MP First State to Have Agriculture Economic Survey, present separate Agriculture Budget

Bhopal, July 28: Madhya Pradesh government has resolved to establish Agriculture Cabinet and present a separate Agriculture Budget in the next budget session 2011-12. Madhya Pradesh will become the first state in the country to do so.

The share of agriculture sector in Madhya Pradesh’s State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP) was 22.47 percent in year 2009-10. The State’s economy is agriculture-based and economic activities are connected with industries and service sector. The report of Agriculture Economic Survey will turn out to be a milestone in this connection.

Deoband opposes Right to Education Act

Lucknow, July 28: Terming the Right to Education Act as an “attack” on the sovereignty of madarsas and other minority institutions, Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband today said it will oppose it.

“The seminary will strongly protest the move to snatch rights of madarsas through RTE and it is with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, which is already opposing it,” newly-appointed vice-chancellor Maulana Abul Qasim Nomani said.

He said the Act poses a threat to the independence of madarsas and their education system.

Mumbai-Dubai Emirates flight in emergency landing

Dubai, July 28: A Dubai-bound Emirates flight with 202 passengers and crew on board made an emergency landing in Mumbai on Wednesday after fuel leaked from one of its engines, the Press Trust of India reported.

The Airbus A330 aircraft was carrying 187 passengers, including an infant, and 15 crew members, the Dubai-based airline told the news agency.

“The Mumbai-Dubai Emirates flight EK507 returned to the Mumbai airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue,” an airline spokesman said.

The airline did not disclose the nature of the problem.

Shortage of space in Haj house

Hyderabad, July 28: A meeting of the Haj Committee was told under the chairmanship of Mr. Syed Khaleeluddin. It was noted that 4th, 5th & 6th floors of the Haj House have been occupied by office of Minorities Finance Corporation, Mass Marriages Section etc. The committee agreed to form a separate section for passports. On representation made by Mr. Mohammed Ahmadullah, Minister of Minorities Affairs, airport authorities have agreed to charge only Rs. 500 instead of Rs. 1000 towards user charges.

Urdu academy employees stage dharna at haj house

Hyderabad, July 28: Prompted by the staff of computer sections of the Seema-Andhra region, a dharna was staged at the Haj House, Nampally today demanding pay hike. Police arrested them for violating section 144 and released them after advising them to go back to their native districts. The agitating employees apprised of their problems to TRS leader Mr. E. Rajinder.

Telangana employees of Urdu Academy felt annoyed on this dharna programme and threatened to resort to non-corporation movement if regional bias is observed in Urdu Academy.

Saudi hubby kissed wife get divorce

Riyadh, July 28: A wife put an end to her husband’s romantic conduct when she filed for divorce after he kissed her in front of their children, a Riyadh daily has reported.

According to the wife, for years she had suffered from her husband’s over-romance. She said that she had warned him many times not to be over-romantic with her in front of the kids, Arab News said.

For five years, she said, she had condoned his behavior, until he kissed her recently in front of the children again. She then filed for divorce.

The meeting of state Hajj committee was held at hajj House Nampally on Wednesday presided over by Hajj committee chairman Mr. Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed. The meeting dwell upon the matter that this year due to setting up of various new departments there will be shortage of accommodation for Hajj aspirants. As a result accommodation for only 400 to 500 Hajj aspirants can be arranged.

Using spy cams and other miracles of information technology like Facebook, Many Saudi wives keep a tap on husband’s activities, Arab News reported.

Incidents like wives intercepting husbands’ mobile phones and emails and adding their spouses on their Facebook accounts using pseudonyms are common.

Mumbai blasts: TISS report slams Maha govt

Mumbai, July 28: Investigations are still on into the July 13 serial blasts which rocked India’s business hub Mumbai – but more important than that is the post-traumatic care for the victims at this point.

Workers of Urdu Academy stage dharna at Hajj house

Hyderabad, July 28: Employees working in the computer training centres of Andhra Pradesh state Urdu academy, tried to stage dharna at Hajj House premises on Wednesday demanding hike in salaries and regularization of jobs. Police took the agitating employees into custody for a while and later they were instructed to go back to their places.

It is said that workers of various districts of Andhra Pradesh state staged dharna and demanded settlement of their long pending issues. Police arrested the agitating workers warning them against violation of section 144.

APSRTC launches central call centre

Hyderabad, July 28: For the first time in the country, an all-India Central Call Centre has been inaugurated in Hyderabad on Wednesday by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to render round-the-clock services to bus passengers from anywhere in the country.

Customers can call the CCC on 3377 3377 from across the country without dialling Andhra Pradesh’s code, that is, 040. The CCC will attend to passengers’ grievances via calls, mails, SMSes and also issue bus tickets through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

After Britain, US considers Libya rebel embassy

Washington, July 28: The United States said on Wednesday it was reviewing a request by Libya’s rebels to open an embassy in Washington, following Britain which expelled diplomats from Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.

State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the rebel National Transitional Council on Tuesday submitted a formal request to open what the United States would consider Libya’s embassy to the United States.

Mubarak refuses to eat ahead of trial

Cairo, July 28: Egypt’s former ruler Hosni Mubarak has reportedly become very weak after refusing to eat any solid food over the past five days.

Mubarak “is completely refusing to eat food but consumes some liquids and juice only. He lost a lot of weight and suffers weakness and severe infirmity,” said Mohamed Fathallah, head of the hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh where Mubarak has been under arrest since April.

Complaint against T MPs for disrespecting Tricolour

Hyderabad, July 28: Members of Telugu Nadu Students Federation on Wednesday lodged a complaint against Telangana Congress MPs K Kesava Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek, Madhu Yaskhi and Manda Jagannatham with the Banjara Hills police, stating that the leaders had disrespected the National Flag.

The complainants said that the Congress MPs from Telangana had disrespected the National Flag when they hoisted the Telangana flag higher than the National Tricolour at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, as part of the ‘flag festival.’

GHMC commissioner inspects SWM power plant

Hyderabad, July 28: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner MT Krishna Babu on Wednesday visited the RDF Power Project site which is proposed to commence its operations by the end of October, 2011.

The GHMC Commissioner’s visit came about on the request of RDF Power Projects Ltd. The company is working power project which would use 700 MT of Municipal Solid Waste per day of GHMC and produce 11 MW of Power.

The plant to produce 11 MW power is being constructed near Chinnarevulapally, Bibinagar, Nalgonda District. This is at a distance of 44.5 KM from Hyderabad.

Calls for peace after 200 deaths in Karachi

Karachi, July 28: Pakistan’s government on Wednesday launched a campaign to end bloody clashes in the city of Karachi after at least 200 people were killed since the beginning of the month.

Yeddyurappa reaches Delhi, says won’t resign

New Delhi, July 28: Beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa, indicted by the state Lokayukta for involvement in illegal mining, arrived in New Delhi Wednesday night to meet senior leaders of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but asserted he would not resign.

“The question of resigning does not arise,” Yeddyurappa, the BJP’s first chief minister in south India, told media persons after his arrival.

Yeddyurappa, who is accompanied by several ministers and state party chief K. S. Eshwarappa, said: “I will explain everything to my party seniors.”

BJP top brass to meet, BSY likely to go

New Delhi, July 28: BJP top brass today discussed the political fallout of the Lokayukta report in Karnataka with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and has convened a meeting of its Parliamentary Board- the party’s highest decision making body- to take a decision on his continuance in office.

BJP sources said in the wake of Yeddyurappa’s indictment by Lokayukta Santosh Hegde in his report, his continuance has become untenable. It appears certain that the Parliamentary Board will decide that Yeddyurappa has to go, sources said.
