Hyderabad, August 25: As part of beautification of Moosa River, Hyderabad Development Authority has prepared a layout for the development of Uppal as a Model Township over an area of 828 acres. Layout has been prepared by dislodging the agriculturists who were growing only grass on this land. They will be compensated by allotting one thousand Sq. yards plots.

Anna fears removal, asks supporters to jail bharo

New Delhi, August 25: Fasting Anna Hazare on Wednesday asked his supporters not to stop police if they evicted him forcibly from the Ramlila ground where he has been on a hunger strike for the last nine days.

Qutub Shahi Mosque at Golconda turned into Godown

Hyderabad, August 25: A Qutub Shahi Mosque situated inside the Seven Tombs Area of Golconda Fort is being used as a godown for dumping cement bags.

The mosque is a Qutub Shahi architectural monument situated opposite the tomb of Abdullah Quli Qutub Shah near the entrance. This mosque was built in 1626. It is uninhabited and hence insecure. It is under the supervision of the Central Archaeological Dept. Cement bags and other materials are dumped in the premises of this mosque.

Shiv Sena chief calls on Hazare to end his fast

Qaddafi wanted: Dead or alive

Tripoli, August 25:  Libya’s new masters offered a million-dollar bounty for the fugitive Muammar Qaddafi on Wednesday, after he urged his men to carry on a battle that kept the capital in a state of fear.

A day after rebel forces overran his Tripoli headquarters and trashed the symbols of his 42-year dictatorship, rocket and machinegun fire from pockets of loyalists kept the irregular fighters at bay as they tried to hunt down Qaddafi and his sons.

Posts of about 96,000 teachers sanctioned in MP

Bhopal, August 25 (Pervez Bari): About 96,000 posts of school teachers have been sanctioned in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled state.

Giving a fresh impetus to the efforts for improvement in quality of education and its universalisation, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today sanctioned 95,599 posts of teachers. This decision will entail a burden of Rs. 742.57 crore.

BJP leaders boycott PM’s Iftaar party

New Delhi, August 25: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday hosted Iftaar Party in which besides Vice president Hamed Ansari and Loksabha speaker Meera Kumar, various top leaders were present. While BJP leader Yashvanth Sinha, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Varun Gandhi boycotted the Iftaar party, expressing solidarity with Anna Hazare’s hunger fast.

Though senior leaders of BJP such as L K advani and Sushma Swaraj attended the Iftar party hosted at Prime minister’s residence at 7 Race Course, but other leaders were missing.

Man sleeping on pavement murdered

Hyderabad, August 25: A former government employee was murdered by unidentified persons at Budvel in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.

P Prakash (52) was a former attendant at AP Engineering Research Labs
He had taken voluntary retirement 15 years back due to poor health.
His wife got the job on compassionate grounds and she shifted to Ram Nagar with her two children. Prakash was living alone at Budvel.

Bail jumper tries his luck again for love

Hyderabad, August 25: He had an original Indian passport when he fled to Dubai and then to Abu Dhabi.

But when an Arab woman, with whom he fell in love, insisted that her family traditions demanded that she marry only an Arab, a love-struck Hadi obtained a fake passport under an Arab name, only to be arrested years later.

Hadi (39), who had earlier been arrested in the city for selling a firearm and ammunition to an alleged Lashkare- taiba militant Muhammed Nissar, had jumped bail in 2003 and fled the country.

Telangana minister threatens fast-unto-death

Hyderabad, August 25: A minister from Andhra Pradesh’s Telangana region Wednesday threatened to go on a fast-unto-death from Oct 1 to achieve a separate Telangana state.

Infrastructure and Investments Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy told reporters that if the central government failed to make an announcement to carve out separate Telangana state, he would launch the fast along with one lakh people in his native Nalgonda district.

2 women forced to marry in Indonesia

Banda Aceh, August 25: Islamic police in Indonesia’s Aceh province are stumped about how to handle a case of two women who married at the urging of neighbours concerned that one of the roomates was a man and therefore a couple living in sin.

5-yr-old girl raped in Sector 25

Chandigarh, August 25: A 5-year-old girl was raped near her house in Sector 25 on Tuesday evening. A case was registered at Sector-11 police station. The girl was taken to Government Multispeciality Hospital in Sector 16 where she is undergoing treatment. Nobody was arrested in this connection.

