Chairman’s Son arrested for ‘molesting’ minor

Mumbai, August 28: The 19-year-old son of the chairman of a school in Mira Road has been arrested for allegedly molesting a four-year-old student. The victim is a nursery student of Don Bosco School at Sai Plaza in Shanti Park.

On Thursday afternoon, the accused, Kamlesh Khicha, allegedly took the victim to a toilet on the school premises and molested her. Kamlesh is the son of the school’s chairperson Jitendra Khicha.

Jitendra was not available for comment. A person claiming to be Kamlesh’s uncle said Jitendra was in Surat and refused to talk about the arrest.

New Delhi, August 28: Popular Front of India (PFI) has become a new petitioner in the Babri Masjid case as the group has filed a Special Leave Petition before Supreme Court of India challenging the verdict of Allahabad High Court which has divided the Babri Masjid land into three parts with two-thirds for Hindus and one-third for Muslims.

Anna:I am Fakir ,150 MPS are criminals

New Delhi, August 28: As Parliament initiated a discussion on his three demands on Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare today trained his guns at MPs saying that around 150 of them were facing criminal charges and people should not elect “useless” lawmakers next time.

In his second address to supporters within two hours, the 74-year-old Gandhian said people expected a lot from the MPs but they did not live up to the expectations and that he would tour the country to appeal to people not to vote for them again.

My govt will protect Muslim intrests Jaya

Chennai,August 27 :Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa today assured the Islamic community that the AIADMK government would always be a protector of the people of the community.

“I want to give you the assurance that the AIADMK government would always protect the Islamic community people,” she told the gathering at an Ifatar party organised by her party here.

Recalling that when AIADMK orgnaised the Iftar party last year the DMK chief M Karunanidhi had dubbed it as an attempt to garner Muslim votes, she said everyone knew there was not an iota of truth in it.

New delhi,August 28 :Anna Hazare will end his 12-old-day fast at 10 am on Sunday after Parliament endorsed in principle three of his key demands to deal with corruption in a compromise between government and the Gandhian.

Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha went out of their way to discuss in a special sitting on Saturday an issue thrown up by the campaign of the 74-year-old activist who has been demanding enactment of Jan Lokpal for which he started a fast from August 16.

Anna being misled, Kiran Bedi eyeing polls: Lalu

New Delhi, August 27: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) member Lalu Prasad Saturday said fasting Anna Hazare was being misled by the people surrounding him, including former top cop Kiran Bedi who was eyeing polls.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during discussion on a suo motu statement by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Hazare’s demands related to the anti-graft Lokpal bill, Lalu Prasad appealed to MPs not to allow subversion of parliament as it will ring the death knell of democracy in the country.

‘We won’t allow the supremacy of parliament to be moved by an inch,’ he said.

Tamil Nadu Congress chief wants Rajiv killers hanged

Chennai, August 27: Tamil Nadu Congress Chief K.V. Thangkabalu Saturday said the law should take its course in former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case and the three persons sentenced to death should be hanged.

‘There should be no travesty of justice,’ he told IANS. ‘If the convicted are allowed to go without punishment, there will be utter anarchy in the country. One cannot allow people coming from anywhere and killing people here.’

Four killed, 22 injured in Afghan blast

Kabul, August 27: At least four people have been killed and 22 others injured after a bomber blew-up an explosives-laden car in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province, police say.

Kamaluddin Sherzad, the deputy police chief of Lashkar Gah, said that the explosion occurred “near Kabul Bank and the telecommunications office some 50 meters from the governor’s office,” AFP reported.

“Heavy casualties are feared,” the official said.

Sherzad said that the blast took place when “many people had gathered at Kabul Bank to collect their salaries ahead of the Eid festival.”

Wasington, August 27: The rest of the arrested people who have not committed any serious offences are to be kept behind bars for an unknown period of time. Human rights organizations have announced that the British government has decided to keep all arrested people in custody until trial.

The British Police have ordered Britain’s courts to refuse to bail the arrested even after they have been charged. The arrested people are to stay behind bars for a longer time as the British government has taken such an “iron fist” approach.

Anna must end fast: BJP

New Delhi, August 27: After clarifying that it would vote in both Houses of Parliament in favour of all the three sticking points raised by Anna Hazare, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday urged the 74-year-old activist to call off his fast.

Amid Team Anna’s claims that the BJP is not prepared to vote on a resolution on the Lokpal issue, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, advised Hazare’s aides not to jump to conclusions and confirming the facts with the party.

Talking to a news channel, Jaitley said rumours were being floated about the party.

‘Karachi handlers called attackers in Mumbai’

Lahore, August 27: A Pakistani court conducting the trial of seven suspects in the Mumbai attack case was on Saturday told by a prosecution witness that “handlers from Karachi” had made calls giving directions to the terrorists who had launched the 26/11 strike.

Forensic expert Nauman Ashraf Bodla, appearing as the prosecution witness of the Federal Investigation Agency, told the court that the handlers called from three numbers and gave directions to the Mumbai attackers during the siege.

Team Anna happy after govt agrees to voice vote

New Delhi, August 27: Team Anna have received a communication from the government that a resolution carrying their demands on Lokpal Bill will be put to a voice vote and they are now “very happy” with the development.

The development comes as a relief to may as there were fresh signs of a stalemate emerging after the government decided only to convey sense of House to Team Anna and not put the resolution for voting.

Women jailed for falsely accusing man of rape

London, August 27: Two British women, who accused a man of raping them, were jailed after he showed the police photos of them having a consensual sex at his home.

Jennifer France, 24, and friend Kelly Weston, 27, posed for saucy snaps on victim Enes Gozalan’s bed after meeting him in a local pub.

A court heard they later made the false allegation since both had long-term boyfriends and were ashamed of what they had done, Daily Mail reported.

Thiruvananthapuram, August 27: Starting September, everyone below the poverty line (BPL) in Kerala will get 25 kg of rice at Re.1 per kg, one of the main promises of the United Democratic Front’s election manifesto.

No act of terror since May 2009: Rajapaksa

Colombo, August 27: Stating that there has not been a single act of terrorism in the island since the war with the LTTE ended in May 2009, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced in Parliament his decision to lift emergency laws.

The President also told the Parliament that elections to the northern provincial council will be held next year, but did not mention any date.

US Catholic school cancels Muslim goodwill event

Cinncinnati, August 27: A Roman Catholic high school dropped plans for a Ramadan dinner after hearing complaints about its partnership with a Muslim advocacy group that federal officials have linked to a terror financing case.

Archbishop Dennis Schnurr received “emotionally charged” emails — mostly from outside the area — and asked the girls school to cancel plans to host the Friday night dinner, Kirsten MacDougal, president of Mother of Mercy school, told The Cincinnati Enquirer.The dinner to build goodwill with Muslims will be held instead at a church parish center.
