Hyderabad, August 27: In a very unfortunate incident, occurred at Chandrayangutta Barkas a man brutally killed his wife and mother in law and surrendered self. However police has denied reports of surrender. It is said that the incident occurred after iftaar. Auto driver Mohammad Tayyab stabbed his wife Ayesha Begum and mother in law Badar Begum to death. According to sources 50 year old Badar Begum had fallen victim to her son in law’s attack in an attempt to rescue her daughter.

Citing Anna’s agitation, woman kills self

Miraj, August 27: A 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in Miraj town of Sangli district in western Maharashtra as she was apparently upset over the government stand on the hunger strike by Anna Hazare.

Shubhangi Vinayak Karande, a married woman, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house in Miraj-wes area of the town this evening, police said.

The suicide note mentioned that “Hazare was on fast in Delhi against the corruption, but the government was not paying heed to it, and was not doing anything”, police said.

Additional Quota for Haj pilgrims is a humiliation – Only 5 seats given- Leaders meet Minister

Hyderabad, August 27: A delegation of Muslim leaders met Mr. Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed, MLC and Mr. Ahmedullah, Minister for Minorities Welfare and represented that the Central Haj Committee has allotted only five seats for the State Haj Committee Chairman as his discretionary quota.

It is a humiliation to the state Haj Committee. The delegation requested the Minister to represent the matter for the allotment of more quota for pilgrims to the Central Haj Committee.

150 prisoners dead in Tripoli ‘mass murder:’ Rebel chief

Tripoli, August 27: Forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi killed more than 150 prisoners in a “mass murder” as they fled the rebel takeover of Tripoli, a rebel military chief said on Friday. “There were instances of revenge in the last few hours before the fall of the regime,” said Abdel Nagib Mlegta, head of operations for the takeover of the capital.

“In Bab al-Aziziya there was a mass murder. They killed more than 150 prisoners. The guards did it before running away. They threw hand grenades at them,” he said, referring to Kadhafi’s fortified headquarters.

No mercy, 3 Rajiv killers to hang on Sept 9

Chennai, August 27: The three men facing death penalty for the 1991 assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi will be hanged on September 9 at Tamil Nadu’s Vellore prison, a jail official said on Friday.

Prison Superintendent R Arivudainambi on Friday afternoon received the official communication to carry out the execution of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan.

“We have informed the convicts about the date of hanging. The execution will be (carried out) September 9 early morning,” Arivudainambi said.

Day 12 of fast: Anna is weak, his blood pressure dips

New Delhi, August 27: Activist Anna Hazare feels “weak and stressed” as his fast for a strong anti-corruption bill entered the 12th day on Saturday, said a doctor monitoring his health. “Anna Hazare has lost seven kg and he is feeling weak and tired,” a doctor, pleading anonymity, told IANS.

“Although his vital parameters are stable at present, he should end his fast as soon as possible as his health is deteriorating. His complexion shows his health condition – he has turned dark due to dehydration,” he added.

Emergency declared in New York as Hurricane Irene closes in

New York, August 27: A state of emergency has been declared in New York as the US East Coast geared up for hurricane Irene which is expected to make its first landfall over the weekend and dump about 15 inches of rain in the area.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said measures were being put in place in preparation for the potential impact of the hurricane and state and local agencies are working on emergency response efforts.

New York became the latest state to declare emergency after Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland and North Carolina began implementing measures to tackle the massive storm.

Insurgent group says rebels killed Kashmir cleric

A key insurgent group says rebels and not Indian forces assassinated a prominent Muslim leader in Indian-ruled Kashmir in April.
Lashkar-e-Taiba said Thursday it initially thought Indian forces and institutions had killed Moulvi Showkat Ahmed Shah to weaken rebel groups in the disputed territory.

But the report said, “We had no idea that the killers would be within us.”

Shah headed the Jamiat-e-ahle Hadi religious group, and state police blamed his murder on factional rivalry.