The girl’s father is a labourer and they reside in a shanty. Police said the girl was violated 100 metres from her house.

Degree student ends life at Langarhouz

Hyderabad, August 25: A degree student hanged himself to death at Langarhouz area. The incident occurred yesterday night when 19 year old Mohammad Naseer hanged himself to death at his relative’s residence where he used to stay. The deceased is said to be the son of Mohammad Shamsuddin resident of Agra, who stayed here with his relatives. He had taken admission into BSC agriculture I year in Agricultural University. Naseer felt uncomfortable in the university environment. Since he didn’t know Telugu he was facing difficulty in mingling with others.

26/11 case against ISI may harm US-Pak ties: Attorney

Washington, August 25: Warning that the case charging ISI and its chief with being involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks could have “disastrous consequences” for US-Pak ties, an American attorney representing them in a New York court has sought its dismissal.

“Asserting jurisdiction over Pakistan and it officials will further stress the relationship between Pakistan and the US, with potential disastrous consequences for the relationship and the region,” attorney Kevin J Wash told a New York court in a recent submission.

Hyderabad, August 25: On the request made by police Rainbazar, Husaini alam PS, Shalibanda PS, Saifabad PS, Mangalhat railway PS, Kachiguda PS, Malaket PS and Kalapathar PS to Mr. Amir Ali Khan News editor Siasat daily, Siasat administration obtained 8 unclaimed Muslim bodies and performed their burial at Kukatpally graveyard. Funeral prayer was also performed at the graveyard. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan commended Shaikh Abdul Aziz president administrative committee graveyard and Eidgah for taking part in the virtuous deed.

PG Courses counseling for four universities at Nizam college

Hyderabad, August 25: According to press note issued by Prof. T. Krishna Rao, Director of P.G. Admission, O.U. counseling for all postgraduate courses for admissions into the four universities in Telangana area, namely; Osmania, Telangana, Palamoor & Mahatma Gandhi Universities will start on 27th August 2011.

Venkat Reddy threatens to start fast unto death

Hyderabad, August 25: Mr. Komat Reddy Venkat Reddy, State Minister for Infrastructure & Investment who hails from Telangana threatened that he would start fast unto death on 1st October 2011 if Telangana is not formed by that time. He is the only Minister who is not attending to the official work after tendering resignation. He had boycotted the cabinet meeting last week.

‘CIA, NYPD spying on US Muslims’

New York, August 25: A report has unveiled that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is giving assistance to the New York Police Department (NYPD) to spy on American citizens, especially Muslims.

Since the September 11 attacks, with “unprecedented” help from the CIA, the NYPD “dispatched undercover officers, known as ‘rakers,’ into minority neighborhoods as part of a human mapping program,” an investigation by AP found.

This is while the CIA is banned from spying on US citizens.

Cell phone repairing led to murder

Hyderabad, August 25: A ghastly incident of murder occurred at Aljubail colony of Chandrayagutta, where 18 year old Iqbal was brutally stabbed to death. The killing incident occurred just on the matter of cell phone repairing created panic at Chandrayangutta area. It is said that Iqbal who was a welder by occupation had brought his friend’s cell phone to the shop for repairing however the shop owner after keeping the cell phone for so many days returned it saying that it cannot be repaired. On this both of them had heated argument and crowd gathered around them.

SC rejects Jagan’s plea against HC order

New Delhi, August 25: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea of former Congress leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy against the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s order asking the CBI to conduct a probe into his alleged disproportionate assets.

“There is no need to interfere with the order of the high court,” a bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari said.

Reddy, son of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, had earlier moved the apex court challenging the August 10 order of the High Court saying, it was not a “reasoned decision”.

‘Team Anna victim of Congress’ internal politics’

New Delhi, August 25: Senior ministers Kapil Sibal and P Chidambaram strongly opposed the talks between government and civil society representatives and jeopardised the negotiations over the contentious Lokpal bill, activist Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday, the 10th day of Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast.

“It is unfortunate that some elements in the government were trying to jeopardise the talks. We had reached (a) consensus,” Kejriwal told reporters, a day after parleys ended in a logjam.
