Engineering counseling from July 27

Hyderabad, July 6: Counseling for admission into Engineering, Pharmacy, MBA, MCA and other professional courses has been scheduled. EAMCET web counseling for admission into Engineering and pharmacy will begin from July 27. It has been decided in a meeting of department of higher education which was convened in this regard.

The first phase of EACMET counseling will be held from July 27 while web counseling for admission into MBBS courses will be held from July 17. ICET web counseling for other professional courses such as MBA, MCA courses will begin from July 17.

Pressure on Jaipal Reddy, others to quit

DGP advises cops to avoid firing on students

Hyderabad, July 6: Director General of Police Mr. V Dinesh Reddy on Tuesday arranged a video conference along with Telangana district superintendents of police, commissioners of Cyberabad and Hyderabad police and advised police to deal with the agitation cautiously.

According to highly placed sources Mr. Dinesh Reddy has arranged the video conference for the first time after he took charge as new DGP in which he directed his subordinates regarding dealing with the violence related to separate Telangana demand.

OU exams, BDS exam postponed

Hyderabad, July 6: All the exams which were going to be conducted by Osmania University on July 5 and 6 have been postponed. New dates will be announced shortly. This was informed by Registrar Osmania University in a press notification.

NTR Health University has informed that BDS exam scheduled on Wednesday has been postponed due to bandh in Telangana districts. The exam will be held on July 20.

Hubby’s affair, led to wife suicide in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, July 06: A 28- YEAR- OLD woman committed suicide at her DLF Phase- II residence in Gurgaon on Tuesday after a brief scuffle with her husband who is allegedly having an affair with a model.

The police identified the victim as Ruchi Bhuttan and her husband as Sumit Bhuttan.

The model Sumit is allegedly seeing was identified by the police as Meera Chopra. Sources said she is a cousin of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. However, the families of Priyanka and Meera are not on talking terms, the sources added.

Ruchi’s family alleged Sumit was demanding divorce from her.

Hyderabad, July 06: Mr. Mohammed Ahmedullah, Minister for Minorities Welfare informed that online registration of Govt. of A.P. postmatric scholarships has commenced on 5th July on website www.apsmfc.com. All those students who were granted scholarships during 2010-11 and are continuing their studies this year may apply for renewal of their scholarships.

Those who got Aadhar card may enter their I.D. number otherwise particulars of Ration Cards could be given. For renewal of scholarships, fresh income certificate is not necessary.

Wakf Amendment Bill – Need to adopt democratic values

Hyderabad, July 06: A consultative meeting of the Sunni Ulema Board was held at Shuttariya Maskan, Dabeerpura under the chairmanship of Maulana Syed Hamid Hussain Shuttari in which amendments of Wakf Act 1995 were condidered. Mr. Farooq Ali Khan, Advocate explained various sections of the Wakf and said that it cannot protect Wakf Properties.

Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan (Jamaat-e-Islami) advised to struggle for the protection of unregistered Wakf Properties. He suggested that an all-party delegation should meet the Select Committee of the Parliament to represent the case.

Life term for rapist father and brother

New Delhi, July 06: A shocked Supreme Court upheld the life imprisonment awarded to a man, who along with his son, repeatedly raped his 14-year-old daughter till her mother found her pregnant and lodged a complaint with police. Now, both the accused Syed Isaq and his son, the girl’s elder brother will cool their heels in jail for life. A bench comprising Justices P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan said the trial court was correct in awarding life sentence to the father-son duo for their inhuman conduct.

Telangana bandh Day 2: No solution in sight yet

Hyderabad, July 06: It’s the second day of the 48-hour Telangana bandh and schools and colleges are closed, entrance exams in Osmania University have been postponed and there are no Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses on the roads. There is also no solution yet in sight to the stand-off over the demand for a separate Telangana state.

The number of resignations in the Andhra Assembly is nearing the 100 mark – this after 11 TRS, four CPI and two BJP MLAs from Telangana joined the resignation brigade yesterday.

Israeli airstrikes hit eastern Gaza

Gaza, July 06: Israeli forces have launched airstrikes in the eastern part of Gaza city, with no immediate reports of the exact number of casualties.

According to initial reports, Israeli fighter jets targeted a garage used by mechanics in the Shujaiyyah neighborhood in the besieged Gaza Strip late on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, Israeli artillery shelling in east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp in Gaza killed two Palestinians and injured another.

In April, a series of Israeli airstrikes killed at least 19 Palestinians in the occupied territories.
