New Delhi, August 01:Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said today his ministry looked at implementing the Sachar committee recommendations as its top priority despite the fact that there were some “flaws” in the report.

The minister, who had recently invited criticism for his comments that the Sachar report “was not the Quran” and needs to be looked at with a critical eye, said his ministry was committed to put into effect all the “positive” aspects of the report as they were for the larger good.

New Delhi, August 01:A 59-year-old man was arrested along with his minor son for beating a neighbour over a dispute here, police said Monday.

Mohan Lal, a resident of Khalsa Nagar in central Delhi, was arrested near his home Sunday on charges of killing 35-year-old Meena, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Kishore.

Police are looking for the other two sons of Mohan Lal.

Hyderabad, August 01:The Muslim holy month of fasting Ramzan began in Hyderabad and the rest of Andhra Pradesh with the sighting of the moon Monday.

Ruwait-e-Hilal or moon sighting committee announced that the moon has been sighted and Tuesday will be the first day of fasting.

With the committee confirming sighting of moon, announcements were made and sirens were blared from the mosques across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. People were seen congratulating each other on the occasion.

Warangal, August 01: The TRS senior leader, Mr T Harish Rao, has said that the proposed General Strike would be successful.

Talking to the media here on Monday, Mr Harish Rao said the government should take full responsibility for all the consequences for holding written test for recruitment of sub-inspectors without removing the controversial Clause 14-F from the Presidential Order.

New Delhi, August 01: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was still a part of the probe into the July 13 Mumbai serial blasts, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said Monday, dismissing reports that India’s premier anti-terror probe body had called back its team following a rift with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra.

“(The) ATS Mumbai is the lead investigation agency (into the triple bombings) but the NIA is still associated (with the investigation),” Chidambaram told reporters here.

Lucknow, August 01: A woman in Thakurganj area here plotted her husband’s murder along with his cousin to carry on her illicit affair with him, police said. The accused are in police custody now.

Rajendra Kumar (40), a fruit trader, was attacked by two motorcycle-borne youths on Tuesday who slit his throat, following which he died, they said.

Hyderabad, August 01: While the authorities of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation started demolishing unauthorized buildings in the Ayyappa Housing Society in Madapur on the directives of the High Court, the Telangana Jagriti chief, Ms Kalwakuntla Kavita, on Monday squatted before the house of the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s brother demanding that the authorities demolish the illegal structures of the VIPs first before touching the abodes of middle class families.

Women in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s most conservative societies, still have to buy their intimate clothing from male clerks, despite several petitions and two government decrees ordering businesses to hire women.

New Delhi, August 01: The Telangana MPs belonging to Congress and TRS parties, who had resigned in pursuance of their demand for separate Telangana state, abstained from attending parliament on the opening day of the monsoon session on Monday.

It might be mentioned here that 10 members from Congress and two from TRS have submitted their resignations from Lok Sabha and one Congress member Dr. K. Kesava Rao had resigned from Rajya Sabha.

Hyderabad, August 01: Jamaat-e-Islami-e-Hind has performed its duty (Farz-e-Kifayah) by publishing the Quran in 16 Indian languages. Had it not been done, we would have been answerable to Allah, the Almighty. Jamaat-e-Islami functioned for the establishment of Islam which is its motto. It presented Islamic message before the other non-Muslim brethren living in India. Reformation work was done among the Muslim youths, teachers and others.

Anantapur, August 01: In a shocking incident, a 10-day -old girl was buried alive by her own parents. The incident happened in Kamarlapalle village of Kalyanadurgam mandal on Friday and came to light on Saturday, when the cowherds found the baby alive. They shifted her to Kalyanadurgam RDT hospital with help of 108 services.

The baby girl was identified as the daughter of Latha (23) and Shekar (26) of Yenumala Dodi village in Kundurthi mandal. The couple, who married a year ago and the baby girl was born with a cleft lip.

Adulterated ghee, four arrested

Hyderabad, August 1 (Siasat News): Commissioner task force has arrested four traders Mahavir jain, Amit Kumar, Ratanlal and Mohanlal for adulterating Vijaya Ghee, a brand name in ghee business, and seized huge quantity of adulterated Vijaya ghee.

The arrested were involved in adulterated ghee business in Begum Bazaar and used to sell the ghee in 15 kg can pack and 1 kg polypack. They used to sell 15 kg pack for Rs. 3000 in Begum Bazar.

Hyderabad, August 01: A State-level vigilance committee would be formed for the protection of Wakf properties, Minister for Minority Welfare, Wakf and Urdu Academy Mohammad Ahmadullah said in Vijaywada while addressing a press conference July 30.

He also said that district wise review would be taken up to prevent encroachment and abuse of Wakf properties,

Mumbai, August 01: Priyanka Chopra in a grunge look and Bipasha Basu in a gypsy zippered dress will feature in a hip-hop number in Ganesh Hegde`s latest album ‘Lets Party`.
 
The song, ‘Mind Blowing’, took four days to shoot at a studio in Mumbai. Audiences will see the two leading ladies dancing to the song, which is sung, styled and choreographed by Hegde himself.

“Both Bipasha and Priyanka epitomise all the qualities I`m raving about in the song. I was with each of them for a day and shooting was a breeze,” Hegde said in a statement Sunday.

Mumbai, August 01: Family members of Salma (name changed), a 14 year-old girl from Mira Road, is a tense lot. They allege that in a perverse exchange offer of sorts, a Bangladeshi man named Shahjahan, has kidnapped and sold her off to the flesh trade, and has since been offering to return her, provided they replace her with another minor girl.

They also allege that the local police is cahoots with the criminals, which is why even after two months, Salma is still missing, and Shahjahan, absconding.
