The actress will be appearing in Simi Garewal’s chat show soon and she requested that the family segment of the show be shot with Farah and Kabir, instead of her mother and sisters.

Her reason is that since her folks are in UK, she turns to Farah and Kabir during crises.

Hyderabad, August 24: NIMS Cardiologist Dr. Ramesh has been bestowed with Best Case award during a conference here for an extra ordinary case. The case for which has been given conferred with the award was a chronic case of liver failure of a patient. Dr. Ramesh took the case and treated the patient following which the condition of the patient became stable. Panel of judges during the conference recognized the case as unique of its kind and unanimously selected him for the award.

The Faaltu actor has been spotted quite often in the company of TV and theatre actor Karishma Tanna, who is currently seen in two shows – India’s Magic Star and Meethi Chhuri.

A common friend reveals, “Jackky and Karishma met through common friends a few months ago and hit it off very well.

They started dating in April. They hang out together quite often and can be spotted at Trilogy pub every now and then.

Hyderabad, August 24: As part of the national campaign against corruption by 9 various political parties including TDP, CPIM and CPI, a large scale dharna was organized near Indira park Hyderabad which continued for more than 2 and a half hours. Thousands of activists of TDP, CPI, CPIM and other parties participated in the dharna. Leaders addressing the gathering demanded that government sanction Lokpal bill to curb corruption and also include prime minister under the purview of Lokpal bill.

Hyderabad, August 24: Awad Yafai and his two brothers who were shot by Akberuddin’s Gunmen get bail after a long drawn legal battle of 100 days. Awad was shot in the stomach he had been admitted in Yashoda Hospital for 30 days.

The judge asked the cop that why they have not booked Md. Jaani gunman of MIM Malakpet MLA Balala.

Ibrahim Yafai who was killed by the gunman got two wounds one in the heart and another in the back which was shot by Md. Jani, the heart bullet injury still a mystery.

Mumbai, August 24: Fed up of being tortured by her father, an 18-year-old girl left her home to seek shelter with a classmate. But the latter connived with her husband who then raped her.

The couple blackmailed her with a sordid video of the act, convinced her to go to Delhi for a job, where two men raped her again. That is when Zubeida (name changed) realised she was being forced into prostitution.

Hyderabad, August 24: A woman Rehana Begum of BHEL arrived at Charminar for shopping two days ago when her gold jewellery was stolen near Gulzarhouz. Complaint was lodged at the police and by God’s grace police immediately came into action and police in plain clothes arrested two burqa clad women and recovered 8 gram gold chain from their possession. The duo was mother and daughter. The culprits Shahida and Shameem Begum are convicted criminals.

Hyderabad, August 24: Mr. Harish Rao, MLA of TRS demanded the TDP Chief Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu to move the ‘No Confidence Motion’ in the A.P. Assembly against the Congress Govt. Mr. Naidu had said earlier that in case YSR Congress M.L.A.’s tender their resignations, the TDP would move ‘No Confidence Motion’ against the Govt. If Mr. Naidu is serious about his earlier statement, he should move this motion. Mr. Harish Rao said that MR. Naidu should not try to save the Congress Govt.

Rag picker attacks woman

Hyderabad, August 24 (Siasat News): In a bizarre incident, a rag picker attacked a woman with a knife at Income Tax department situated at Banjara Hills that sent shock waves in the department.

As per the details, 25-year-old youth used to shift the garbage. Today, he attacked the wife of senior account officer Parveen Kumar’s wife with a knife.

When she raised alarm, the youth got himself injured also. In the initial stages of the inquiry, it was revealed that the motto behind the attack was not money but honour.

New Delhi, August 24: Anna Hazare is awaiting a written assurance from the government on the Lokpal Bill issue before ending his indefinite fast which entered the ninth day as his team said that developments unfolding today (Aug 24) will be “crucial”.

Government and Team Anna held discussions for the first time last night and both sides agreed on a variety of issues leading to hopes of Hazare ending the fast.
