British police leaked victim details to tabloid – reports

London, July 25— British police faced new allegations Sunday that officers leaked information about terror attack victims and a murdered schoolgirl to journalists at Rupert Murdoch’s felled News of the World tabloid.
The claims deepen the scandal into phone-hacking at the now defunct newspaper, which has already claimed the jobs of two of Britain’s top police officers and dragged in Prime Minister David Cameron.

Jeddah, July 25: A Pakistani consular team would be visiting Madina from June 16 to 17 for providing consular services to the Pakistani community in the region. The team will establish its office at Pakistan House No. 2 (Phone No. 04-8250782 ), a press release issued here said. A free medical camp will also be held on the above dates at the same venue, it added. Seven-member African gang of thieves busted in Riyadh

Riyadh, July 25: A seven-member African gang has been arrested for allegedly stealing telecom devices worth SR1 million from representatives of telecommunications companies. The gang specialized in smashing windows of the companies’ cars and stealing the devices and prepaid mobile recharge cards.
Several police stations received reports from sales representatives of several companies of the thefts. Based on these complaints, the director of Riyadh Region Police asked the Criminal Investigations Department to form an investigation team and track down the perpetrators.

Vijaywada, July 25: A car driver A Rambabu (30) from Jagadgirigutta on the outskirts of Hyderabad was found murdered at Suryapalem village near Vijayawada city on Sunday.

131 sailors to take part in national event

Fire officials stall relief to farmers

Guntur, July 25: Distribution of compensation to farmers who lost their produce in fires at three cold storage units in Guntur district have been delayed as fire officials are sitting on a report on the accidents prepared by four departments — revenue, APTransco, Marketing and Fire department.
Three fire accidents took place at cold storage units in the districe this summer: April 14, 27 and May 15. About 1.5 lakh bags of chilli were lost in the fires, and 2,225 farmers suffered a cumulative loss of Rs 79 crore loss in the accidents.

Thieves break into 5 houses in Hayathnagar

Hyderabad, July 25: Burglars created havoc in Hayathnagar by entering five different houses on late Saturday night and fleeing with more than 30 tola gold and 10 tola silver. CBI issues look out notice against Ramdev aide

New Delhi, July 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued a look out notice for yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s aide Acharya Balkrishna, who has been booked for allegedly holding a fake passport, an official said Monday.

The probe agency, which registered a case against Balkrishna Sunday, has alerted airports to prevent Balkrishna from leaving the country.

“We have issued a look out notice for Acharya Balkrishna and alerted all the airports and border areas,” said a CBI official, adding that his disappearance might hamper the investigation into the case.

Body of baby found in drain

Manipal, July 25: Body of a newborn baby boy was found in a drain near Kasturba Medical Store near KMC Hospital, here today. The body surfaced in the rainwater from the drain in the morning. The baby seemed to be a newborn as the cord was still attached. The cause of his death was not known yet. Official sources said it was yet to be ascertained as to how the body came to be there or who the parents were. Locals who gathered at the spot speculated that the baby may have been born dead. Police arrived at the spot and shifted the body after conducting preliminary investigations.

Govt targeting me for speaking the truth: Ramdev

New Delhi, July 25: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday lashed out at the Congress-led UPA government for “deliberately targeting” him for raising the issues of national interests.

“I have demanded that the black money, illicitly stashed in tax havens abroad, be declared as a national asset. Similarly, I have raised the issue of rising corruption in the country. By doing so perhaps I have done a big crime, as the government thinks,” he said.

2 killed in explosion in south TN

Theni, July 25: Two people, including a woman, were killed on the spot in an explosion of a mysterious object at Thevaram near Bodi in Theni district of Tamil Nadu today. Police sources quoting preliminary reports said Gunasekaran (45), a scrap merchant, was attempting to break the object, suspected to be a shell, in his shop when it exploded killing him on the spot. A woman Pavunthaai (58), who was passing by near the shop, was also killed in the blast. Senior police and forensic experts rushed to the site. Further details were awaited,
