Two girls gang-raped, one left in front of NCW

Ghaziabad, July 28: Two girls, hailing from different parts of the district, were allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped for several days and one of them was left in an unconscious state in front of National Commission for Women’s office in Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped on July 19 from Vijaynagar area by a group of youths when she had gone to purchase books, police said.

Azad meets Cong leaders from Telangana

New Delhi, July 28: Consultation process on the Telangana statehood issue gained momentum with Congress general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday meeting a delegation of leaders from the region amid his intention to complete discussions within the party in the next two months.

The delegation consisting of Ministers, MP and MLAs from Telangana met Azad here for the second time in three days and gave a powerpoint presentation on certain issues related to the statehood demand.

Drivers issue strike notice, seek demands fulfilled

Clear air on fee reimbursement: Ex BC panel member to Botsa

Hyderabad, July 28: Former member of AP Backward Class Commission Vakula Bharanam Krishnamohan Rao on Wednesday appealed to Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana to use his office for clearing doubts among students by issuing a clarification from the government on the fee reimbursement scheme.

Ukranian man to live with lions for five weeks!

London, July 28: A Ukranian man has decided to spend five weeks in lions’ enclosure to watch the cubs being born.

Alexander Pylyshenko, 40, decided to move into the cage and live as the lions do after spending years working alongside the beasts.

His moving into the lions’ enclosure means that when the lions are fed, he will also be fed through the cage, and will sleep on the floorboards and playing with the big cats for five weeks, Daily Express reported.

New Delhi, July 28: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said reservation in educational institutions and jobs for the backward class is hard reality and students of general category should understand it.

“We know what students (of general category) feel. We understand their blood boils when they see students (of reserved class) having less marks are getting admission but they should know that reservation is the hard reality. Plant to recycle Quran pages in Pak

Lahore, July 28: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed the authorities concerned to finalise the Punjab Quran Board’s rules within a day or two.

“The disposal of old- and -tornout pages of Holy Quran is an important issue. Dialogues should be held with factories already engaged in recycling in this regard,” the Chief Minister said while presiding over a PQB meeting. The CM said: “This is a short-term measure and in the second phase, the government should consider installation of its own recycling plant.”

4 burnt alive as trucks collide

Haryana, July 28: At least four people were burnt alive in an accident involving three trucks, including an oil tanker, Wednesday near this Haryana town, police said.

A police official said that while four people were burnt to death at the spot, two others were critically injured and were brought to a hospital here.

The accident took place near Jaidipur village, 40 km from Hisar on the Hisar-Chandigarh highway, when a truck collided with an empty oil tanker head-on. A truck coming from behind also rammed into them and all three trucks caught fire.

Make Right to water, sanitation a law: UN chief

United Nation: July 28: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on all member states to integrate the right to water and sanitation into their body of laws, Xinhua reported Thursday.

Ban’s statement came as he addressed the UN General Assembly during a plenary meeting on the Human Right to Water and Sanitation.

“Many of your governments have already included the rights to water and sanitation in your constitutions and your domestic legislation,” Ban said. “Those governments that have yet to do so should follow suit without delay.”

40 Americans in Somali terror group: US senator

Washington, July 28: US senator Peter King has said over 40 Americans recruited by Somali terror group Al Shabab, have gone to fight in Somalia, and could return to attack US homeland, Xinhua reported.

King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, made the statement at a hearing he conducted on radicalisation.

The lawmaker said Al Shabab is linked with Al Qaeda, and “they’re training together, working together and the threat is that they would be coming back to attack the United States,” said King.

Gaddafi: We give our lives to defeat NATO

Tripoli, July 28: Libyan defiant ruler Muammar Gaddafi has said he is prepared to “sacrifice” in order to defeat the NATO as well as the revolutionary forces trying to topple his regime.

“We are not afraid. We will defeat them,” Gaddafi said in an audio message to his loyalists in the town of Zaltan near the Tunisian border, AFP reported on Wednesday.

“We will pay the price with our lives, our women and our children. We are ready to sacrifice (ourselves) to defeat the enemy,” the embattled added.

GoM seeks to hammer out solution on staff stir threat

Hyderabad, July 28: As part of the ongoing efforts by the Group of Ministers, a government representative will meet the Telangana leaders on Thursday for talks.

Meanwhile, the Group of Ministers’ meeting will be held again on July 28 and 29, most probably to hammer out a solution to ensure the proposed strike next month by the Telangana Joint Action Committee is put off.

HC to decide on ‘Bejawada Rowdilu’ title in one week

Hyderabad, July 28: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the Censor Board’s legal counsel to look into the possibility of a change in title of the forthcoming film `Bejawada Rowdilu’ after an advocate filed a petition that the title portrayed the city of Vijayawada in bad light.

The Court issued the directions following a petition submitted by Gowtham Reddy, an advocate from Vijayawada, seeking the Court to intervene in the issue and direct filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma to change the title of the movie.
