Telangana govt employees on a hunger strike today

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government employees in Telangana region will undertake a relay hunger strike in Hyderabad on Thursday in support of the demand for separate statehood to the region.

The relay hunger strike will be held at Indira Park from 10 am to 5 pm, the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers association and other unions said on Wednesday.

The Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee has already served a notice to the government that it would launch an indefinite general strike from August 17 primarily in support of the demand for creation of a separate state.

Woman found murdered at Tolichowki

Hyderabad, August 04: A 40-year-old housewife, was found dead at her residence in Jamikunta in Tolichowki under suspicious circumstances. Two tolas of gold and two cellphones are believed to be missing from the house as well.

Golconda inspector of police, Syed Jahangir told that both the victim Rita Devi and her husband, Gowri Shankar Shukla hailing from Bihar had been living in the city for the last 20 years. The couple ran a dairy business, and supplied milk to areas around them.

Pune, August 04:  A taxi driver’s urge to eat non-vegetarian food before the start of ‘Shravan’ (a holy month during which Hindus do not eat meat), led to the murder of a 12-year-old girl in Satara on July 29.

The Satara city police on Monday arrested 31-year-old Kishore alias Krishnanath Gaikwad, who strangulated Ankita Desai, 12, for not handing over her gold ornaments.

Shaik Mahaboob Ali DJS president passes away

Hyderabad, August 04 (Siasat News): After a prolonged illness, the founder of Darsgah-e-Shahadath, Mr. Shaik Mahboob Ali died yesterday. He was 83. He is survived by widow, three sons Shaik Khalid Saifullah, Advocate, Shaik Abdullah, Shaik Kaleemullah and three daughters.

Mr. Mahboob Ali hails from Bacharam Village of Medak District. He was a former employee of Govt. Printing press. He had taken voluntary retirement after 1984 communal riots and formed Dargah-e-Shahadath on 4th December 1984.

Nine killed in Indonesia chopper crash

Jakarta, August 04: At least nine people have been killed and a survivor found after a helicopter flying to a mine crashed in Indonesia.

“There were 10 people on board the helicopter, which was transporting eight employees and contractors to the mine and there were two crew,” Newcrest company in charge of the mine said in a statement on Thursday.

The chopper went missing on Wednesday and its debris was discovered near Manado on Sulawesi island a day later in an air and sea search, AFP reported.

Tajikistan bans youth from mosques

Dushanbe, August 04: Tajikistan on Wednesday banned all children and teenagers from worshipping in mosques as the volatile Central Asian republic pressed ahead with its battle against rising Islamic fundamentalism.

President Emomali Rakhmon signed the measure into law after it was unanimously adopted by the upper house of parliament last month, local news reports said.

The law bans those under the age of 18 from praying in churches or mosques and requires them to study in secular schools, Aziya-Plus news agency said.

The airline is facing a daily loss of over Rs 28 crore rupees and it is paying Rs 9.1 crore per day in interest alone on various loans.

Three banks hike lending rates; IOB revises deposit rates

Mumbai, August 04: Three banks — HSBC, United Bank and Dena Bank — hiked their lending and base rates today by up to 50 basis points, following the recent tightening by the Reserve Bank to tame inflation hovering around 10 percent.

On the other hand state-run Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) upped its term-deposit rates by up to 75 basis points.

Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation India (HSBC) said it has revised upwards its base rate, the minimum lending rate, by 50 basis points to 9.75 percent, with effect from yesterday.

Grover’s parents: Arrest Maria again for murder, conspiracy

Mumbai, August 04: Parents of TV executive Neeraj Grover, who was murdered by a defence personnel three years ago, on Wednesday said actress Maria Susairaj was equally guilty of the killing and the trial court should have convicted her for murder and conspiracy rather than giving a lighter sentence.

Grover’s parents, Amarnath (60) and Neelam (54), who were in the city to meet high police officials, told reporters that Maria, who was awarded a light sentence of three years for destroying evidence, should be re-arrested and tried for murder and conspiracy.

Hospital dumps patients in the field

New Delhi, August 04: In a shocking incident in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, a government hospital – Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital – dumped two of its patients because they could not afford to pay for their treatment.

A jaundice patient and an epilepsy patient were dumped in a field near Jhunsi after the hospital showed them the door.

A case has been registered against a doctor and three other hospital employees for neglecting the seriously ill patients.

America not good for education: Top scientist

Chennai, August 04: A top Indian scientist on Wednesday said “America is not at all good for education”, even as more Indian students are taking wings to the US for higher studies.

“Everything in (the) US is no good. They are (Indian students) going to some second rate institutions. Just because you go abroad, doesn’t mean that you get good education. Three NATO service members killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, August 04: Three members of the US-led military coalition were killed on Wednesday in Afghanistan, NATO said.

The coalition said two died in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan where foreign forces are trying to hold the ground they seized from Taliban insurgents in major offensives over the past year.

Another died in a noncombat-related incident in eastern Afghanistan, the volatile second front of the nearly decade-long war.

No other details were disclosed, pending notification of their relatives.

Fake mom of frenchman’s twins nabbed

London, August 04: Jennifer Charles, a 22-year-old woman who was on the run after posing as the partner of a French national and mother of his twins before immigration authorities, was arrested by the Azad Maidan police on Tuesday.

Jennifer had posed as French national Frederic Morin’s partner to help him secure an NOC before he could take his babies, born to a surrogate mother at Hiranandani Hospital, back home to France. But she ran out of luck as one of the immigration officers recognised her, having seen three months before posing as mother of kids of another foreign national.
